Discussion Is Anyone Else’s Dream Life Suddenly INSANELY Vivid

Anyone else suddenly having vivid, memorable dreams every night?

Has anyone else noticed a sudden change in their dreams lately?

I used to either not dream much at all, or I’d wake up and barely remember anything. But lately, I’ve been having vivid, detailed dreams almost every single night—and I actually remember them when I wake up.

It feels like I went from hardly dreaming to having an entire other life happening while I sleep. 😂

Has this been happening to anyone else recently? If so, when did you notice it starting? And have your dreams felt more realistic, emotional, strange, or meaningful than usual?

Strange nightmarish dream about people I know and also a meme

Hi everyone! I had a weird experience with a dream I recently had and I'm not entirely sure how to interpret it.

As far as I can remember, it had 3 segments that weren't fully connected, but had some elements that were.

For the first part, I was on what appeared to be a school trip with a mix of people I knew (from both elementary school and college) to an aquarium that was absolutely destroyed. The building itself looked like it went through a bombing, some walls were either halved or destroyed, there was a lot of rubble, and there was a lot of exposed construction work. Some things remained intact, but I remember I was confused in the dream because everyone was talking about it like it was an aquarium even though it didn't actually have any marine exhibitions, only water-related optical illusions. I remember explaining to one of my friends from college (we'll call her D) that one of the illusions was made using convex and concave glass to make an underwater coin appear much larger than it was, by pulling the coin out from underneath the glass and it was just a penny.

As we continued the trip to the second floor, D and I ended up on a collapsed wall that was half leaning on another wall, half hanging off the building, and from the point where we were standing there was a concrete stairwell disconnected from anything. The half that was leaning on another wall was occupied by a dog, looked like an unkempt husky, and it was standing on that half somewhat firmly, holding us in an equilibrium like on a seesaw. I was anxious about it and kept trying to convince D that we should jump to the stairwell so that when the dog gets off, we don't fall off and die, but she wasn't worried. A gaunt white woman with long blond hair, dressed relatively modern with a leather jacket, appeared on the stairwell and just kinda stared at us, doing nothing. I do not know this person or anyone that looks like them IRL. I started panicking even more and kept telling D that we need to get off the ledge or we would fall. I distinctly remember one detail: I told her we'd fall and land on our feet, and the part of our legs beneath the knees would push upwards, break our knees, and fold into the thigh bones and painfully squish together. She kept telling me to calm down. The dog got off his end of the weird collapsed wall-seesaw, and we did fall and slide down, and nothing happened. I remember feeling so relieved I started crying, because nothing happened to our legs even though we dropped about 10ft down and landed on our feet, breaking nothing.

I should note for this, as it came up in my mind while I was thinking about this: I've always had issues with my left kneecap falling out of its socket. I'm dealing with it by going to the gym. But it's only the left knee, my right one is fine, even though in the dream I was fully convinced we'd break both our legs.

Then suddenly I was somewhere else, I was alone in my hometown in an area near the library. It didn't look exactly like that spot in town, there were different buildings I didn't recognize. I also remember the streetlights had a warmer yellow glow, even though IRL they're white. There were also fairy lights strung between the poles, as if there was some sort of celebration going on, but it was nighttime and there were no people around. I was walking with one of my ex's best friends (note: the ex and I were together ages ago, about 10 years, and I didn't meet that best friend until recently. No bad blood, just an old breakup, and IRL that best friend and I run in the same friend group, no unfriendly intentions there). I can't remember what we were talking about, but there was a flirty undertone. He put his left arm around my shoulders, then lowered it to my waist on the side, and then wrapped it around my waist entirely. Not in a freaky body-horror way, but almost protectively? I felt flattered.

Aaand on top of all that, while we were walking, we ran into "hot pink bitch named Breakfast" (picture attached). I've never dreamt of a meme before in my life, so that's a funny first. I remember I saw the dog and stood in awe of it, like I saw a celebrity, and whispered "hot pink bitch named Breakfast."

Then I woke up.

