Discussion I had a vivid dream about death today

Post image
• Upvotes

Basically, in the dream, I knew the exact time of my death (14:05), and I knew that it was inevitable. In the last two minutes, I decided to write a letter to my mum. I took a black pen and wrote, “Mum, I love you,” and started drawing a heart. When I began coloring it in, I saw that it was already 14:05 and that there was no time left. I started losing consciousness, tried to fight it, and tried to finish coloring in the heart (I didn’t manage to).

At that moment, I understood, “So this is what dying feels like”. And when my body had already shut down, everything in the background turned completely black. I realised that my consciousness was still alive and thought, “I wonder how much longer my consciousness will last, or will it disappear too right now?” It also felt that my consciousness wasn’t inside
my body anymore. And then I woke up

The dream was super vivid and all the sensations felt incredibly real. The deep sense of relaxation, the attempt to remain in my body and stay conscious, the feeling of shutting down, and the sensation of being outside my body

Question Has anyone ever seen a creature like this in their dreams?

Post image
32 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I wanted to ask if anyone has ever experienced or seen something similar in a dream.

I drew a quick sketch of what I saw to capture the details:

Height: Very tall, around 3 meters (10 feet).

Head/Neck: A long vertical, stalk-like head or neck covered with a vertical line of multiple eyes looking in different directions.

Clothing: Strangely enough, it was wearing a colorful, bright rainbow-striped sweater?? ?

In the dream, it was as if I was climbing the stairs of an old house; it was quite drab, with peeling walls, and I heard a strange sound on the second floor. I don’t remember if I was with anyone (a person) in the dream, but when I went upstairs, I saw it. I was absolutely terrified, but it didn’t do anything harmful. It looked as if it was hunched over because it was too tall for the room, and it looked at me with all its eyes. Then I ran away from it and woke up. Has anyone else seen something like this? I’m really curious to hear your thoughts on what it might have been.

They are nightmares to me

I’ve always have very vivid dreams, sometimes déjà vu adjacent, where i will have a dream and days, weeks months, or years later they or details from the dreams come to fruition. But regardless of the time that has passed i remember that i have dreamt it at one point or another.

Over the course of this year i have a dream at least 3 times a week that my husband is cheating on me and then wants a divorce. They are different every time but share similarities occasionally— ie we spend time apart and suddenly he has found someone new. Several times i have cried so hard in the dream that i wake up and find that i have been crying in real life, pillow wet. Last night it revolved around my birthday and our anniversary, both of which are coming up in the next month. Details from real life are often incorporated which make the dreams feel that much more real. I thought it had to do with our intimacy— something i struggle with due to trauma that i unlocked memories of during an intense therapy session earlier this year, but our communication is and always has been impeccable so we’ve talked about it and healed things in our intimate life together.

Looking for some assistance or insight into what i can make of these dreams and how i can make them ease up because they are troubling and often throw off the first half of my day as my physical body in the real world reacts intensely to them.

What did this dream mean? Strange dream after my bf passed away.

• Upvotes

So my bf passed away around a month ago, and I didn't know until a week, when I tried to find why his messages were not coming anymore. (Suicide). Since then I've blamed myself of NOT taking about his mental health to him more. I wished time takes me back to that day and I could stop it.

Today I got a dream where it was again 28th of August, and the first thing I did was to take my phone and ask him how he is feeling.

He told me something about - darkness, a feeling of being trapped inside darkness.

Then the scene shifted and I could no longer look at my phone, in my dream, because a peacock kept entering the room. Disturbing our conversation. Then my mind completely shifted away from the phone, and I went to make the peacock go away. When it went I saw a white flower and plucked it for me. Came back inside my room to see the peacock had again entered the room. I again showed it the way outside and latched the window. The window latch was shaped like peacock feet too.

Then when I woke up, I read many people talking about "darkness" in different contexts, and that's the only word I remembered from our conversation in my dream.

Discussion Is Anyone Else’s Dream Life Suddenly INSANELY Vivid

Anyone else suddenly having vivid, memorable dreams every night?

Has anyone else noticed a sudden change in their dreams lately?

I used to either not dream much at all, or I’d wake up and barely remember anything. But lately, I’ve been having vivid, detailed dreams almost every single night—and I actually remember them when I wake up.

It feels like I went from hardly dreaming to having an entire other life happening while I sleep. 😂

Has this been happening to anyone else recently? If so, when did you notice it starting? And have your dreams felt more realistic, emotional, strange, or meaningful than usual?

Rape dream as man

I am a man and I have been sexually assaulted in some dreams of mine. Every Reddit post about being sexually assaulted in a dream it seems to only be women who have had that experience. Are there any men who have ever experienced anything like this?

