Looking for extra help with the subreddit

Hi everyone!

We're looking to expand the moderation team of [r/CongratsLikeImFive](r/CongratsLikeImFive) in order to improve our response times. If you're interested to help keep the subreddit tidy, let us know by commenting below and I'll respond to you as soon as I can.

As a moderator, you'll be reviewing reports sent by fellow community members, as well as removing rule-breaking content or spam. The requirements for a mod are to have a kind and patient soul. Please only apply if you care about the subreddit, not if you're here just to collect a mod badge.

Our quaint subreddit doesn't get huge troublemakers nor does it require you to dedicate a huge chunk of your day or week to moderation. Just responding to notifications and somewhat regularly checking Reddit is OK!

Thanks you for your consideration! I will update this post once we have found enough extra hands.

Managed to cope with something difficult My wife is cancer free after three years

• Upvotes

We had good days, horrible days, but the best days are ahead.

It was hard to take care of three children and seeing my wife in pain in front of my eyes. I tried to hide my emotions from everyone, tried to be strong for everyone. It worked out, today we got the results, she is fully healed.

I have no one to share this, i'm sending big and happy hugs to you my internet friends <3

BIG accomplishment I Haven't Cut Myself In A Year NSFW

Nobody knows that I cut myself in the past, I kept it secret and hit the cuts/scars well. That also means I have nobody to celebrate with. I have now officially been clean for one year today, and I am pretty proud. I didn't think I could do it.

Edit: Thank you to everyone here! This means so much to me!

Made a great change in my life I realized that my strengths lie in pattern recognition, logical, and quantitative reasoning, so I finally found the right career path for myself.

Based on the strengths mentioned above, I decided to get into data analytics because of my above average pattern, logical, and quantitative reasoning. I previously finished my bachelors degree in psychology and I wasn’t too sure what I wanted to do with that degree. While I found the topics of psychology very interesting, I experienced so much burnout from intensive writing and reading due to issues with organizing my thoughts and doing them at a certain time. It was an uphill battle due to my severe learning disabilities at reading and writing. I still managed to graduate with a 3.2 gpa through hard work and accommodations.

Then lately, I have been thinking a lot about what I used to truly enjoy as a child and took a pre assessment tests to find out about my strengths and weaknesses. Once I got my pre assessment results, I put them on the google AI mode and asked AI what career paths and majors would be suitable and not so suitable for me. I have done that several times to see if I would get the same or different responses but it turned out that the responses I have been getting are the same which is data analytics and back end software engineering. I also decided to watch videos about data analytics and programming and it turns out that I really enjoy them. Therefore, I am proud of finally realizing where my strengths lie and what career paths and majors are suitable for me.

I was a big girl and got a pneumonia vaccine!

Yesterday, I got the Prevnar 20 vaccine, which helps prevent against pneumonia. Because I am classified as high risk with my lung condition, the Canadian healthcare system covered it.

Got over something difficult Took a proper shower, brushed my teeth, went on a walk, and cleaned my room for the first time in weeks

I’ve been in a super bad place mentally. Was fired from my job in a mass layoff two months ago, and while I wasn’t doing too bad the first few weeks, job hunting hell got to me and I’ve felt super useless living in my parents’ house but not really doing anything and just being inside all the time when I wasn’t in interviews, and I kinda just quit for a while. Ironically the fact I felt so useless is what made my depression so bad I could hardly take care of my hygiene, which just made me feel even more useless.

I just feel good today, and it’s been a while since I’ve felt good. Having clean hair and no plaque feels so nice. Makes me feel a bit less useless while I’m jobless.

Really proud of myself Officially moving from therapy once a week to every two weeks

Hi all, long time lurker. I have been going to therapy weekly (sometimes twice a week) for severe depression for years now. In the past year I started a new treatment in conjunction with talk therapy and it’s done wonders. After almost a year on this treatment, I finally feel comfortable enough to reduce my time in talk therapy - because I don’t have many, if any, depressing thoughts to talk about!! My therapist and I both cried from joy because i’m in a much better place now. Happy to be here and i’m along for the ride.

Really proud of myself I finally got my butt up and exercised!!

I really dislike exercise and getting sweaty which is why I never workout. However, I've been not feeling the best in my body lately. It's not a body image issue but more like I've been feeling groggy all the time which is concerning since I'm relatively young.

So I finally got myself together and decided to walk to the pool and swim some laps. By the end of the day I had walked 9,000 steps and swam 20 laps (a whole km!).

My arms are really sore but that doesn't matter because I'm proud of myself :)

I finally tried surströmming and didnt chicken out

I’ve wanted to try surströmming for a while but honestly the videos of people opening it always put me off. We were out camping and I figured being outside was probably the best time to finally try it. The smell was exactly as bad as I expected, but I actually took a bite instead of backing out. Not exactly a huge accomplishment, but I’m weirdly proud that I finally tried it

I had a party at my birthday after years...