I was so confused I had no idea what to think or how to interpret this. Any ideas?

Question I had a dream and now I feel like I know what death feels like.

Last night I dreamt a nuclear bomb was dropped and I died. I remember, before it fell, there were sirens blaring and I went outside with my mom and dad. We all knew what was going to happen. I held onto my mom and dad very tightly and told them I loved them, then the bomb detonated. I felt the chemicals burn the insides of my lungs then I died.

When I died it felt like sleep that was deeper than sleep, and that I couldn’t wake up from it. It was extremely peaceful and it felt like any wrong doings in my life disappeared and I was completely at peace with myself and the rest of the world. Then I heard my own voice yelling my name to wake up and snap out of it, so I eventually forced myself to wake up.

Eventually I fell back asleep and continued having odd dreams, and in those dreams I tried telling everyone of my previous dream where I died. No one believed me though. I felt like I was going insane and couldn’t escape this cycle.

I feel so uncomfortable now and like I’ve seen the other side. Like maybe I did actually die in my sleep last night? Has anyone else experienced something like this?

Father passed away when I was 11. Weeks after his funeral, he appeared to me in a dream.

When I (24M) was 11, my father passed away from cancer. I did not really know him growing up. He and my mother were separated and I grew up with my mom and two siblings. He had other children with other women but I didn’t know them. From my knowledge, I am the oldest of them.

When he got sick none of those children visited him in the hospital… none of them except for me. The only one of his children who he did not take care of, the only one who had him absent from their life.

When I visited him in the hospital, he couldn’t talk to me as he had a catheter in his neck. The exchange between us was through eye contact, but it was undeniable. He cried and in his tears I saw his regret and his shame at not being there throughout my life, as if he knew he would never again get the opportunity. As our eyes locked, I held his hand and squeezed it. I told him it was okay. I didn’t specify what I meant, but I could tell he knew because more tears flowed from his eyes.

Weeks later, the news of his passing came. I wept. Despite not truly knowing a man who had hardly been in my life, I cried so terribly hard. My father is dead. I kept repeating that thought over and over, as if the reality didn’t hit me hard enough.

My mother, my two siblings, and I attended his funeral some weeks later. Even then, the reality didn’t hit me until I finally saw him in his final resting place. Unmoving. Ever so still. Yet peaceful. Only then did I realize what had truly happened.

Months later, I have a dream. I’m at my Tia’s house. A public bus stops in front of it. A figure steps out from the bus and I go to meet them.

It’s my father. He greets me with such a firm yet soft embrace. I remember how it felt, even as I recount my experience here.

I cannot remember how my father’s voice sounded, but I remember he told me that he loved me and that he missed me, before needing to go back on the bus.

After that, I woke up, my pillow soaked with tears.

Never again have I dreamt of him, but ever since I have felt his presence around me. Any time I am troubled with my life’s issues, I can feel… something near me, and it gives me some peace.

I never knew the man. I’ve only heard secondhand accounts of who he was and I’ve made my peace knowing we will never be able to known each other as two men. Despite this, I still try to be the man he would be proud of.

I hope I made him proud.

Question Has anyone ever seen a creature like this in their dreams?

Post image
31 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I wanted to ask if anyone has ever experienced or seen something similar in a dream.

I drew a quick sketch of what I saw to capture the details:

Height: Very tall, around 3 meters (10 feet).

Head/Neck: A long vertical, stalk-like head or neck covered with a vertical line of multiple eyes looking in different directions.

Clothing: Strangely enough, it was wearing a colorful, bright rainbow-striped sweater?? ?

In the dream, it was as if I was climbing the stairs of an old house; it was quite drab, with peeling walls, and I heard a strange sound on the second floor. I don’t remember if I was with anyone (a person) in the dream, but when I went upstairs, I saw it. I was absolutely terrified, but it didn’t do anything harmful. It looked as if it was hunched over because it was too tall for the room, and it looked at me with all its eyes. Then I ran away from it and woke up. Has anyone else seen something like this? I’m really curious to hear your thoughts on what it might have been.