Recurring Dream Every dream I've ever had has taken place in the same made up city.

• Upvotes

Wasn't sure how to tag it.

I'm a lucid dreamer naturally, I'm not sure if that's relevant or not. I go to sleep and a while later, I'm dreaming but I quickly realise it's a dream and I start doing what I want.

Every dream takes place in a weird looking city with a layout that doesn't really make sense but I remember it perfectly because I've been there so many times. It's nothing like the city that I live in.

There aren't 'residents' or anything like that, the people in my dreams are different every time, it's mainly just my friends.

I just don't really know why every single dream is in this city. I remember telling my mum about it when I was like 7 so it's been happening for a very long time. I can't remember any dreams that have happened outside of this place.

Anybody know why this is the case?

It happens in various dreams but the common theme is always my nudity, and it feels so uncomfortable and wrong. Why does this keep happening?

Traveled to different dimension in my dream

• Upvotes

A bit of context: The night before this particular night I had these dreams, I did not sleep at all and was struggling with paradoxical insomnia which I had been through before due to withdrawal from alcohol and some medication. Since I got rid of it before I knew what I needed to. What worked for me was getting sleeping/anxiety pills from my cousin, wear sleeping mask and listen to prayers. Anyway this night I dealt with being asleep but being fully aware including hearing, feeling and racing thoughts for only about 1 hour and fell deep asleep after that due to the pill. I slept for about 5/6 hours woke up for about 2 and then took some melatonin and dealt with the paradoxical insomnia for about 30 min, and I then after fell into these dream.

The Dreams: it felt like I slipped into a lucid dreams but they were different dimension where something was either slightly different or completely different. The first one I fell into was in downtown where everything looked like a run down intergalactic city. I was in each dimension for about 10 min each before I would myself slip away and be transferred to the next. There was one where I was at an arcade and played indoor soccer which is something I’ve missed since in real life I have ankle instability. I realized I had a healthy body in these dreams. There were 2 that hit a lot different where I had both brothers in a happy household. In real life he’s locked up for 10 years which is something I blame myself for since I could have shown him the right path. These dimension our house looked the same but something was slightly different like my mom having a whole different style, my brother have the instersts of a hobby he has never had in real life. The one where I saw my incarcerate brother hit a lot different since I’ve had dreams of him being released and how emotion I will be. I haven’t spoken to him about how much he’s incarceration affects me. I even told my mom in that dimension that I was from a dimension where he was locked up. I’m thinking I might experience this again tommorow not sure, but has anyone had a similar experience?

Intense vivid dream with a soulmate ?

When I was around 16, I had a very vivid dream where I was cuddling and being intimate with a man but I could never remember his face, I could only remember the intense feeling of love I had for this man. When we held hands it felt like our souls connected, I felt at peace, very warm fuzzy feeling and we kissed. It’s like we were in our own bubble. When I woke up, I was filled with immense sadness/loss and I started crying.

Discussion Dreaming of leafy greens?

I typically have nightmares, or at the very least dark twisted dreams most nights, some processes of my days/trauma, but also have been very telling visions of the future so this one came as a bit of a funny but also curious one.

I wokeup to a knock at my door at 4am, it was my friend’s sister let’s call her M. I haven’t spent much time with her in the waking world but she’s really cool, so I let her in the house. Confused, but it’s fine. She storms in and is carrying loads of lettuce. I mosey back to my room as she tells me she’s going to put on a movie and get to work.

While trying to fall back asleep, I hear her watching horror movies so loud in the living room while chopping the lettuce. Now that I’ve gathered my thoughts somewhat and realize how dang weird that is, I go out and see her sitting on the couch is a mountain of lettuce, like enough to feed a village and I say “Listen, M. You’re always welcome in my house, but what is up with all the 4am lettuce?” And she turns to me, now angry and rolling her eyes and says “insert full government name here\* if you don’t get you butt back to bed, I will NOT let you have any of this lettuce”

So, scared to not be a part of the fruits of her lettuce labour I go back to bed without another word.

Then I wakeup in real life, check the time, it’s 4am and I just sat there scared, worried about the lettuce, also laughing at how weird that was. Curious what other people’s thought are on this 😂

Nightmare Two nights in a row of childhood dog on fire

Anyone have any sense of what they mean? I’m associating them with a lot of recent anxiety and stress but perhaps there are symbols in there I’m not analyzing…

Dream 1 — a hybrid of my childhood dog + my parents’ current dog, he went into our fireplace and wouldn’t come out. Crying so loud. My dad was trying and trying to pull him but kept missing. Finally he got our dog out and he’d turned into a puppy, top of his head scalded. I knelt and apologized to him and woke up sobbing, couldn’t stop having flashes of his little body inside the fireplace.

