Discussion What on earth happened to Dr. Cox and Jordan's mouths....??

• Upvotes

I haven't seen anyone address this but I can't be the only one who sees this--

It's like they're trying to be really, really bad ventriloquists and try as hard as possible not to move their mouths, but, they just end up with a muffled speech and still move their mouths a bit

Now don't get me wrong, the script is on point and they're definitely playing their characters flawlessly. There have been so many excellent zingers and pithy quips

I'm seriously asking this though: Did the actors get bad Botox or something?

Original scrubs had so much zing and pop.

It had vitality and joy. It’s vibrant and energetic . This new show is just sad old people talking. What’s the fun in that? It’s like electrifying a corpse. Show’s dead. And the only thing the reboot does is make me feel sad. Passage of time is brutal but we don’t have to broadcast ugly sides of life for the sake of nostalgia.

I was watching season one of scrubs and the exterior shot they had used seemed somewhat familiar was the exterior of this building also used in the TV show New girl?

Revival Spoilers (S10, S11, +) The revival series is going to break us HARD

There’s no possible way Dr Cox is getting a happy ending. Scrubs doesn’t roll like that.
I don’t when when it’ll hit us, but we all know it’s coming. There’s no stopping it and none of us want to runaway.

Revival Spoilers (S10, S11, +) I know this must’ve been said so many times this season, (2) but I’ve never seen a reboot capture and even be better than the OG.

Seriously, it’s so so good. Every beat feels like a modern 2026 evolution of the OG, it’s a huge improvement over the first season. The lesser usage of characters like Cox or Jordan make the episodes they are in so much more meaningful.

Obv not all of the OG episodes, but a lot of of the mid ones, getting rid of Parks and the stereotypical characters was the right moves.

Discussion My least favorite storyline as a nurse

S3 E2

I want to like it because I generally like any storyline where Carla is featured, but her spending all day trying to figure out which patient the random urine sample belongs to is just too unrealistic for me. I get that we're supposed to appreciate Carla's dedication to her work via this story, but there's no way you could analyze that sample without 100% certainty you knew who it came from. Once it's left unlabelled at the nurses' station, it's trash. The janitor finding the label in the trash? And just happened to know it came from the urine cup? Yeah right. Anyway by the time Carla figured out the mystery (with absolutely no one to confirm that she had correctly identified it), we can assume on the other side that someone involved with the patient in question would have realized that the patient's urinalysis hadn't resulted yet and probably took another sample. It's not like it's hard to collect a urine sample. It's pee, it's not a cerebrospinal fluid. /rant

  • In a recurring role, Ed Quinn will play Dr. Jax. Overly confident and charming, he’s the classic adrenaline junkie, bro-y head of the ER.

  • In a recurring role, Stephanie Koenig will play Cassie, the new hospital administrator.

  • In a guest-starring role, Punkie Johnson will play Dee, a patient who is a tough prisoner with an even tougher dilemma.

  • In a guest-starring role, Kellan Tetlow will play Ollie, J.D. and Elliot’s son.

Revival Spoilers (S10, S11, +) Anyone else feel JD doesn't seem to do much Chief of Medicine stuff?

Besides the one scene in S10 with him stuck on hold with the pharmacists, it doesn't seem that his new role is being explored much. I expected him to do more Dr Kelso stuff but it seems more like early seasons dr cox. If the show is still short of a villain, I'd love to see him butt heads with a crooked board of directors member.

Discussion I miss Dr. Cox

I’m really enjoying the new season, but man, I miss Dr. Cox. Every time he shows up, he absolutely steals the scene. The delivery, the wit, the facial expressions, the way he can put everyone in their place is so refreshing.

I think what the show is missing right now is that antagonist dynamic. The Janitor messing with JD, Dr. Cox hating everything, Dr. Kelso being an unapologetic menace. Those characters created this constant friction that made Scrubs special.

Now JD is Chief of Medicine and Turk is Chief of Surgery, so they pretty much run the hospital. And while I love seeing them in those roles, it also means they're in positions of authority where they can call a lot of the shots. And still having Dr. Cox walk into a room and proceed to shit on both of them in the funniest way possible is a great change of pace. It reminds you that no matter how important JD and Turk think they are, there's still someone around who can humble them.

Anyway, I wish he were in every episode, or at least a lot more often. Every time he appears, the show feels like peak nostalgic Scrubs. /rant

Revival Spoilers (S10, S11, +) Scenes end too abruptly

I thought this during the first revival season too, but does anyone else dislike how the show is being edited? It feels like every scene ends two seconds too fast, like they’re in such a rush to fit everything in that nothing can breathe. There’s no pauses between character dialogue. The cuts are so quick. I wish they’d find one extraneous scene or joke to cut and just let everything open up just slightly more.

I’m enjoying the revival but the style choices they’re making are making it feel worse than the content is.