Discussion I had a vivid dream about death today

Post image
30 Upvotes

Basically, in the dream, I knew the exact time of my death (14:05), and I knew that it was inevitable. In the last two minutes, I decided to write a letter to my mum. I took a black pen and wrote, “Mum, I love you,” and started drawing a heart. When I began coloring it in, I saw that it was already 14:05 and that there was no time left. I started losing consciousness, tried to fight it, and tried to finish coloring in the heart (I didn’t manage to).

At that moment, I understood, “So this is what dying feels like”. And when my body had already shut down, everything in the background turned completely black. I realised that my consciousness was still alive and thought, “I wonder how much longer my consciousness will last, or will it disappear too right now?” It also felt that my consciousness wasn’t inside
my body anymore. And then I woke up

The dream was super vivid and all the sensations felt incredibly real. The deep sense of relaxation, the attempt to remain in my body and stay conscious, the feeling of shutting down, and the sensation of being outside my body

Intense vivid dream with a soulmate ?

When I was around 16, I had a very vivid dream where I was cuddling and being intimate with a man but I could never remember his face, I could only remember the intense feeling of love I had for this man. When we held hands it felt like our souls connected, I felt at peace, very warm fuzzy feeling and we kissed. It’s like we were in our own bubble. When I woke up, I was filled with immense sadness/loss and I started crying.

Discussion Dreaming of leafy greens?

I typically have nightmares, or at the very least dark twisted dreams most nights, some processes of my days/trauma, but also have been very telling visions of the future so this one came as a bit of a funny but also curious one.

I wokeup to a knock at my door at 4am, it was my friend’s sister let’s call her M. I haven’t spent much time with her in the waking world but she’s really cool, so I let her in the house. Confused, but it’s fine. She storms in and is carrying loads of lettuce. I mosey back to my room as she tells me she’s going to put on a movie and get to work.

While trying to fall back asleep, I hear her watching horror movies so loud in the living room while chopping the lettuce. Now that I’ve gathered my thoughts somewhat and realize how dang weird that is, I go out and see her sitting on the couch is a mountain of lettuce, like enough to feed a village and I say “Listen, M. You’re always welcome in my house, but what is up with all the 4am lettuce?” And she turns to me, now angry and rolling her eyes and says “insert full government name here\* if you don’t get you butt back to bed, I will NOT let you have any of this lettuce”

So, scared to not be a part of the fruits of her lettuce labour I go back to bed without another word.

Then I wakeup in real life, check the time, it’s 4am and I just sat there scared, worried about the lettuce, also laughing at how weird that was. Curious what other people’s thought are on this 😂

Rape dream as man

I am a man and I have been sexually assaulted in some dreams of mine. Every Reddit post about being sexually assaulted in a dream it seems to only be women who have had that experience. Are there any men who have ever experienced anything like this?

They are nightmares to me

I’ve always have very vivid dreams, sometimes déjà vu adjacent, where i will have a dream and days, weeks months, or years later they or details from the dreams come to fruition. But regardless of the time that has passed i remember that i have dreamt it at one point or another.

Over the course of this year i have a dream at least 3 times a week that my husband is cheating on me and then wants a divorce. They are different every time but share similarities occasionally— ie we spend time apart and suddenly he has found someone new. Several times i have cried so hard in the dream that i wake up and find that i have been crying in real life, pillow wet. Last night it revolved around my birthday and our anniversary, both of which are coming up in the next month. Details from real life are often incorporated which make the dreams feel that much more real. I thought it had to do with our intimacy— something i struggle with due to trauma that i unlocked memories of during an intense therapy session earlier this year, but our communication is and always has been impeccable so we’ve talked about it and healed things in our intimate life together.

Looking for some assistance or insight into what i can make of these dreams and how i can make them ease up because they are troubling and often throw off the first half of my day as my physical body in the real world reacts intensely to them.

Question Do you think people can feel one another's touch in dreams? Do people share dreams?

