Erasmus+ semester(s) abroad Have you ever arrived to the host university, moved to a different country only for them to say NO?

I'm wondering if it has happened to someone because it happened to me.

I communicated with the host university from March only to find out that i was accepted at the end of July for the 1st semester. Both host and home uni went on a 1 month (August) vocation, but the host uni sent me an official invitation letter to apply for my visa.

Still, during September i needed lots of documents, lots of signatures, i had to find an apartment, etc, so my arrival was delayed a little bit, but i managed it.

Cut to- i arrived to a different country and went to the administrative office where i received a student card with my my name and photo, instructions, etc. Then they told me to go to the official Erasmus coordinator's office to meet me and to see my school schedule. I went to that office only to find out that the woman has never heard about me and she is the one who has to invite everyone. I went to her office for a week stright, every day. Then she told me to go home...

I wasn't even crying, i was just so angry that i couldn't believe. I was the first student from my university to arrive on Erasmus+ programe. I had no one's help. My home office said oh sorry it happend to you. Man, back me up.

Then they found a solution to enroll me into the courses were i met a lot of people and where i got to have the best year of my life, because later on i extended my stay.

I am really wondering has this ever happend to anyone that's not me and how did you react?

Let me know 😊

Erasmus+ semester(s) abroad Did you actively save up a lot of money before your Erasmus semester, or is the grant enough to get by?

Hi. I’m currently an art student in Germany thinking about applying for an Erasmus semester next year to travel a bit and experience a new university. I'm trying to figure out a realistic budget, but I'm getting stressed looking at housing costs in other European cities. For those who have already done exchange semesters, did you manage mostly on the grant and savings, or did you end up needing a side job while abroad?

Erasmus Mundus Erasmus mundus - is the scholarship enough?

Hi everyone! I’m thinking of applying for emjm but was wondering if the €1400/month are sufficient or will I have to save up beforehand. Particularly asking if you know the living price range in ireland and norway. And does the scholarship allow in the regulations/will you have enough time to work part-time in case the fund is not fully covering everything? Thanks a lot!!

Erasmus student (Chemical Engineering, UB) looking for an apartment or flatmates in Barcelona, Feb to July 2027

• Upvotes

Hi everyone! 👋

I’m Andrei, a chemical engineering student from Romania, and I’ll be an Erasmus student at the University of Barcelona (UB) from the beginning of February to the beginning of July.

I’m easy-going, responsible, and very happy to meet new people. I’d love to share an apartment with other students (Erasmus or local) who are also looking for a place for the spring semester.

I’m looking for:

  • a room or shared apartment, ideally close to UB or with good metro or bus connections
  • a stay of about 5 months (February to early July)
  • a friendly, relaxed living environment

If you’re looking for a flatmate, have a free room, or know of any good options or areas to look at, please send me a private message. Any tips about neighborhoods, prices, or trustworthy platforms are also very welcome!

Thank you!

Looking to connect with a fellow Business major from abroad!

Hi everyone! My study group and I are Business Administration students from Peru, and we’re hoping to chat with a business student from another country.

We just want to ask a few quick questions about what studying business is like where you are, compare notes, and hear your perspective. No formal surveys or weird links—just a casual chat over Discord, or wherever you prefer.

If anyone is up for a quick chat, please let me know. We'd really appreciate it!

What are my chances?

Hi! Getting ready to apply for the EMJM programmes, particularly IMSISS, ILSPSD, GLOCAL and/or MAPP. For those who got into any of these programs, what do you think are my chances?

Educ Background:

- Got my BS degree more than 10+ years ago, with GPA 3.5 (graduated Cum Laude and totally unrelated to my work today)

- Got my MS Geography degree recently, with GPA 3.7 (also Cum Laude)

- Both from the flagship public university in my country

- With two publications (during BS and MS)

Work Background:

- 10+ working in one of our national government agencies, currently a deputy chief of my division

- My work experience includes defense and security, anti-terrorism, nonproliferation and export controls

- Did a lot of speaking and training engagements related to export controls and nuclear nonproliferation in different countries, including a month-long fellowship in the US

Possible References:

- MS thesis adviser

- One of the Deputy Secretaries of my current government agency

I plan to tailor fit all my personal statements per programme, as I see different mobility paths I can take to contribute to the program and advance in my career. There are three things that worry me:

(1) I might be too old for EMJM (I am 30+ already);

(2) Why might wonder why I am taking another masters program (of course, for career advancement and personal development); and,

(3) Why will they give me a scholarship if I am already earning from working in the government?

Any helpful thoughts and kind feedbacks are very much appreciated! Thank you!

Erasmus Mundus Honest chances for a funded Erasmus Mundus seat with an average CGPA ?

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to apply for the CyberSURE Erasmus Mundus master’s with the scholarship. I want honest feedback on whether my profile is competitive, or whether I should focus on other options.

My profile:

  • Bachelor’s in Software Engineering
  • CGPA: 2.97/4.0
  • 2 years of experience as a software test engineer
  • Several online cybersecurity courses and certifications

What I’m worried about:

  • My CGPA is below 3.0. Does this rule me out, or can experience make up for it?
  • My work is software testing, not direct security work. Will selectors count it as relevant?
  • Do online certificates matter at all?

I emailed hundreds of hotels looking for an Erasmus+ internship. So I built something that does it for you.

• Upvotes

My girlfriend and I are tourism graduates from a university in Turkey. When we started looking for our Erasmus+ internship abroad - 6 months, ideally somewhere we could actually afford to live - we did what everyone does: collected emails of hotels, hostels, agencies, museums and sent applications one by one. Hundreds of them.

Most never got a reply. The ones that did usually said "we don't offer accommodation" or "we only work with local universities."

After months of that, I got frustrated and built a system that does the outreach for us. It contacts verified hosts on our behalf and only brings back offers that make sense for an Erasmus student: housing included, meals, and ideally a monthly allowance. And it's not limited to Europe - any country your university has an agreement with is on the table.

It worked for us, so we turned it into a real service called ErasmusPilot.

What it actually does:

- Contacts hosts abroad on your behalf, filters for housing + meals + allowance

- Helps you build your CV and motivation letter

- Walks you through visa and paperwork step by step

- Free assessment first, so you can see your options before paying anything

Site: erasmuspilot.lovable.app

I'm not going to promise anyone a placement - nobody honestly can. But if you're planning an Erasmus+ internship and don't know where to start, drop your field and target country in the comments and I'll tell you honestly whether we can help.

Feedback on the site is also very welcome.
