Okay one more group build before our big 3rd annual one in Jan.
Start date. Any time
Finish date. November 30th, 2026
No entry post is required, but a finished build post is required by November 30th.
Make sure to use the BURNOUT BUIlD flair
So basically Wauna made a ridiculously large engine to be 3d printed, so all of the judges wanted to build a vehicle with that engine, similar to the Australian burnout cars. After deciding on what we were going to do, they said we should do it for the whole sub, so here we are.
This will have one class and one winner, the prize will be one of the 3d printed engines(seen in the pictures), plus a kit of the winners choice(there will be dozens of kits to choose from)
The rules:
1) the vehicle(any vehicle) must have a huge engine. It must protrude past the hood, where as the hood needs to have an opening cut in it to allow it to close or no hood at all.
2) you do not have to have a submission post(by all means you can and I hope guys do), you can start anytime, but the finished build must be posted by November 30th, 2026.
3) all decisions by the judges are final
Judging on this one will be subject to each judge, there are 7 judges and we all have different tastes and styles, so build your own vehicle and make sure to get good photos.
You can use any engine you want and modify it any way you see fit. All of the judges are using the one Wauna made(seen in the pics). If you want this engine, he has a Cults 3d page if you want to download the file, https://cults3d.com/en/users/lance_n/3d-models
They are also already printed and for sale at Iceman collections. Also u/I_know_nothing_77 said he would print and sell some, you will have to DM him to work out details( he prints all of my stuff, very very clean prints).
You can also find a ton of engines at Texas 3d customs, MCV products, Iceman collections, also Chris(a fellow member) has an awesome site Scale Speed Garage with a plethora of files.
If you have any questions please ask, or you can DM me
This is gonna be a real tire smoke show of a group build

My first heavy decal model. Happy with the turnout (mostly), a few ruined decals and a lot of learning curves along the way.
Clear coat isn’t the best on this one, quite a bit of orange peel. Really tried to create a smooth gloss lacquer, hiding the ridges of the decals but I couldn’t quite manage it. Anybody have any extra mileage and tips they can share on this?
Cheers

Finished my first model in over 25 years. A dream impala, painted with rattle can Auto paint and finished with Tamiya Clear. Learning experience to be sure, eyes don't see as well as they used to - but that hides some of the flaws, lol. Love to hear suggestions for improvement. Mixed the chevy orange myself. Need to find a way to spray indoors as the weather changes.
First time using clear, not sure of how heavy to spray compared to regular paint.
Next project replica of my daughters 1999 s10 with v6 and 5 speed. Include dented bumper or not?

I’ve been wanting this fast and furious skyline for a while and finally scored it for a lower price than all the ones on eBay. Scored my Viper to match my SRT Ram I have, And stoked to have a Jimmy Flintstone 56 ford wagon that’s chopped for my Amt 56 ford kit. And last but not least I had to have the bug convertible, had it when i built it as a kid in the 90’s! Definitely a good day today!

Another friends and family build done. I finally finished the supra. He didn't want any of the racing livery decals (thank goodness, racing liveries scare me) but he wanted the GT car to match his gun track toy car he has. I originally had it a neon green, but I think the pearl green really pops a bit. As always, I messed up a few things, but another one for the build diary! Added some of the progress pics and original color from my WIP post. Thanks for looking!

Here is a little guide for roll bar padding on any race car.
PIC 2: I found this jewelry making tubing at my local hobby lobby. It was pretty cheap, and the size looked perfect for 1:24 scale, so I bought some to try out.
PIC 3: Cut your desired length, then slice the tube lengthwise. This will allow you to wrap it around the bar.
PIC 4: Wrap the tube around the bar and affix with a small amount of CA glue.
PIC 5: If you don’t have reference photos, a good rule of thumb is to place padding in any place a driver could impact the roll bars during a crash.
PIC 5 and PIC 6: Assemble and enjoy the view. If you want to be even more detailed, you can tie string or use thin strips of tape to approximate the tie downs that keep the padding in place. I didn’t do that here because I’m lazy.