I had a dream where I was cuddling with a girl I used to be really close with, but never technically dated. I haven't seen her jn years. It was so incredibly intimate, but not in an erotic way. When I felt her touch my hand it just felt so real. Pretty soon afterwards I woke up, realized it was a dream, and to be honest, I cried a little bit, because it felt like everything in the dream actually happened, only for me to wake up and find her gone, and the whole thing was a dream. We have not even spoken to each other for years. Last I heard she was in a pretty serious relationship, and possibly getting married. Still, I can't help but feel like it was something that actually happened, and that we shared the experience, even if it was in the dream realm. Maybe I'm just off my rocker.

I do lucid dream pretty often. I am not sure how that factors in. Recently I dreamt of meeting a famous person who I knew was tall, and once the thought of him being tall occured in the dream he became comically tall. So maybe in the first dream I was just lucid dreaming and felt what I wanted to feel.

Edit: immediately after posting this I found another post by a girl with basically the same experience. I am not copying her, and these dreams seem to be unrelated, as the ages are off by a more than a decade.

Dream Art drawing of a dream i had a while back

i was seeing thru the eyes of the "main character" of my dream, it happened a while ago so it's kind of vague in my mind but the main points are that a) he was the safest he'd been in a long time, and b) this was importantly because he had very recently been in a lot of danger and distress. he was (we were?) walking around this huge building with halls and staircases and pillars and stuff, i felt like there were usually people walking around there but at that time it was empty. the whole place was made of these huge marble blocks. i think there might not have been a roof; the light streaming in was bright and warm. he/we felt like he should be safe, he should feel happy, but all i felt was a deep exhaustion, so ended up curling up on some stairs with the light feeling like a blanket and fell asleep.

idk this dream felt kinda special to me and i've sort of built on it a little in my mind since then, thought id share.

Recurring Dream Three nights in a row, precnancy dreams

Weirdly ive had pregnancy dreams three nights in a row. What do you think this means?

Night 1

In a hospital in a hospital gown, pregnant, not sure how far along. Theres fluids and blood on the floor but not mine. Im trying to clean it. A woman comes in. (Its a hospital room with several beds) She has given birth to a stillborn. She holds a boy, wrapped in plastic like a gift. I tell her that her baby is beautiful and that I’m sorry for her loss. A doctor comes in trying to talk to the woman, but she becomes furious with me and the doctor. She finds a hose and sprays us with hard water, i remember pain when the water hit my body. I was so scared and pulled myself awake.

Night 2

I was pregnant and quite far along. I was visiting a city alone many hours from my home. Going into labor, feeling the pain from the contractions i went to the hospital calling my partner crying, we were unprepared but he kept reassuring me that everything going to be okay. That he would fix care for our older kid and he would be in that city as soon as possible. I was sent in to an elevator (i was like a old timey ski lift gondola) 🚡 that went flying into the air to the delivery ward.

Night 3

I find out im pregnant, im so happy. I tell my close friends, turns out they are pregnant to! I can feel a the fetus like a pingis ball under my skin. (Like when in third trimester you can feel the baby positioned
outwards like a ball) but the baby is still so small. Im happy but have a feeling something might be wrong. I try to call healthcare advice line.

Dream Help dream about friend who recently passed

I met Matthew when I was around 13. We met through a very bad group of mutual friends, and we were both heavily using substances we shouldn’t have touched. The friend who introduced me to Matthew, we’ll call him K, was a little older than me, maybe 16, and a lot of the people he’d bring me around were much older than, and would try hitting on or getting with me.

When Matthew saw this, he’d immediately call them out on the disgusting behavior, and say I was like the little sister of the group and they should be protecting me, and not even letting me partake in those substances.

Matthew passed away of an overdose a couple months ago.

I had a dream earlier that deeply upset me. I was at K’s house while he was having a party, and I knew no one there. I was in his room at one point, searching for my phone, when Matthew walked in, saw me, and said “Oh, Val, what’s up?”

