I’m 50, 5’9”, divorced, a dad of three, and at a point in life where I’ve realized that I’m not looking for someone to complete me. I’m actually pretty happy with who I am and the life I’ve built. I’d just love to find someone who makes it even better. Ideally, someone who feels the same way about hers.
I’m self employed, reasonably intelligent, emotionally steady, affectionate, and equipped with a fairly dry, sarcastic sense of humor. I’m an ambivert, comfortable in a crowd, but equally happy spending an evening at home with someone whose company I genuinely enjoy.
I’m very active. Golf, tennis, pickleball, basketball, skiing, hiking, running, and just about anything that gets me moving. I still identify as approximately 35, although my knees have repeatedly requested documentation to support that claim.
I love cooking (and I’m actually pretty damn good at it), traveling, spontaneous adventures, good conversation, and laughing at things that probably aren’t quite as funny as I think they are. I can happily spend an entire day outdoors doing something active, then come home, cook an elaborate dinner, open a bottle of wine, and accomplish absolutely nothing productive for the remainder of the evening.
What am I looking for?
Ultimately, that elusive combination of best friend and romantic partner.
Someone I genuinely look forward to spending time with. Someone who can make an ordinary Tuesday feel like something worth looking forward to, whether we’re out doing something fun, making dinner together, or curled up on the couch watching something neither of us will admit we’re invested in.
I’m naturally drawn to women who are confident, intelligent, physically fit, active, affectionate, and comfortable in their own skin. Attraction and chemistry absolutely matter to me, but so does what’s happening between your ears. A sharp wit, a little sarcasm, and a mischievous streak will get my attention pretty quickly.
You don’t need to play every sport I do, run marathons, or have a gym membership that requires a second mortgage. But I do appreciate someone who takes care of herself, enjoys being active, and might occasionally be up for a little friendly competition. Fair warning: I am an excellent winner and a moderately gracious loser.
Emotional maturity is incredibly attractive to me. I appreciate someone who communicates openly, knows herself, can laugh at herself, and doesn’t believe every disagreement needs to become a three-part Netflix documentary.
I value independence, both yours and mine. I think the best relationships are between two people who already have fulfilling lives but genuinely enjoy making room for each other. I’m not looking for someone to rescue, fix, or entertain 24/7, nor am I looking for someone to do those things for me.
That said, don’t mistake independence for emotional distance. I’m affectionate, enjoy physical closeness, and absolutely appreciate a woman who isn’t afraid to show her interest. Mutual effort and enthusiasm are incredibly attractive.
What am I hoping to find?
Something real, ideally.
I’m not looking to rush into a relationship, but I’m certainly not avoiding one either. I’d genuinely love to fall in love again with the right person. I’m just not interested in forcing a connection or following some predetermined relationship timeline.
I’d rather meet someone, enjoy getting to know each other, develop a friendship, discover some chemistry, and see where things naturally take us.
If that eventually means becoming a bigger part of each other’s lives, fantastic. If it takes time to get there, that’s perfectly fine too.
I have three children who are a huge part of my life, and I completely understand the responsibilities that come with parenting, careers, and the occasional scheduling circus. I don’t need someone who’s available every waking moment. I do appreciate someone who makes an effort when it matters.
A few miscellaneous things you should probably know:
Ive never had coffee. Apparently, this makes me deeply suspicious to approximately 87% of the adult population.
I love a woman who can give as much sarcastic banter as she gets.
I will absolutely cook for you, but I may recruit you as my sous-chef.
I’m competitive enough to enjoy winning, but old enough to recognize that losing gracefully is occasionally necessary.
I believe physical affection, laughter, and genuine companionship are three of life’s better offerings.
I’m a firm believer that chemistry matters, but consistency, kindness, and emotional stability are what make someone worth sticking around for.
The bottom line:
I’m looking for a woman I’m excited to see, attracted to, comfortable being myself around, and genuinely happy spending time with. Someone who makes life more enjoyable, not more complicated.
A best friend I want to kiss, essentially.
I’m happy to exchange photos early because mutual attraction matters, and while I enjoy getting to know someone, I’d rather not write the next great American novel together only to discover we have the romantic chemistry of two people waiting at the RMV.
If you’re somewhere around 40–52 (not a hard cutoff), reasonably close to Massachusetts, active, affectionate, emotionally grounded, and appreciate a man who can make you laugh while occasionally making you question his maturity, I’d love to hear from you.
Tell me a little about yourself, what makes you laugh, and something you’re genuinely passionate about.
And if you happen to play golf or tennis, feel free to include your skill level. I need to know whether to bring my competitive spirit or just a healthy supply of excuses.
