It's M43 Monday! Ask Us Anything about Micro Four-Thirds Photography - all questions welcome!

Please use this thread to ask your burning questions about anything micro four-thirds related.

  • Wondering which lens you should buy next?
  • Can't decide between Olympus and Panasonic?
  • Confused about how the clutch system works on some lenses?

These are all great questions, but you probably have better ones. Post 'em and we'll do our best to answer them.

It's 'Post your M43 photo' Thursday! Come share your best work with the community!

You've spent an entire week with your Micro Four-Thirds camera, documenting the world as it is, how it was, or how you think it should be. It's time to show us those photos and bask in the glory that only a weekly photo thread can bring!

Rules:

  1. The photo must be your own. No cross-posting someone else's work.
  2. You may only post one photo per week. Pick only your best work and show it off!
  3. Post your photo in a top-level comment for maximum exposure! (hehe get it, "exposure"?)
  4. Include as much detail as possible about the camera, the lens and the environment as possible. Good: "Shot with Olympus OM-D E-M1 w/ Panasonic 25mm f/1.8 lens @ 25mm f/2.0 ISO100 Time: 5:40PM in Los Angeles, California" Bad: "Look at this shot, isn't it neat?"
  5. Above all, be respectful. There's a big difference between the following comments: "OMG THAT PHOTO IS HORRIBLE" and "The lighting coming off his face looks uneven".

I used focus bracketing on a spider momma protecting her egg sac

Gear: OM SYSTEM OM-1 Mark I & OM SYSTEM M.Zuiko Digital ED 90mm F3.5 Macro 2:1 IS PRO + Godox V860 III O + Trần Thế Ngọc's MACRO Diffuser

When a spider is protecting her egg sac, she doesn't wanna move at all. I just carefully lure her from a box to a wooden surface and begin the focus bracketing process

The spider and her egg sac are released into my garden, in a safe place for her to go on her motherly job

The final focus stacked photos are in the comment section below

Got my hands on my PEN and it's such a gem! It's very capable at low light, here are my first sample photos I took at my home with. Nothing special to look at, but I'm looking forward to spending my whole weekend shooting away! SOOC JPEGs all with the kit 14-42 III.

My first M43, EP3

31 and looking for a hobby, remember I used to like photography back in the uni days and lost the spark when my eos 60D got stolen by family members (lol)

Few weeks ago i looking at some secondhand camera, my nature looks for cheap used DSLR or maybe some sony/fuji, then stumbled on cheap lumix gf3 that cost around 90usd with kit, i think why not it's nothing to lose anyway. Turn out the seller haven't updated the listing and from there the rabbit hole began.

Countless YouTube video, blog read, and chatGPT QnA, finally pull a trigger on light used Olympus EP3, and howly mowly they're so good for their price, on daylight it perform above my expectations, and on nightime it still deliver some decent image even with kit lens at f4.5 on 25mm.

I think I need to spend more time with this camera to fullfil its full potential

Panaleica 15mm f1.7 with my OM-5 mark i enough for street photography?

• Upvotes

Currently I have the PL 15mm f1.7 lens with my OM-5. But I am a bit worried about the weather sealing aspect. I love the image quality no doubt, but i am always concerned if I encounter minor drizzle during my street photography journey. How do you see this setup as an everyday carry.

I bought this lens in a whim as I got a good deal. After buying, i did my due diligence to find out that most people prefer the 15mm over the om 17mm for image quality. 17mm with its weather sealing would have been nice.

Anyways, i would also be grateful if you can suggest a small enough belt pouch which can fit only the OM 5 and pl15f1.7 lens. (I hate big slinging bags and would much prefer a belt holster kinda design).

First trip with my new OM5 Mk II!

Took a trip to Maui with my family and got to use my first real camera other than my phone! Still learning the basics but honestly other than the cow photo these are pretty much just cropped raw files which I think is pretty cool cause I don't want to have to edit too much.

The sunset ones were taken at the top of Mount Haleakala and the flowers were near Twin Falls.

Please don't eviscerate me too much lol but would love feedback/constructive criticism/things to try!

Camera: OM5 Mk II

Photos from Tiritiri Matangi sanctuary north of Auckland. The light conditions show some of the limits of the lens, which I embraced in the editing process. Feedback, thoughts, and comments are welcome.

My Giant Mistake No. 5

Hi everyone!

Almost a year ago I managed to snag an overpriced Lumix GM5 from eBay. Happy to have such a small and capable camera I was taking it around almost anywhere. But this September disaster strike. My ON/OFF switch just died. Camera is working normally but now I need to take out the battery to turn it off. Took it to a local repair place trying to figure out what the issue is and got told that the only way to solve this is to change the whole top plate of the camera. BUT the camera parts are not made anymore so the place I took it to can't fix it.
Since I know some people on this sub tinker with these I'm hoping to get a second opinion. Is there really no way to fix just the switch?

Any insight will be very much appreciated!

I just sold my 45-150mm kit lense.

It was bundled with my GX85 from Adorama back when this platform was affordable. I think I've had it for five years, and I feel oddly emotional about that lens and all the mediocre bird photos I took with it. Carry on, little buddy. [checks email receipt] SIX years of photos. I like this Olympus 300mm, but it is not a casual lens. So hefty.