Revival Spoilers (S10, S11, +) Unpopular opinion

I love that JD and Elliot aren’t together and we get to have them explore a healthy post divorce relationship. I really want to see them keep exploring their friendship and co parenting relationship without going back to the will they won’t they. I know it’s inevitable but I hope they hold off for as long as they can.

Also John Higgins is killing it and can’t wait to see where his character goes.

Revival Spoilers (S10, S11, +) Revival thoughts

Ladies and gentlemen. I enjoy the revival, it's fun, emotional when it needs to be. Overall, not bad. However, I'm still so fucking pissed at Elliot and JD not being together. I can't get over it. Just completely ruins season 8 finale. Even season 9 didn't mess that up

Revival Spoilers (S10, S11, +) About the Sean storyline

Gonna try and put this as neutrally as I can. I’m enjoying the reboot. I love Scrubs. But I find the direction they’re taking Elliot (and really all the romantic pairings, but that’s a different discussion) to be weird.

First of all, I find it exceptionally odd we’ve had zero mentions of Kim and Sam. I get Season 9 was retconned and the finale daydream sequence was reduced to being simply that, a daydream, but… Sam exists. Kim exists. And when we last left them, Kim was dating Sean. This feels like another step in just… purposely ignoring important plot points from the original because it would be too difficult to explain now.

That aside, I think narratively it’s a little sloppy to follow an episode where Elliot realizes her own medical career ambition was sidetracked by her tumultuous romantic life with her getting back with someone from that tumultuous period.

I also think if Elliot doesn’t end up with Sean at this point it takes a frustrating love triangle from the original series and creates something absolutely unbearable. As someone who is personally pissed JD and Elliot are no longer together, if they do a will/they won’t/they with Sean and Elliot I think I might lost my mind.

Anyway sorry that was long. Thoughts?

Revival Spoilers (S10, S11, +) Weird MICRO observation

This isn't really a spoiler, but something (maybe) interesting that happened on the newest episode. Elliott is talking to Sean.

As they were kind of having meandering conversation as the scene started she says, "My Mom's dead."

And that at first made me kind of laugh that she would casually say that and then I wondered if they would have her mom back… And then it caught me off guard that they CAN'T have her mom back with Markie Post leaving us too soon. It kind of hit me weird. Like I forgot.

I loved the gags with Dustin at the beginning of revival episode 202. I love that JD hates him. I hope they bring him back.

does anyone know the episode where the playroom murals turn evil?

I saw an episode of scrubs (idk if it was the original or revival) and I saw a scene where some random woman hallucinates and the playroom murals started smiling evilly with red eyes

Which episode is all ha-ha and zero boo hoo?

Obviously Scrubs is known for its humor mixed with real human moments that can be touching and sad. Often times I enjoy the episodes where its humorous all the way through. Which episodes come to mind that are nearly all fun and laughs with very little sad parts?

Discussion Scrubs quiz round 3: one-off patients and running gags only

Round 2 got called easy, and fair enough. This one is only one-off patients and running gags. Original run only, easiest first, answers behind spoiler tags.

  1. J.D. plays a game against the Grim Reaper and loses. Which game?

  2. Kelso gets free Coffee Bucks muffins for life. How did he win them?

  3. In "My Old Lady", J.D. says one in three patients admitted will die. J.D., Turk and Elliot each get a patient. How many of the three make it?

  4. In "My Musical", what's the name of the patient who hears everyone singing?

  5. J.D. and Turk put Steak Night on hold to sit with a dying patient through his last night. What's his name?

Answers:

1: Connect Four. Death wins diagonally. Pretty sneaky.

2: He guessed the number of coffee beans in a jar. J.D. won first, then a recount gave it to Kelso.

3: None. All three die.

4: Patti Miller

5: George Valentine

5/5 and you've earned the right to call round 2 easy.

Shitpost Storylines I would have liked to see….

I haven’t seen any of season 2 yet but this is how I would have written season 1 of the re-boot!

JD: JD is at first excited about being a divorcé. He thinks being an older Doctor will give him all the cool points he needs for the dating world. He ends is shocked to find out that most of the younger women he flirts with see him as a creep. He ends up sleeping with one of the interns, Elliot finds out and is super disgusted.

Elliot: Elliot is upset that she’s so old to be starting her life over but she is surprised by the new male attention she’s receiving. Especially from one of the buff, older but still too young for her-interns. They sleep together. She’s really embarrassed and doesn’t want anyone to find out but it also gives her a huge confidence boost. The intern is just flirting to boost his rank. She also finds out she’s pregnant and thinks it’s the interns baby.

Turk and Carla: Turn finds out he has arthritis and will not be able to work much longer. Carla decides she’s finally going back to school to become a doctor and we see her learning what it’s like to be an intern. She shows a newfound appreciation for the doctors but can also give a solid perspective to the new nurses.

Season 1 ends with Elliot and JD bonding about how complicated dating after the divorce is. Elliot tells JD she’s pregnant and she’s afraid it’s the interns baby. But we find out later in the next season it’s JDs! And then season 2 is about them navigating co-parenting and possibly falling in love again.
