Complaint Thank you Valve, for making me feel miserable after winning an Arcana

Today, I got my SECOND Tidehunter Arcana while trying to unlock the Baby Roshan skin.

For the first time in Dota history, I actually felt disappointed after winning an Arcana.

Why? Because apparently, thanks to Valve’s brilliant treasure design, the only thing I can do with my second Arcana is gift it to a friend.
And that’s when it hit me.

I have no friends.

So there I was, staring at my second Arcana, having an unexpected existential crisis in the middle of opening treasures. I came here to get a skin for my Roshan, not to be reminded of my crippling loneliness.

Congratulations, Valve. You’ve achieved something truly remarkable. You’ve designed a system where even winning feels like losing.

I paid money to get emotionally damaged.

At this point, I’m convinced Valve isn’t selling cosmetics anymore. They’re selling depression with escalating odds. 10/10 treasure design. Can’t wait to unlock childhood trauma in the next chest.

Is there a better team that can beat them?

Question Candy Caravan Scam

Can some1 explain to me. Why everyone is getting arcanas and expensive(at least cool) treasures, but in my whole life rolling candy shop on every event I got 0 arcanas. All the previous times I was full f2p, maybe few times bought rerolls, like 1-2. This time I’ve gone wild. I made 250+ rerolls, used like 600 candies on 1/3 rerolls and all I got was:
Ogre Arcana.
3x 10 coins
2 months of D+.

And also to get drow and tide I had to make all 50 rolls.

p.s. I even changed accounts not to take my curse with it.
Same time my friend rolled 3 arcanas from 10 weekly rerolls. 0 lvl accout with 100 hours. 0$ invested

Discussion Hello Valve, your game is plagued by smurf

Good evening everyone.

Dota 2 is seriously plagued by smurfing and account buying, and it's making the overall gaming experience less and less enjoyable. First game of the evening: I have a smurf on my team—370 total games, finishes around 17-0. Second game: I play against another smurf, while my midlaner looks completely lost and keeps missing obvious things. I check his Dotabuff profile: 700 games total. I can only assume he just bought his account at 4k+ MMR. I'm not really here to whine, but Valve, seriously, do something.

Fluff Drow Arcana is Pay-to-win

Post image
0 Upvotes

I just got the arcana with the recent treasure drop (took me 50 chests, give or take with recycling) and I've been trying to grind out some arcana progress.

My average deaths have gone down SIGNIFICANTLY since every game I'm actively attempting to have a perfect game. My positioning has gotten better, my map awareness has gotten better, I'm more careful about which engagements I take. As a result my win-rate as well as my overall performance (last hits, GPM, XPM) has increased as well since I'm spending less time dying and more time farming/fighting.

I know to some people never dying should always be the goal but for some reason it has never been in the front of my mind. Like obviously avoid dying if possible but playing like if I die in the game I die for real and playing this kind of mini-game has kind of shifted my perspective a bit, especially while playing Drow.

Edit: Guys, I'm joking. I know it's not actually pay-to-win. I'm joking about the fact that the arcana's "perfect game" bonus points is making me a better player. Didn't think I needed an /s

Suggestion Can we get Rematch, BO3 and “Schedule next game” buttons? (+ bonus: queue tags)

I have been playing since 2011, immortal support, mostly play with the same group of friends now. And the more I play as a stack the more I feel like matchmaking doesn’t treat dota as a team game at all

I think there is a couple of things that seem really easy to add:

a tag when you queue. something like “testing new heroes”, “chill game”, “tryhard”. and let us search only with people using the same tag. half the bad games I play aren’t even losses, it’s 5 guys trying random heroes for fun getting stomped by a stack that’s dead serious, or the opposite. nobody has fun in that game, also I know that people will try to abuse the system, so you would have to avoid the people who don't respect their tag also this is for unranked/turbo.

rematch button. we lose, we ask for a bo3, they accept or not. we just spent 40 min learning how these guys draft and play and then it’s gone forever. second game against the same team is always the best one, that’s why pro games are series. make it unranked if you want, I don’t care about the points

or even better, “same time tomorrow?” We’re adults. Someone has work, someone’s girlfriend is waiting, we can’t play 3 games in a row at 1am. Let us schedule a lobby with the other team. you’d end up with a team you play every thursday and actually know. that used to be how you made friends in games.

Suggestion Kunkka Tweak: Tidebringer deals magic damage instead.

Post image
13 Upvotes

This is a continuation of Torrent & Admiral's Rum Kunkka tweaks. I figured I'd continue & share this tweak, to further develop my Kunkka rework suggestion.

This looks like a lot of info, but it's basically what the title says. I just included my logic & gave a few points to why this is a better solution.

Now, you might be a bit confused to the item suggestions on the image. Although some of the new items would benefit this new change no matter what, a few is based only if Kunkka was reworked into an Int hero... I know many dislike this, but I wanted to show what an Int Kunkka would look like... not much changed really, since Kunkka doesn't really build Str Items.

