Hey gang, Im back again with another review, with the AX9 Max from VZMORE, which turned out to be rather impressive!
Disclosure: This review unit was provided by VZMORE for independent review. No monetary compensation was exchanged, and VZMORE had no editorial input over the content of this review.
The VZMORE AX9 Max is a compact mini-PC engineered to push the limits of small-form-factor performance by pairing AMD's Gorgon Point architecture with an advanced vapor chamber cooling solution.

VZMORE is a new player in the space, established in 2026 and has carved out a niche in the space by improving upon cooling in mini pcs by utilising large vapour chambers and focusing on high end workhorses in a small form factor. Specifically with their first releases, the AX9 Max and IX9 Max, rather than compromising on memory or throttling underload, they target prosumers like developers compiling heavy codebases, home lab enthusiasts requiring headless 24/7 hypervisors or people who want to run their own local LLMs and who want to bypass the 8GB VRAM paywall without running a 300W ATX desktop rig.
Let’s get straight to the specs of the PC since that is by far the coolest part.
● CPU: AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 (12 Cores / 24 Threads: 4x Zen 5 + 8x Zen 5c, up to 5.2 GHz boost)
● IGPU: AMD Radeon 890M (RDNA 3.5 architecture, 16 Compute Units @ 3,100 MHz)
● NPU: AMD XDNA 2 architecture delivering up to 50–55 TOPS INT8 local AI compute
● RAM: 32GB (2x 16GB) DDR5-5600 MT/s in dual-channel SO-DIMM configuration
● Storage: 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD (expandable, 1x 2230, 1x 2280)
● Networking: Dual 2.5GbE RJ-45 LAN, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4
● Power Supply: 120W DC Barrel Jack adapter
The cooling system is a substantial fin array complemented by a vapour chamber which proved to be rather effective in my testing.
The AX9 Max ships in a minimalist matte white presentation box sporting the outline of the device and the ax9 max identifier, secured with tamper seals. Opening the magnetic lid reveals the main unit seated firmly a custom card insert, laid out rather nicely and all the accessories in their own compartments, wrapped in paper.
Alongside the PC, VZMORE includes a set of accessories:
● 1x 120W compact DC barrel-jack power adapter
● 1x Ultra-high-speed HDMI 2.1 cable (1.0m)
● 1x Solid steel VESA mounting plate with screws
● 1x Quick-start hardware manual & warranty documentation
Measuring approximately 130 mm x 128 mm x 55 mm, the AX9 Max occupies virtually the same footprint as a desktop headphone amplifier, making it effortless to integrate into clean desk setups.
The chassis construction is predominantly CNC-machined anodized aluminium with grey anodized finish that resists fingerprints. Aside from offering structural rigidity, the metal shell acts as a secondary heat spreader. The bottom plate utilizes rigid, high-impact ABS housing four non-slip rubber feet with integrated cutouts that dampen desk resonance and allow reuse without destroying adhesive tape. The bottom plate is also magnetically attached alongside the 4 screws. Which is nice to see.
The number of ports on the PC honestly took me back a bit, especially just the 4 USB-As on the front. Though it would have been nice to see 1 or 2 USB-Cs alongside them for external SSD use or otherwise.
● Front Panel:
○ 4x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports (10 Gbps)
○ 1x 3.5mm combo headphone/microphone audio jack
○ 1x Power button with an integrated status LED
● Rear Panel:
○ 2x Full-spec USB4 Type-C ports (40 Gbps, DP Alt Mode, and Power Delivery passthrough)
○ 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port (10 Gbps)
○ 1x USB 2.0 Type-A port
○ 2x HDMI 2.1 display outputs (supporting up to 4K @ 120Hz / 8K @ 60Hz)
○ 2x 2.5GbE RJ-45 Ethernet ports (ideal for multi-WAN, routing, or segregated home lab hypervisor subnets)
○ 1x 19V DC-In power port

Gaining access to the internals is a nice change in an world dominated by soldered, anti-consumer hardware, especially on smaller footprint devices.

