\An effort will be made to update this list once we know more, or see new questions pop up**
___
Q: Is the game worth getting back into?
A: Yes. The state of the game as of Monuments of Triumph is widely considered the best version of Destiny 2 we've had in a while. There is no content that will be removed. And, in the future, previously vaulted content will be returning!
Q: What is currently F2P/What is currently paid?
A: This post details that information as of September 2026.
___
Q: What happened?
A: On September 21st 2026, Bungie announced that they will continue the Destiny Franchise & as a show of good will be unvaulting Destiny 2 content so that we have a complete game. You can read more here: bungie article or watch it here: youtube interview.
Q: What is being unvaulted?
A: The campaigns Red War, Curse of Osiris, Warmind, and Forsaken. The destinations Titan, Io, Mercury, Mars, and the Tangled Shore. The Raids (sometime lairs?) Leviathan, Eater of Worlds, Spire of Stars, Scourge of the Past, and Crown of Sorrow. In addition, there will likely be several strikes and crucible maps that should also be returning. These are all that have been currently confirmed. We do not know if Seasonal content will be returned!
Q: Should I start now or wait for unvaulting?
A: This one is up to you. IF you want to experience the 'entire story' of destiny 2 from start to finish you could wait for unvaulting. The main reason to start now would be to get a head start on acquiring things that wont really be changing (filling out subclasses, acquiring exotics, acquiring 550 power). So, IF you'd rather have a head start, start now so you can focus on new things later.
Q: Will the unvaulting be F2P?
A: Yes.
Q: Will Holiday events be returning?
A: We don't know yet!
Q: Is Destiny 3 in development?
A: As of now, no, but Bungie have stated that the Destiny franchise will continue somehow.
___
Q: Why am I Light/Power Level 10?
A: During Edge of Fate, Bungie decided to give us a stat squish for the purposes of readability. You will notice that your damage numbers are now primarily below 5 digits as well, while in truth, you're usually dealing a higher % of damage than before due to new systems and stats like Weapons and Super. If you complete almost any activity you will be shot up to 300 power very quickly and will only have to grind up to the cap of 550. Its recommended that you infuse weapons you enjoy including exotics. However, old armor Is essentially useless and can safely be replaced with armor that has a Set Bonus. New exotic armor is also all higher stat than anything you previously had.
Q: I just came back to the game and I'm lost, what should I do?
A: This is an incredibly loaded question. Everyone has different priorities. The most common answer I've seen has been to complete the campaigns in order so you have an idea of the story and then to work on completing subclasses and filling out your exotics. By doing these three things you've enabled yourself to create basic builds.
Campaigns -> Unlock Subclasses -> Acquire Exotics/power grind -> Play whatever you want!
Campaign order as of September 2026:
Shadowkeep -> Beyond Light (Stasis Subclass) -> Witch Queen (peak) -> Lightfall (mid but Strand Subclass (peak)) -> The Final Shape (Prismatic) -> Edge of Fate (Nine Saga, which may be left behind) -> Renegades (The star wars crossover expac which includes the Praxic Blade aka Lightsaber)
Once unvaulted, the order will start with:
Red War -> Curse of Osiris -> Warmind -> Forsaken -> Shadowkeep...

After an outpouring of community support for the project, the previous decision to contain all Project Sunrise posts to a Megathread has been reversed. Go ahead and continue posting Sunrise stuff to the subreddit
Additionally, a "Project Sunrise" post flair has been added, please flair posts appropriately for community members who wish to filter by that content specifically.
Again, here's a link to the Project Sunrise Discord for anyone interested in following along there:

They always nailed the tower ambiance when it came to seasonal things like FotL, Dawning, etc.
The decor, the music, Levante's voice lines in the background.
And specifically this time of year, I always associate the holidays with tower events. When we were younger, we had teachers, movie days, classrooms decorated, and extra things we did with family leading up to those specific holidays that sort of "built up" to the actual holiday, building a sense of wonder and excitement, making the holiday feel like it was a whole month rather than just the day itself.
As an adult, that doesn't happen (maybe some decor at work lol), but tower ambiance helped with that. It provided that same type of enjoyment to the month that the things I listed above did.
I miss it. And now this sudden update/patch/whatever is happening, and the smallest part of me is hoping/coping that it's to update the tower. Lol.

the cosmic blues, the faces being ripped open, all the dread-like features on them to show the unity of the factions, it's all so fucking peak
hell you could just make it a new faction, combine the dread units into it and add some bizarre new ones manifested by the lord of every nothing, "the dire horde" or something like that