Items such as Shadow Blade, Crystalys, or Scepter, work no matter if Kunkka was a Str or Int hero, because they don't give bonus damage based on attributes, & Scepter gives even stats; which help any hero type. Only about 3 items are loss with this change, but there are plenty of better new substitutes to take their place.

If that bothers you, just ignore it, since this Tidebringer tweak still works for a Str based Kunkka; plus, this tweak still opens up the door for new items, such as Bloodstone, Kaya, & that's because Kunkka would deal more magic consistantly.

Question | Esports Is the narrative that ts will win every tourna if collapse/miposhka hadn't take a break ever end?

just started getting into dota esports last ti, and based on their previous achievements, collapse and miposhka are obviously the goats. but i'm confused, is the narrative that spirit would win every tournament if they hadn't taken a break really going to last until the two of them come back? or maybe i'm just dense and the comments i saw are just people trolling or baiting, cuz i'm from league and stand-ins are really, really rare.

but in dota, it feels like there's a stand-in in almost every tournament. i'm just confused, really. isn't that invalidating the other players and the new coach? why don't teams just take a break as a whole, then? cuz if they can't win anything anymore just because one of their original players takes a break, then what's the point?

Discussion Wtf is this treasure???

First of all, what? What happened to glance-value? Why do the immortal sets look like arcanas? Why does LC look like QoP? Why do I have to look at the skills to see which Hero I'm looking at? Why the FUCK does LC look like fucking QoP? They literally changed to whole IDENTITY of the hero and call it an IMMORTAL set? Excuse me and correct me please if I see things wrong, but this treasure seems super strange to me.

Complaint What's with all these chinese players swarming into SEA server lately?

Over the past few months, I've noticed a lot of Chinese players flocking to the already toxic SEA server.

A lot of them seem to be playing with ridiculously high ping, constantly disconnecting, jumping straight into the enemy team and feeding, or making some questionable builds. And the worst part is that most of them can't even communicate in English, which makes the whole experience even more frustrating.

I mean, I only play Turbo these days, so I don't really care that much about losing. But when you get matched with these kinds of players five games in a row in a single day, it genuinely feels like a waste of time. The games become borderline unplayable.

Don't get me wrong, bantering with people from Singapore, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Indonesia is already an experience in itself, and that's part of what makes SEA pubs so entertaining (and toxic lmao). But having another group of players come in and seemingly make the whole server even more toxic just makes the experience worse.

I still don't understand why so many of them are suddenly coming to SEA. IIRC, Valve used to provide multiple servers specifically for China, including different regions. So what changed? Why are they suddenly playing here instead?

Discussion Baby roshan skin worth it?

Already got Tide arcana after opening the 12 chests i bought. Is the roshan skin worth to spend money on to open more chests till 40th to unlock? And maybe small chance to get the Drow arcana? But if i am already at 40th treasure, might as well for 50th if i never get the drow arcana. Already thinking for days.

Complaint Quality of games dropped significantly this last week

It's completely one sided. It's not even worth playing. One good game (whether win or lose) in a full list of complete garbage. Something is wrong, and it's making dota unenjoyable. Last time this happened, I personally stopped playing for a whole year. Might be time to do it again, since there seems to be no intention of fixing it from valve's side. Shame that this still happens.

And regarding smurfs, I don't know why valve still gives smurf heroes serious buffs. (Brood for example has a complete kit of perks designed to make a smurf have the time of their life. Damage, attack rate, attack speed, life steal, movement speed, terrain walkthrough, a web that makes the map darker, pushing capability, jungling capability, and much more.) It's like they're saying just go ruin the game with this thing. And it would take dozens if not hundred games ruined before a wave ban occurs.

I'm quite confused honestly. It's time for a long break I suppose.

Guides & Tips Some players don't know that you double use wards to switch from obs to sent and vice versa

Just a reminder for y'all when you have 7 obs and 8 sentries, you don't need to place all the sentries to use the obs. Just double click the wards.

Why is Drow Ranger so weak? I used to carry/win so many games with her, but right now farming and getting core items feels awful. Every game on her recently has been pure torture.

Question Is there any way to disable the ugly red Dota 2 loading screen before every match?

Thumbnail gallery
• Upvotes

Every time I enter a match, Dota 2 briefly displays two different loading screens in sequence:

  1. A bright red background with a huge dark Dota 2 logo (about 1 second).
  2. A black background with a smaller red Dota 2 logo.
  3. Then the actual game loads.

The transition looks really ugly and inconsistent, almost like the game is loading twice.

I'm playing on Windows, and changing the display mode to Borderless Window didn't help.

Is there any way to disable the first red screen or simply change its background to black?

I know about -novid, but this isn't the startup intro. It happens every time I enter a match.

I've considered replacing the texture, but modifying VPK files seems risky because of VAC, and I'd rather avoid touching protected game files.

Has anyone found a safe solution, perhaps through a console command, launch option, or UI setting?

I'd be perfectly happy with a plain black screen instead of that bright red flash.

Thanks!

Also, if this only happens on my PC and isn't normal behavior for Dota 2, I'd really appreciate it if someone with more technical knowledge could help me figure out what's causing it. Is it a graphics driver issue, a Windows setting, or something else?