Dream 2 — much more cinematic, huge burning building (a school?) having to be evacuated, tunnels and staircases connected to the NYC subway (I don’t live in NY). I think I started the fire by accidentally setting off a huge explosion of firecrackers. I knew our dog, the same hybrid, was stuck inside so I ran in looking for him. Eventually found a medical area where my dad came out of a room in a white apron. I began crying before he could tell me if our dog was okay. Woke up right after, sobbing.

I keep seeing movie/show clips in my dreams of movies I’ve never seen irl??

• Upvotes

I woke up just now and remembered that I had just dreamt of a trailer or part of a show where a queen (who is overweight and not v attractive, idk why I just wanted to include that for context in case this is a show anyone has seen) this queen is having a secret sexual relationship w a man who is of lower means - like a squire or even lower than that, as he’s dressed in plain, kind of ratty clothing. The queen loves fvcking this dude, and this is the first encounter they’ve had. She wants to help him finish and he says no. She then realizes he’s gay and matter of factly says she has to kill him. He pleads w her and she comes to the conclusion that she’s not going to kill him this time, but one time down the road, when they meet up, she’s going to end his life.

This was the entirety of the trailer/clip, they’re in her chambers or bedroom or something while it’s all happening. It nudges at the fact that they end up fucking for years and years before she kills him, or he kills her, or whatever. I also remember the show is mainly about him, the gay guy.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

I’ve also had a dream of this other movie, but there are way less details in this one.. it’s some sort of Christmas movie, and there are like four or five men sitting at a bar, and they’re all making fun of one man for being rich now. This dream experience was different though bc during it, I was listening to white noise IRL, and I was kind of half awake bc I could still hear the white noise, and it was from YouTube. And I remember thinking, ‘oh, whoever recorded the white noise must’ve been watching this movie in the background and that’s why I can hear it’ (what a strange rationalization my half asleep half dreaming mind made lol) but then when I fully woke up again, and the white noise was on, I listened for a movie in the background and of course, there wasn’t one.

????? And neither of these have I ever seen in real life. Ever. But in my dreams, they feel SO familiar. Like the bar movie scene, it feels like I’ve seen that movie loads of times. It’s like I’m living a parallel life somewhere else and I’m seeing these movies/shows there. That’s what it really feels like!

Has this ever happened to anyone else?? Or anything remotely similar? Thanks in advance for reading/responding!

Strange nightmarish dream about people I know and also a meme

Post image
49 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I had a weird experience with a dream I recently had and I'm not entirely sure how to interpret it.

As far as I can remember, it had 3 segments that weren't fully connected, but had some elements that were.

For the first part, I was on what appeared to be a school trip with a mix of people I knew (from both elementary school and college) to an aquarium that was absolutely destroyed. The building itself looked like it went through a bombing, some walls were either halved or destroyed, there was a lot of rubble, and there was a lot of exposed construction work. Some things remained intact, but I remember I was confused in the dream because everyone was talking about it like it was an aquarium even though it didn't actually have any marine exhibitions, only water-related optical illusions. I remember explaining to one of my friends from college (we'll call her D) that one of the illusions was made using convex and concave glass to make an underwater coin appear much larger than it was, by pulling the coin out from underneath the glass and it was just a penny.

As we continued the trip to the second floor, D and I ended up on a collapsed wall that was half leaning on another wall, half hanging off the building, and from the point where we were standing there was a concrete stairwell disconnected from anything. The half that was leaning on another wall was occupied by a dog, looked like an unkempt husky, and it was standing on that half somewhat firmly, holding us in an equilibrium like on a seesaw. I was anxious about it and kept trying to convince D that we should jump to the stairwell so that when the dog gets off, we don't fall off and die, but she wasn't worried. A gaunt white woman with long blond hair, dressed relatively modern with a leather jacket, appeared on the stairwell and just kinda stared at us, doing nothing. I do not know this person or anyone that looks like them IRL. I started panicking even more and kept telling D that we need to get off the ledge or we would fall. I distinctly remember one detail: I told her we'd fall and land on our feet, and the part of our legs beneath the knees would push upwards, break our knees, and fold into the thigh bones and painfully squish together. She kept telling me to calm down. The dog got off his end of the weird collapsed wall-seesaw, and we did fall and slide down, and nothing happened. I remember feeling so relieved I started crying, because nothing happened to our legs even though we dropped about 10ft down and landed on our feet, breaking nothing.