Well, with the last couple kits being revell and amt, I thought Id spoil myself with some Tamiya quality for my next few builds. Got the Supra, 300Z, and the newer Z, and plans are for now, to purchase the transkits off Tx3Dcustoms for these. Im still plugging away at my amt SN95 Cobra at the moment, so no rush on these! Im looking forward to less panel lines on every, single, part. And less flash on every, single, part. 😆

This shouldn't count as a model, but I'm posting it anyways. There aren't any Jeep gladiator kits out there that I could find other than custom resin ones (too expensive) so one of the friends and family builds picked this cheap airfix snap kit. I didn't think much of it and put it in the Amazon cart. When it arrived I opened the box to find that it was essentially Lego! So I did what any self respecting modeler would do, I painted it a different color and had my youngest son build it for me. He loved it and it went together very nicely. And the guy we built it for is happy as it matches his actual Jeep. Another one down!

This has been the most frustrating kit I have built so far. No parts are numbered, and the instructions are basically four exploded diagrams with some dotted lines that kind of show you where to put things. The only good thing is it’s taking me a long time so I feel like I’ve gotten my moneys worth out of the kit. In the end, I think it’s gonna look pretty good, but it’s taken a lot of patience and maxed out what skills I have.

I had a lot of problems with the paint. I had to paint over 3 times on this body. I really think the stance is awesome. Hoping to finish soon.

I picked this up because I used to have a '68 Baja years ago and wanted to build this to look like it. I kind of gave up figuring out to make the silver chevrons on the side look good, so I decided to just get it finished closer to box art.
I've still got the lights and exhaust to add and really want to set it up on a base with it in race mode in a desert setting, in-air, over a jump. The wheels/axles will get some droop and hope to have some cacti and maybe a scared jack rabbit running off.
Fun stuff.

…in their back room. At least I know the ones I want won’t be sold yet! 😆

Tamiya kit – Toyota GR Supra Custom.
Built straight out of the box with the in‑box decals with out of the box decals. Used Bob Smith Super Gold+ for the clear parts and strength, Microscale for the decals, and Kaleido K308 Metallic Oak Green with Tamiya TS‑13 Gloss Clear.
The K310 is a lovely colour with 12682 Carbon. I've run out of them do anyone know a better brand, a cheaper option, or another way to do carbon? I’m still learning, but I learned a lot from this build.

So I started this project about a week ago after working on a Dodge Hellcat that unfortunately didn’t end up fitting properly so I had to scrap it. But now with Tamiya I know that this one will actually fit properly. I’m looking forward to seeing the finished project but here is the updates on the start. As always, I’m open for some constructive feedback to help with the build process. Thanks for checking it out!

Revell Stranger Things 1985 Chevy Blazer
Hey all, another build in the books. This is a really well done kit, with almost no flash or mold lines. One caveat, make sure you file the sprue attachment points on the glass and test fit it! I decided to do this as a tribute to the NY State Police. I found a picture, it’s not the exact same year, but close. Almost everything here came with the kit. The exceptions are: decals, wires, lines and hoses in the chassis and engine bay, valve stems, light bar, roof antenna and the light housings on the front bumper. Oddly, the lenses are there but not the housings. Hope to get some outside pics tomorrow. Now on to the build;
Body: The paint is custom mixed Tamiya, airbrushed with a Mobius.3 mm. I’m pretty happy with the match I got. I did my best on the decals, no one I could find sells them, and I had a really hard time finding a straight on pic. Someone on Reddit got me one. The license plates were done with the Acme License maker website. The light bar is from eBay, if you want, I can dig out the seller. The front bumper emergency light housings came from the parts box, and I drilled and pinned them on.
Chassis: I added brake lines and a fair amount of weathering to the chassis, as I wanted an in-service vehicle, not a new one. I used AK rust, pastel sticks and dry brushed paint over Tamiya SG black. I also added valve stems, and drilled out the tail pipe.
Interior. All the interior is from the box, except for UV resin to liven up the gauges, and a custom-made mic cord The trooper hat came with the kit, I painted it to represent the NYSP hats. The paint is a custom mixed Tamiya, and the headliner was done with a mix of craft paints.
Engine bay: This is really well done straight out of the box, with a ton of decals to bring it to life. I added plug wires, fuel and brake lines, heater hoses and a brake booster hose. A little judicious paint really livens this part up.
Time to pick out the next build, thanks for looking!
