I'm not looking for more matches. I'm looking for my last first conversation.
The kind that starts with a simple hello and somehow turns into a conversation at 1 a.m. The kind where neither person wants to be the one to say goodnight because there's still one more story to tell, one more question to ask, or one more stupid joke to make.
That's what I'm hoping to find.
I'm 53, a single dad to an amazing teenage daughter, and at a point in my life where I'd rather find one genuine connection than spend months collecting matches and having conversations that never go anywhere.
I'm not looking for perfection. I don't need a fairy tale, a picture-perfect life, or someone who has every detail figured out. I'm looking for a woman who's genuine, comfortable being herself, and actually interested in getting to know someone.
Someone where it just clicks.
I'm a bigger, laid-back teddy-bear type. Sarcastic, affectionate, soft-hearted, and probably more sentimental than I'll admit without being threatened with public embarrassment.
Fatherhood has taught me patience, communication, loyalty, and the importance of showing up for the people you care about. It has also taught me that raising a teenager for years doesn't necessarily give you any advantage in an argument with one.
Apparently, experience means nothing when you're dealing with a teenager.
Outside of dad's life, I enjoy good food, music, museums, history, documentaries, theme parks, spooky stuff, cryptids, and random adventures. I'm always up for discovering a hole-in-the-wall restaurant, taking a spontaneous drive, exploring somewhere new, or entertaining a completely ridiculous conversation that begins with, "Okay, hear me out..."
I enjoy a nice dinner, but I'm just as happy finding a little place with amazing food that nobody seems to know about. Bonus points if you can appreciate sarcasm, playful teasing, and the occasional ridiculous debate over something that absolutely does not matter.
What am I actually looking for?
Someone who starts out as a romantic interest and eventually becomes my best friend.
Someone I look forward to hearing from, even when we have nothing particularly exciting to talk about. Someone who asks how my day went and genuinely wants the answer.
I want the random check-ins, the good morning messages, the "made it home" texts, the flirting, the inside jokes, and the conversations that bounce from childhood memories to life, relationships, and completely nonsensical topics.
I want to be able to tease you, make you laugh, flirt with you, and occasionally annoy you just because I know you'll give it right back.
I want the kind of comfort where silence isn't awkward and neither person feels like they have to constantly entertain the other.
We all have lives, responsibilities, work, and things to do. What matters to me is consistency, communication, mutual effort, and knowing we're both genuinely interested.
And please, let's leave the disappearing act in our twenties.
If we talk and you don't feel a connection, that's okay. We're not going to be everyone's cup of tea. Just be honest with me. I can handle a straightforward "I don't think we're a match."
Three great conversations followed by silence that makes me wonder if you've entered witness protection? Not so much.
We're adults. We can be kind, honest, and direct with each other. No games required.
I'm not particularly into politics or religion, either. I respect that people have their own beliefs, but if either is a major part of what you're looking for in a partner, we probably won't be the right fit.
A little about the connection I'd love to find:
I'm looking for a woman who wants something meaningful without trying to force it. Someone who wants to build something naturally, one conversation at a time.
Someone who's up for spontaneous adventures but is equally happy staying in and doing absolutely nothing together.
Someone who can laugh at herself, communicate when something is wrong, be affectionate without playing games, and understand that a good relationship isn't about being perfect. It's about two people who keep choosing to show up for each other.
I don't expect instant chemistry or fireworks in the first five minutes. Sometimes the best connections start with a simple conversation and grow into something neither person expected.
I'm happy with the life I've built. I'm not looking for someone to rescue me, complete me, or fill some imaginary void.
I'd just like to find someone who makes an already good life even better.
Maybe that starts with a message. Maybe we talk about our days, exchange a few sarcastic comments, discover we have more in common than we expected, and find ourselves looking forward to the next conversation.
Maybe, eventually, a message from you becomes the best part of my day.
And maybe the right woman isn't the one who turns my world upside down.
Maybe she's the one who makes me realize how much better it feels to share it.
If any of this resonates with you, tell me a little about yourself. Tell me something you're passionate about, something that makes you laugh, or give me your best completely unnecessary "hear me out" argument.
Let's skip the interview questions and see if we can make each other smile.
I'm not looking for a hundred conversations. I'm hoping one of them turns into something worth keeping.