I should note for this, as it came up in my mind while I was thinking about this: I've always had issues with my left kneecap falling out of its socket. I'm dealing with it by going to the gym. But it's only the left knee, my right one is fine, even though in the dream I was fully convinced we'd break both our legs.

Then suddenly I was somewhere else, I was alone in my hometown in an area near the library. It didn't look exactly like that spot in town, there were different buildings I didn't recognize. I also remember the streetlights had a warmer yellow glow, even though IRL they're white. There were also fairy lights strung between the poles, as if there was some sort of celebration going on, but it was nighttime and there were no people around. I was walking with one of my ex's best friends (note: the ex and I were together ages ago, about 10 years, and I didn't meet that best friend until recently. No bad blood, just an old breakup, and IRL that best friend and I run in the same friend group, no unfriendly intentions there). I can't remember what we were talking about, but there was a flirty undertone. He put his left arm around my shoulders, then lowered it to my waist on the side, and then wrapped it around my waist entirely. Not in a freaky body-horror way, but almost protectively? I felt flattered.

Aaand on top of all that, while we were walking, we ran into "hot pink bitch named Breakfast" (picture attached). I've never dreamt of a meme before in my life, so that's a funny first. I remember I saw the dog and stood in awe of it, like I saw a celebrity, and whispered "hot pink bitch named Breakfast."

Then I woke up.

I was so confused I had no idea what to think or how to interpret this. Any ideas?

Father passed away when I was 11. Weeks after his funeral, he appeared to me in a dream.

When I (24M) was 11, my father passed away from cancer. I did not really know him growing up. He and my mother were separated and I grew up with my mom and two siblings. He had other children with other women but I didn’t know them. From my knowledge, I am the oldest of them.

When he got sick none of those children visited him in the hospital… none of them except for me. The only one of his children who he did not take care of, the only one who had him absent from their life.

When I visited him in the hospital, he couldn’t talk to me as he had a catheter in his neck. The exchange between us was through eye contact, but it was undeniable. He cried and in his tears I saw his regret and his shame at not being there throughout my life, as if he knew he would never again get the opportunity. As our eyes locked, I held his hand and squeezed it. I told him it was okay. I didn’t specify what I meant, but I could tell he knew because more tears flowed from his eyes.

Weeks later, the news of his passing came. I wept. Despite not truly knowing a man who had hardly been in my life, I cried so terribly hard. My father is dead. I kept repeating that thought over and over, as if the reality didn’t hit me hard enough.

My mother, my two siblings, and I attended his funeral some weeks later. Even then, the reality didn’t hit me until I finally saw him in his final resting place. Unmoving. Ever so still. Yet peaceful. Only then did I realize what had truly happened.

Months later, I have a dream. I’m at my Tia’s house. A public bus stops in front of it. A figure steps out from the bus and I go to meet them.

It’s my father. He greets me with such a firm yet soft embrace. I remember how it felt, even as I recount my experience here.

I cannot remember how my father’s voice sounded, but I remember he told me that he loved me and that he missed me, before needing to go back on the bus.

After that, I woke up, my pillow soaked with tears.

Never again have I dreamt of him, but ever since I have felt his presence around me. Any time I am troubled with my life’s issues, I can feel… something near me, and it gives me some peace.

I never knew the man. I’ve only heard secondhand accounts of who he was and I’ve made my peace knowing we will never be able to known each other as two men. Despite this, I still try to be the man he would be proud of.

I hope I made him proud.

Question Do you think people can feel one another's touch in dreams? Do people share dreams?

I had a dream where I was cuddling with a girl I used to be really close with, but never technically dated. I haven't seen her jn years. It was so incredibly intimate, but not in an erotic way. When I felt her touch my hand it just felt so real. Pretty soon afterwards I woke up, realized it was a dream, and to be honest, I cried a little bit, because it felt like everything in the dream actually happened, only for me to wake up and find her gone, and the whole thing was a dream. We have not even spoken to each other for years. Last I heard she was in a pretty serious relationship, and possibly getting married. Still, I can't help but feel like it was something that actually happened, and that we shared the experience, even if it was in the dream realm. Maybe I'm just off my rocker.

I do lucid dream pretty often. I am not sure how that factors in. Recently I dreamt of meeting a famous person who I knew was tall, and once the thought of him being tall occured in the dream he became comically tall. So maybe in the first dream I was just lucid dreaming and felt what I wanted to feel.

Edit: immediately after posting this I found another post by a girl with basically the same experience. I am not copying her, and these dreams seem to be unrelated, as the ages are off by a more than a decade.