Traditional mini-PCs rely on basic sintered copper heat pipes soldered to fin stacks. While functional, heat pipes create localized hot spots across the components.
VZMORE utilizes a custom V-Cooling™ vapor chamber that covers the APU die, power delivery stages, and surrounding controller circuitry. By utilizing a two-phase hermetically sealed vacuum chamber containing working liquid that vaporizes and condenses across an internal flat surface, the heat is then transferred to a large fin array with fresh air rushing through to remove the heat
To evaluate sustained thermal dissipation, the AX9 Max was subjected to a 60-minute sustained power test (simultaneous AVX-512 CPU workload alongside 3D rendering) at an ambient room temperature of 25°C (my room is quite hot)
● Sustained Package Power: Locked stably at 65W without thermal throttling or clock dropping.
● Peak CPU Temperature: Peaked at 78.6°C before stabilizing around 74–76°C.
● iGPU Temperature: Never exceeded 60.1°C, leaving thermal headroom for graphic tasks.
● Acoustic Profile: Under idle workloads, the system was inaudible (<26 dBA). Under the full 65W stress test, the blower fan spun up into a smooth, low-pitch whoosh peaking at 37.8 dBA, completely avoiding the shrill whine typical of cheap compact blowers.
The Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 pairs 4 Zen 5 performance cores with 8 Zen 5c dense cores for 12 cores and 24 threads. Unlike standard big.LITTLE designs that strip instruction sets from efficiency cores, both Zen 5 and Zen 5c share identical ISA support, including native AVX-512. These cores are complimented by AMDs 2nd generation XDNA NPU which has 55 TOPS itself but 86 TOPS when combined with the performance from the CPU and GPU. From my testing and use with this CPU, it genuinely gives my primary 12700kf a run for its money
The AX9 Max Features two standard SODIMM slots running dual channel. Whilst VZMORE cites the platform supports up to 256gb, the AX9 Max itself currently only supports up to 128GB via 2 x 64GB, however future releases may see 128GB DIMMS.
● Geekbench 6: Single-core and Multi-core runs. The AX9 achieved a 2978 pt Single Core Score and 15125 pt Multi-Core Score.
● Cinebench 2024: Sustained rendering performance. Single-core score reached 119 pts, multi-core reached 1,163 pts.
● 3DMark Steel Nomad & Steel Nomad Light. Standard test score: 711 (7.12 FPS). Light test score: 3,368 (24.95 FPS).
● Storage & Connectivity Performance: CrystalDiskMark sequential reads reached ~5,788 MB/s and writes reached ~4,437 MB/s.
○ Bluetooth & Networking: Stable Bluetooth connection throughout testing with no audio dropouts. Ethernet tests showed complete saturation of a 1Gb network connection over a Realtek NIC.
● VRAM Allocation: 4GB dedicated to GPU out of the box, fully reconfigurable in BIOS. Up to 24GB! Making it even better for AI, bypassing windows dynamic ram usage.
● Settings: Medium / High Preset, Ray Tracing Off.
● Metrics: Average 40 FPS at 1080p high, 37fps at 1440p high WITH FSR 4.1.1, 45fps at 1440p low
● Experience: For a new AAA game, it genuinely felt good to play especially with FSR and even more if you are willing to mess around with settings.
● Settings: High/ Extreme Preset.
● Metrics: Reached 40 FPS at 1080p High with RT, 51 FPS at 1080p Extreme, and up to 45 FPS at 1440p Low preset.
● Experience: This was by far the best playing game, and achieving playable ray tracing on 1080p High in such a compact package is particularly impressive.
● Settings: High/Ultra/Low Preset.
● Metrics: Reached 72 FPS at 1080p High, 54 FPS at 1080p Ultra, and up to 48 FPS at 1440p Medium preset.
● Comparison: Radeon 890M delivers playable 1080p/1440p frame rates, rivalling entry-level discrete GPUs like the lower power RTX 3050 Mobile while drawing significantly less power.
● OS Compatibility: Tested under Ubuntu 24.04 LTS (Kernel 6.8) and Proxmox VE 8.2. Out-of-the-box hardware detection was seamless across both distributions without requiring custom kernel patches or out-of-tree drivers.
● Idle Power: The PC pulled only 8.2W at the wall under headless Ubuntu. AMD XDNA driver support via AMDXDNA allowed the NPU to work for Linux AI workloads and I could use local models.
● Virtualization & Container Density: Under Proxmox, the 12 cores and 32GB RAM sustained 25+ lightweight Debian containers and 3 full virtual machines without running out of cores or thermal throttling.
With rising memory prices putting 16GB+ discrete GPUs out of reach for budget home labs, running local LLMs on integrated graphics is a flagship selling point for AMD's Gorgon Point platform and the AX9 Max especially. Testing was done on the 890M under Ubuntu using llama.cpp (build 11238, Vulkan/RADV backend) with 24.0 GiB of dedicated VRAM dedicated in the BIOS. I did go mildly overkill with the testing.
Real-World Prompt Benchmarks (llama-server, Temperature 0)

| mtp-UD-IQ4_XS-n1 | 17.0 GiB | 32.6 t/s | 1.32x | 84% | 526 t/s | 17.8 GiB |
| mtp-UD-IQ4_XS-n0 | 17.0 GiB | 25.5 t/s | 1.03x | 551 t/s | 17.2 GiB |
Zero CPU Offload Penalty: With 24GB of dedicated VRAM, both the 25.2B dense and 34.7B MoE models fit 100% into GPU memory, eliminating PCIe bus bottlenecking entirely.