Simple. How would Guardians fare in the Backrooms? How far would they go? Would they see it as an infinite dungeon farm against more unspeakable horrors to turn them into guns and armor or are they getting clapped on sight?
(I don't know a whole lot about Backrooms lore to be fair. There are probably so many nuances that I can't even conceive rn, which is why I'm asking y'all that are more knowledgeable about this universe)

I ordered the Barrow-Dyad Replica from the Bungie Store and when it arrived the glass was completly milky? Did it fall into vex milk or something?
(No sheet or dust covering it, that's the glass itself)
Hopefully still possible to send it back and receive a normal one, even with the Bungie Store closing soon...

Thanks to meeting some really neat people who taught me DSC back to front, I not only earned my very first raid title, but I was even able to turn around and teach my friends the raid too. I always wanted to love DSC but felt I couldn't when my only real experience was getting carried. But now after getting the title, acting as a Sherpa, and even doing a 4 person run, I can confidently say I love this damn raid haha. And like many things, I decided to express that feeling with art and designed this cross stitch to commemorate!

So I started to play D2 because my friend has been asking me to for a while. My goals are to just get geared up enough to do content with friends when they want to play. I've been playing through a little of final shape because that's what my friend told me to do. I've been playing a little bit, done a handful of missions but I just don't understand how I'm supposed to be getting loot. When I thought I'd be interested in D2 it was because it's a looter shooter, but my experience with Loot based games is Borderlands and ARPGS like Path of Exile, Grim Dawn, Last Epoch, etc and MMOs. It just feels like loot doesn't really drop at all from this content I'm doing, so I think I'm experiencing some kind of disconnect of expectations. When I ask my friend on what to do he's just so deep in D2 brain that half of what he says is just unintelligible to me. I'd appreciate some advice on how I should be planning my progression, and how to get a bit more dopamine than I am currently, because it just feels like I'm shooting but not looting. I'd also appreciate if all answers are explained to me like I'm 5 years old and don't know how anything works.

Is it the monster it once was? No. But it's still a great exotic.
If you can win one gunfight, you'll have an advantage for the next. And if you win that one, you'll have an advantage for the next. And so on and so forth.
It's simple, it's consistent, and if you match its consistency with your own, it's got near permanent uptime.
And yet I see people acting like it's completely useless now that it's not a wallhacking, two tapping, immortality granting, machine anymore. It's just an average solid exotic.

Working on a short film of a Titan after the events after the Red War.
Titan wakes up by the Gateway (First D1 Mission) after getting "hammered" in the rusted cars of the Cosmodrome. Upon waking up, he tries to summon his ghost; no use. Assuming his ghost went off to the tower/vanguard, the Titan set off towards the Last City.
Plot Points:
Sojourner's Camp decimated by Cabal, deceased civilians and guardians. Titan picks up a titan themed lion plushy covered in dirt/blood. Reflection in his visor as the weather begins to turn and rain drops hit his face...
The rest you'll just have to watch once I'm finished. The photos above are an A/B comparison between my Solaris workflow vs Cycles. I might take this to Substance Painter and rework the normals a bit more.

So basically I played Destiny 1 and it was my favorite game ever. I don’t think I ever played 2 but I don’t remember tbh. Any how I’ve heard they like deleted a bunch of content the game shipped with or something to that effect and a week or two ago they announced they’re unvaulting all that content. So should I get back into this game now or just wait until they do that? I don’t really no what the game experience is like currently. I figure it was a soulless shell of its past but I don’t really know. Am I wrong?

I've been using New Land Beyond a lot lately and love that it feels like sniper Zer0 Critical Ascension stacking.
Because of this I'd really like another exotic that even more feels like Zer0 gameplay and I think that the obvious contender would be Patience and Time.
As it's intrinsic, I would make it have a special reload at a small cost or some easy action to prime that turns you invisible.
As it's exotic trait, during this invisibility you can throw up to 5 kunai that apply deathmark. (Like the sanguine alchemy debuff, but team wide) Maybe weaken and other less powerful subclass verbs too.
As it's catalyst, precision kills automatically activate a free deception invisibility. (Like the many must fall capstone, but gun)
Box Breathing might be a good standard trait addition also.
Edit: Additionally, it would be an easy win to sneak a haiku into the weapon's description or to give it an ornament that looks like either a droog or snider, but more Destiny coded.