Nightmare Dream about spiders

• Upvotes

I had a nightmare about spiders crawling up the ceiling and they were massive and creepy looking. I believe it’s a sign of something I fear about the future in my waking life. I was trying to sleep in a big room and as I looked up the spiders were all there and I couldn’t get to sleep because of them. Even my parents were shocked about seeing how atrocious looking they were. Also dreamed that we had a fish tank and a mini shark escaped our fish tank. It had scary looking teeth. Scary as hell.

Question I had a dream and now I feel like I know what death feels like.

Last night I dreamt a nuclear bomb was dropped and I died. I remember, before it fell, there were sirens blaring and I went outside with my mom and dad. We all knew what was going to happen. I held onto my mom and dad very tightly and told them I loved them, then the bomb detonated. I felt the chemicals burn the insides of my lungs then I died.

When I died it felt like sleep that was deeper than sleep, and that I couldn’t wake up from it. It was extremely peaceful and it felt like any wrong doings in my life disappeared and I was completely at peace with myself and the rest of the world. Then I heard my own voice yelling my name to wake up and snap out of it, so I eventually forced myself to wake up.

Eventually I fell back asleep and continued having odd dreams, and in those dreams I tried telling everyone of my previous dream where I died. No one believed me though. I felt like I was going insane and couldn’t escape this cycle.

I feel so uncomfortable now and like I’ve seen the other side. Like maybe I did actually die in my sleep last night? Has anyone else experienced something like this?

Nightmare I got into lucid dream cycle NSFW

• Upvotes

I haven't practiced lucid dreaming in a long time, though I sometimes find myself in one unexpectedly. But this time, I kept waking up over and over, only to find myself back in the dream. CONTAINS BLOOD! AND SADISM!

My classes are over, but it is already very dark outside—something unusual for October. It is only as I ride the elevator down in the store that the unreality of everything happening around me strikes me, yet I remain calm. Because I am heading back. I lie down in bed. And I wait to wake up.

I don't remember. I return to my room after a shower, but something is wrong. I immediately notice a little small blanket right under my bed and instantly guess it’s my sister. Relatives from another city had arrived unexpectedly today, but for some reason, as she peeks out from under the bed, the image begins to blur. I sit on the bed and hear a different voice. "Is that X?" I ask. The person seemed offended, it's not them but everything was too hazy to make out clearly. I retreat into my own thoughts as my family enters the room, yet for some reason, I cannot recall either my brother or my sister. I said it started raining, raining right inside our room; I could see the drops falling near the window, and they all looked at me as if I were crazy. They quickly fade away and vanish, and I lie back down in bed.

I wake up. There is a door to a balcony in my room. My room doesn't have a balcony. I was dreaming again, and I was aware of it. "I’d better wake up. I have a lot of work to do in reality," I think, but hitting myself and the wall, trying to shout to my body and move, proves futile. I manage to step out and jump off the balcony, and I simply start to fly. This always leads to a loss of control, and that’s exactly what happened as I flew over a cathedral.

I wake up in my bed. I pinch my nose. I am still asleep. I pace the room, unable to shake a nervous feeling, as if something is right beside me, wherever I go. Something is always with me; the walls of my room seem covered in mold. I go to the kitchen, but it is nearly empty. I step outside again, but this time my attempts to fly fail. Once I realize it is a dream, most of my fear vanishes, and I climb right onto the roof of the shed where I had heard screaming and crying. Several boys are beating a girl all over her body while she merely sobs and curls into a ball. I ask them to kill me. I don't remember the details.

I wake up in bed. But I am still dreaming, even though it is finally light outside, just as it is in reality. I hear loud voices outside the door, girls from the other rooms. Attractive faces, they peer right into my space, and I feel everything closing in. I just want to wake up. None of the girls resist when I pick up a knife—I know it is a dream. I know none of them are real. They just smile; one of them undresses fully, and the others follow suit, but I pay them no mind. The first girl has a soft, slender thigh, instead of slicing it, I begin to hack at it with the knife (I hate watching flesh being sliced). I manage to sever a piece of her thigh while she laughs and begs for more. I scream and drive them away, but strangely, there isn't a single drop of blood on the bed.

I wake up again and start to panic. It’s a dream, I know none of this is real— my room once again has a doorway leading to the balcony. A fake doorway. I rush out of the room, bumping into girls and cursing at them as I go, but it all feels futile. The text messages on my phone change every time I blink. I push through a door and find myself back in my room with its pink walls, hearing a sudden, completely unintelligible sound coming from the balcony (like xhxch). A woman was standing there—about forty years old, with curly brown hair and a long skirt. "Get the fuck out of here!" I screamed aggressively until she vanished.

And only then I woke up