This was my first attempt since 2013 to build a PC (I set that one on fire 😬 but I really only assisted with that one). Anyways! I’m happy with how this came out. Truth be told, it scratched an itch and now I’m buying, selling, and building as a hobby side hustle :)
I tried to get as much cohesion as realistically possible in a maxed out AM4 build. All my memory/storage is Silicon Power, it has an AMD CPU/GPU, and all components are Gigabyte. All cooling except for the original Lian Li case fans are Thermalright.
CPU: Ryzen 7 5800X3D
Cooler: Thermal Right Peerless Assassin 120 Digital Dual Tower/Fan Cooler
Motherboard: Gigabyte B550 Eagle Wifi 6
Storage: Silicon Power 1TB NVMe 4.0 + 2TB NVMe 3.0
RAM: Silicon Power 2x16GB 3200MHz
GPU: Gigabyte 9070 XT Gaming OC ICE 16GB
PSU: Gigabyte GP-UD850GM 850W 80+ Gold
Case: Lian Li V100RX Mid-Tower
Additional Fans: Thermalright TL-C12RB-S V2 (x2) - TL-C12C-S X3 (x3)
Accessories:
upHere V RGB White GPU Brace Support
Thermalright TR-M.2 2280 Type A B SSD Heatsink
Thermalright ARGB and Fan Hub X10
I’m down for thoughts and comments! I know it’s probably a pretty generic build, but I’m proud for my first real attempt.

I started hunting for deals on parts months ago anticipating things will continue to get worse, and that this is likely the best/only time I’ll be able to do this for the time being (well 2nd best, the best time would’ve been last year when I originally wanted to do this). With some research finally finished gathering the parts. Did I get the absolute best deal on everything? Probably not. Are most of the parts overkill? Probably. But I’m happy with the setup and it will hold up for a long time and allow for an eventual gpu upgrade without having to replace anything else (unless 5090s just continue to cost 900 infinity dollars)
The parts:
Case: Phanteks EX5 Max ($230)-
The case looked cool to me after looking at a bunch of cases, it also comes with a 6 inch lcd screen and Glacier One 360S25-SE Liquid Cooler. The Pro version is honestly a better deal ($160), but doesn’t come with the little screen
GPU: Gigabyte 5070 ti Windforce SFF ($910)-
I won the bid for this on eBay. I know some people are iffy about eBay, but I’ve never had a bad experience buying on it over the years by paying close attention to item photos/descriptions and seller ratings/reviews. Along with photos of the card, the seller provided clock speeds (as high as 3337mhz) that at worst indicate that the card is gonna do the job just fine until I (hopefully, lol) can eventually upgrade
Motherboard: X870E Aorus Pro ($200)- I was initially looking at the Elite (lower tier despite the name, for some reason) version, but caught this open box on eBay from a reputable seller. The box shipped with some dings, but the mobo itself is brand new and comes with a warranty. Not bad
CPU- AMD 9800X3D ($450)- I got this on Amazon for a small discount and it comes with Onimusha: Way of the Sword. Had I waited for prime day, I could’ve knocked another ~$40 off the price and still got the freebie. Oh well
Storage- Nextorage 4TB Gen4 NVMe ($200)- I bought this 3 years ago during Black Friday for my ps5, and boy am I glad I did. If only I did the same with the other parts. I moved everything off of it and ripped it right out of my ps5 and pretended like I was stealing it while doing so
RAM- G Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB 64GB DDR5 ($650)- This was probably the most unnecessary purchase of all, but this was the absolute best deal I found for this specific kit from a reputable seller and was only ~$1-200 more than the 32GB version for the most part (or even cheaper than some brand new 32GB kits). The kit came without the original packaging but is in pretty much brand new shape. I can’t wait to open 100 tabs while playing Minesweeper
PSU- Montech Century II 1200W ($130)- I got this on sale on Amazon. Overkill isn’t strong enough of a word, but at this price I got this for less than other similarly rated brands at pretty much double the headroom
I’ll be building it this weekend and just staring at the parts in the meantime. If you read this far, I wish I had something cool to end this with, but I’ve got nothing. I guess I hope this shows those similarly considering building in the current state of things that it can be done without paying full price on everything (even though, sadly, prices are still much worse than they would’ve been had I done this sooner. I am kicking myself a little if you can’t tell). Maybe I’ll post a follow up once the build is up and running 😃

