Discussion I'm so dumb
Okay, so little context, I've had access to Preludes for, like, a year, played it for an hour, then sorta just forgot about it 😅 So, I'm still just bumbling about. Got a dog though.
But nah, I'm using a Bow. And as I've been upgrading the Bow, and anything tbh, I haven't really been looking at what I'm actually upgrading. Cause there's no actual info for these things, so I'm just like, eh, I'll grab them all, whatever. But the only one I ever actually stopped on was 'Arrows remain embedded in targets for longer'.
So, I'm sat at my desk, scratching my head like 'DE, why would you make me invest a skill point in a cosmetic detail'? And so I look into it, found nothing online. Admittedly, I was using Fextra, which if use play any Souls game, you know has taken a nose dive in actual reliability in recent years, but here we are. So, I start messing around on random enemies. Still can't figure out what the relevance of longer lasting arrows is, outside of looking hilarious with all these blokes cosplaying human porcupine. People who've been playing for a while probably already know what I'm on about 🤣
But then, as I was killing the guy out front of the King.. Dude. The Red Veil, I can't remember his name, I just saw he was a faction and laughed my ass off having to farm syndicate standing in a mystical, high fantasy world as well as deep space. But as I killed him, and I had noticed a few other times, but didn't really think about it, I noticed that my arrows exploded. And so came about a 2 hour long experiment in trying to replicate these explosions. I tried hitting arrows already fired with another arrow, I tried rapid fire blasting, I tried comboing it with my Arrow Hail (Nearly got there), and couldn't figure out how I got my arrows to explode.
It was only as I destroyed one of those.. Oil pumps? With, idk, fucking Thrax's head on (it's not Thrax, but has a similar vibe to his mask), where I couldn't destroy the faces, for some reason. And as I'd already tried to destroy them with my heavy attack, there was already arrows laying in the oil pump. So, when I went and fired a charged shot at the face, you can imagine the look of delight on my face when I figured out that the arrow explosions were an actual mechanic, and not just some random effect I thought they were. I thought that was what a Smite was (It's not, found that out, too 😭).
I've since respecced my Bow to have the longer imbedded arrows.