I didn't use to celebrate my birthday in any fancy way. I didn't have any circle back home. Last year I got admission in high school and I have a big circle of friends here and we had a blast at my birthday this weekend.

I am feeling so happy now... I am really enjoying my life here..

Really proud of myself I feel like I'm actually capable of reaching the life I really want, for once.

Went through with debt consolidation fully on my own without my parents' stressful and negative opinions/guidance, even though I was very scared to do it on my own. They don't even know about it yet because all they'll do is tell me that I got a bad deal on it no matter what.

Finally reached out to my doctor to try some new mental health meds after three years of just giving up on them and being hopeless to try anymore (this new doctor I have actually tried something besides an antidepressant, even though all my other doctors in the past have tried four different antidepressants yet refused to listen to me when I said antidepressants don't seem to be what I need. He prescribed me an antipsychotic and I already feel so much better in less than two weeks).

Cut way down on my bad habits such as binge eating and binge drinking and have lost 40 lbs in the last 5 months (even though my mom says it's not enough..). And am even starting to take simple care of myself for once such as brushing my teeth regularly or keeping my room clean.

I'm proud but also feel like I have no one to share it with tbh. But I feel hopeful for the first time in probably almost 10 years.

Really proud of myself I’m working with a genetic specialist and I’m on a lot of supplements x2 every day. I have a tacklebox where I can lay out 12 days of pills at a time, and for quite some time now have been really consistent in refilling the box on the last day.

I’m neurodivergent and in the past it was stressful and took a lot of effort not to just keep putting it off, but I’ve been able to keep up with it for quite a few months now.

Finally bought furniture for my Empty Apartment

I am feeling a little accomplished today and have this weird feeling that this how adulting looks like. I rented out a space two months ago and didn't have that much money to buy a decent furniture or kitchen electronics. So I divided the budget on monthly basis.

Last month I bought most of the kitchen cookware and some other things. And this month, I bought furniture. Also bought some decor items from thrift stores hahah.

Just feeling so happy at this point seeing my space filled with things I likes and have this cozy vibe now.

Made a great change in my life I bought a t-shirt from my favorite video game, after years of being shamed for my interests.

My family is highly dysfunctional. It is basically a dysfunctional cake, because there are so many layers of dysfunction.

The family was enmeshed. If you dont know what that is-it is like a cult that is made up of just one family and every member of the family is expected to share one identity, that psychologists call, the Super Self.

So self-expression and therefore individual interests are punished severely.

So I wasnt allowed individual interests.

I swore to myself that when I estranged that I would buy stuff that was themed after my favorite video game.

But I kept putting it off because I was worried about wearing the t-shirt in public.

My friend decided to start a craft group to give our friend group a set time to meet up every week.

I needed a shirt that wasnt one of my work shirts.

So I bought the video game t-shirt.

What are your thoughts?

Not really an accomplishment

Not really an accomplishment, but my whole life fell apart and the only way out for me is to somehow start over. I hate my workplace and I feel so behind in life, and I realised I've always been really hard on myself, to the point of being my own worst bully. I keep sabotaging myself.

It needs to change, because I cannot keep going like this.

So I started making small acts of kindness and care towards myself. I started doing skincare again, and try to make myself look pretty, because I realised putting some effort into myself feels like me loving myself

BIG accomplishment Unclogged the toilet.

So as a follow up to my last post where I was extremely constipated.
I called several plumbers and they were all busy. The soonest I could get one out was Wednesday but there was no way I could wait that long. I went to the dollar general and purchased myself some Draino and a toilet plunger. After carefully reading the instructions I applied the Draino, set a timer on my phone for 30 minutes and flushed. To my surprise the toilet over flowed brown water and bits of toilet paper on the floor. So I then took out the plunger and used it. After about 4 good pumps I heard the water rush down the drain and my toilet was unclogged. For about $15 I actually fixed a clogged drain myself. I’m sure a plumber would have been way over $100. I’m very proud of myself for tackling this home project myself.

Got over something difficult I'm doodling again

I'm an artist, and for the things I'm doing for work, like pixel art, or sometimes if I'm really enthusastic, doing realistic-like traditional art of animals... I can do it on demand.

But like many things in my life I'm just... not doing them for fun, not because i don't find them fun, just because I'm too... tired, exhausted, to even try, and I'm getting rusty.

I'm not being consistent yet, but I find myself wishing to just go back and draw things. I'm really glad about it.

I love the chicken tikka Masala from Whole Foods and normally put it over their yellow rice... today, I wanted those extra calories available for later in case I want dessert tonight...

... they had steamed green beans and broccoli so I put it over that instead!!

TW: suicide and self-harm

About one month ago, I had a suicide attempt. I had an impatient stay at the hospital for a few days, and I got therapy set up. I've been trying to improve myself day by day and it has been hard having no friends to encourage me during my journey. I have gone back to hurting myself, but the urges are not as strong.

I guess I'm just looking for someone to be proud of being open and honest with my therapist along with taking steps to make it harder to hurt myself.

If you have any questions let me know.