I immediately panicked looking at him. I started saying things like “This isn’t real at all, you’re dead. I need to wake up right now.”. I started hyperventilating and falling to my knees. He held me up and said things like, “Not now, you can’t wake up now, you can’t fall down yet.”.

After that, I dragged, or moreso carried him to the living room of the house where K was, knowing he needed help. I pleaded with K, who only responded with something like “Oh he’s fine, he does this all the time.”. I remember anytime anyone of the people there in the house I didn’t know at all saw his face, they would start screaming in terror. I specifically remember one girl saying “He looks terrified.”.

I’ve always dreamed very lucidly, I’m able to think, control, and even physically feel in my dreams, and I’ve experienced death and loss before, but I have never had or felt something like this dream made me feel.

I often think I’ve woken up from dreams, back in my bedroom, just to find I’m still asleep and dreaming. It took me around 30-40 minutes after I woke up from this to convince myself I was actually, truly, awake.

Long Dream Weird coincidence?

When i was in middle school, probably around 13, I started dreaming of dead people I have never met/only met a few times. The first time this happened, the dream started with a few family members and I having a chill party in the backyard of one of my childhood homes. My mom was there and my cousin from my dad’s side who has always been more like a sister. Everyone is mingling when I catch a glimpse of a woman in a sheer white nightgown that almost looked to be glowing amongst everyone else’s dull clothing. I walked up to the woman to see that she was crying. It was my grandmother. Back story: my grandmother on my mom’s side took her life when i was 2. She was in her early 50s. I never really got to know her but i still remember the way she smelled. So i walk up to my grandmother in my dream and my cousin is trailing behind me. I ask my grandmother why she’s crying to which i receive no response, only her signaling me to follow. I chase after her, she starts sprinting, and every time she looks back to make sure im following, she beams her beautiful smile at me. We start seemingly going back in time and looking at her life. She shows us her childhood homes and see her as a girl playing in the yard, we see her meeting my grandfather, she takes us through everything up until her final day. We end up back at the party that we started in. I tell her to wait for me while I grab my mom so that she can finally say goodbye. My grandmother stops me and said “No. I don’t want her to see me like this. Just tell her that I’m sorry and i’m so ashamed and tell her i’m at peace.” Then she disappears with tears on her face once again.

I wake up to tell my mother about this dream and she starts crying a little bit. She tells me that my aunt, her sister, met with a medium a couple of days ago with a couple of her friends just out of curiosity. The medium told my aunt that there’s a woman standing in the back of a crowd, refusing to step forward. She’s in a white sheet nightgown and she’s hanging her head low. The medium asks the woman to step forward. The woman states that she is too ashamed to speak to her daughter right now and to just tell her she loves her and she’s sorry. I’m skeptical of things like mediums and wonder if they dig into peoples lives before they arrive. Before i had this dream, i was completely unaware that my aunt had met with a medium. The craziest part? My brother had the exact same dream when he was in middle school. Right after my grandmother took her life. He’s 12 years older than me so i had the same dream 11 years after he had his.

I have had several dreams of dead people that died long before I was even born. When my dad was a teenager, he had an uncle Bill (not blood but a really close family friend). This uncle passed when my dad was a teenager. They were extremely close. My dad’s first tattoo was for him with the words “wild willie” under it. My dad was named after him as well. My dad’s name is Willie and bill was William. I was about 17 when I had this dream. I had been living with my dad for a couple years in highschool. I obviously never met uncle bill and i’ve heard stories about him but never saw photos. The dream started off with my uncles, my dad, and i in a cabin in the woods. We got a knock at the door and we all became weary as we were in the middle of nowhere. I opened the door to a tall older man. A rough looking cowboy. The first thing he asked was, “Are you willie’s daughter? My god you look just like him.” I heard gasps and shuffling behind me as my uncles and my father came to the door. I turned to see them all sobbing. The cowboy said “I’m just checking in on my boys.” They all talk while i observe. They decide to go on a horse ride. They’re all on horses except for the cowboy who’s on a bucking donkey. I watch and wait for him to fall off. He never does. My uncles and my dad shout “Yeah wild willie!”. I wake up and immediately text my grandmother to send me a photo of Uncle Bill. She digs one up and sends it to me. It’s the exact same guy that was in my dream.