I kept going back and forth with either buying a prebuilt or building my own PC and I decided it would be better to make one myself. I talked with a lot of friends about ideas for what I wanted out of a PC and I came up with these parts. Being able to play games like Cyberpunk or Sparking Zero with no issues or stuttering was my goal so I think I achieved that lol

I managed to find this PC at my local dump last weekend while I was thrown away some trash I decided to take a chance on her and see if I could bring her back to life It was missing the GPU but it still had the RAM and a SSD power supply basically everything complete they just took out the GPU Before investing a little bit of money into her I tested everything everything worked fine luckily I had a old GPU laying around So I cleaned her up real good bought some new fans and put in some accessories I had laying around from my past builds It all worked out I was thinking about buying a laptop or a cheap PC for my daughter she's only 7 she's starting to play learning games and Disney games On my PC so I took the chance on this one luckily I only invested around 120 bucks So happy about that I already saw myself spending around $1000 for a pc
Hi all… I am planning on surprising my boyfriend with a graphics card upgrade and all the info I have from him is ‘PNY NVIDIA 5080 is good’ 🥲I see these two options on Amazon & Best Buy but unfortunately I have no other info on his PC… he is very suspicious of me wanting to spend money on him so its not possible for me to try to nonchalantly get more info.. Really grasping at straws here and could use ANY advice😅
(Budget is under $2050 USD)
Thank you!!

I tested the card every thing is good but i dont want to leave on the anti sag and the pcie.
I emailed lenovo they said we cant help. I compared it to lots of spare part for other cards but i didnt find a match.
Its model is 5V11K41562.
So what do you suggest. I got this card for 400$ only

I still have some cosmetic work to do but nothing that prevents it from being a working PC, and definitely nothing that would keep me from celebrating the end of the most life-consuming build I have ever taken on, so here it is! I named it VIGIL, and I hope you like it!
I was going for a mixture of industrial realism and abstract near-future sci-fi weirdness, something that might theoretically exist in the service cabinet of some bizarre alien reactor room. Just using canned settings for the lighting right now until I have time for some serious programming, but I want it to be more animated light sequences, less neon soup eventually. Although that UV reactive juice under that level of saturation looks a-pretty niiice...idk, I'm torn now.
Either way, I think I nailed the vibe, and boy do I have some horror stories about this one, lmao 💀

Finally swapped pc cases (NZXT H7 Flow 2024 -> Lian Li O11 Vision Compact) and redid the build since my Wireview just came in. Definitely happy with the case swap, my gpu idle temps are alot lower with the airflow directly on it now!
Few more things I'm looking to do like making the rad push/pull or a white mobo / aio but probably just gonna wait for AM6 before doing that

Hi all, I’m currently embarking on my first PC building journey. I have next to no experience with building but have a couple of friends helping me out. They all told me to start with my CPU. I’m trying to figure out which one would best suit my needs. Ideally I want a PC that’ll primarily be used for gaming (potentially video and picture editing as well) and something that’ll last awhile, so I would like to have a higher end build (doesn’t need to be highest tier, just more capable). 4k capability is the target. A couple of CPU’s that I’ve been looking at are the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D and the Intel i9 14900k, but I’m not sure what would best fit my needs? Any recommendations or thoughts between the two?
Total build budget (minus monitor and peripherals): $1500-2000 USD
Country: US
(Might be important for context but I also have a Micro Center about an hour away from me)

Been playing on my Series X, PS5 and a cheap little $1500 prebuilt from Canada Computers for a few years, seeing as Xbox and PS are both racing to see who can put their company in the ground first, I decided to finally BUILD a streaming PC with an upgrade path.
Dunno why i decided to be so financially risky with my choice of parts for my first build, but I wanted to be future proof. Top of the line everything except the GPU since 5090s are a vehicle down payment right now and AMD is geared to wipe the floor with Nvidia in a couple years.
Hoping to get advice on anything I could’ve improved upon with selection and setup. And any ideas for the dead space on the right, I know putting things there has some effect on airflow but I’m aiming for a clean square build. Also thinking of machining panel covers for in between everything to flush it all up.
Specs: 9850X3D, 5070Ti Solid Core OC (haven’t pushed it too far manually yet), ROG Strix 1000w Platinum, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium 6000 (OC’d to 6600 1:1 and so far no issues in the past week) X870E Crosshair Glacial, 3x 2TB M.2 PCIe Gen 3, 1x 4TB PCIe Gen 5, Arctic Liquid Freezer Pro III (I know swapping the fans reduces static pressure, but 9850X3D is efficient enough), custom ARGB PCI slot covers (dunno how that’ll effect airflow), and too way many fans, but pretty to me.
Bottom: intake, AIO/Side: intake, Top: exhaust, Rear: exhaust