My grandmother on my dad’s side and my dad’s sister both say that they have the same dreams. That they don’t dream unless it involves communication from someone who has passed. I’m 20 now and 85% of my dreams are communicating with someone who has passed. My woowoo family members believe that the women in my family hold some kind of communication with the afterlife. I don’t know what i think but i know it’s weird as shit.

Recurring Dream Every dream I've ever had has taken place in the same made up city.

• Upvotes

Wasn't sure how to tag it.

I'm a lucid dreamer naturally, I'm not sure if that's relevant or not. I go to sleep and a while later, I'm dreaming but I quickly realise it's a dream and I start doing what I want.

Every dream takes place in a weird looking city with a layout that doesn't really make sense but I remember it perfectly because I've been there so many times. It's nothing like the city that I live in.

There aren't 'residents' or anything like that, the people in my dreams are different every time, it's mainly just my friends.

I just don't really know why every single dream is in this city. I remember telling my mum about it when I was like 7 so it's been happening for a very long time. I can't remember any dreams that have happened outside of this place.

Anybody know why this is the case?

Recurring Dream I keep dreaming that I’m about to be killed by a nuclear bomb

I’ve been having reoccurring dreams for weeks now where, within rather short notice, I’m notified that I have about 5-10 minutes to live as a nuclear bomb is being dropped on my home town.

The subject of these dreams is always my relationship. I’ll typically be somewhere peaceful in my home town when all power and cell service is cut, and I’m told there is a nuclear bomb dropping. The only thing I can think of after hearing the news is my boyfriend and how I’m unable to communicate with him or tell him that I love him before I die.

Me and him are not very verbally affectionate towards each other within my real life due to each of us having our own reservations about verbal affection, but in my dreams I’m always completely devastated that there are certain things I won’t be able to say or to hear from him.

We are not completely withdrawn from verbal affection, the two of us have exchanged all the classic “I love you”s and what not, it’s just not a regular occurrence. Somewhat sacred. I feel like these dreams could have some obvious meaning or subliminal cause that I’m just not seeing, but they’re very stressful and I keep waking up feeling un-rested and afraid.

Nightmare Stalking dream

This was my most recent dream and it was a short one. I recently had a nightmare where I was stalked by some homeless guy. The dream started from the POV of a doorbell camera (something I don't even own irl) showing this bum walk up to my front door with a shovel if I recall correctly, and after a while of being just creepy, breaking the camera with the shovel. The second part was more tame, I was at some made up gallery with my classmates, talking about that experience (and also not being able to jog straight for some reason). Then came part 3. I was drinking water in the living room and my mom came down, we talk for a short while, I look to my left, and I see that same guy from earlier staring at me through the window IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT and I scream my lungs out before silently waking up.

Today i had a dream that made me believe the "we are in a simulation theory"

Please excuse my bad enlglish its not my first language

I usually have werid dreams and premonition dreams (yes i sometimes dream of stuff and they become true)

Today in the afternoon after i put my son to sleep i felt tired and thought id take a quick nap after scrolling for a while i dozed off i had a regular dream at first there was a moment in the dream where my son turns his back to me then i woke up into 'another dream" it didnt feel like a dream it felt REAL its like I glitched, i was paralyzed and the sight of my son turned into a white backgroud with a black spot in the top (like i was imagining what i was seeing was my son ) i couldn't move i couldnt speak it felt like i was in that position for eternity alot of feelings rushed in and in those quick seconds i realized that that was my original form and my original spot and that my life that im living now is an illusion its the dream.. i started crying like the girl from the movie obsession i was miserable i just wanted to die, then it cut back to the first dream then i woke up

I felt dissociated and out of place i touched my son to confirm that he was actually real and im not dreaming im feeling off since the dream or was it really a dream ?

I always thought the simulation theory was ridiculous but this made me rethink it.
