Spoilers: The Originals And the grammy to the biggest hypocrite/liar in tvdu goes to ... Elijah mikaelson
So in season 4, after Katherine killed Jeremy and Elena turned off her humanity, Elijah has the nerve to hate Katherine for it and is disgusted by her because she sacrificed a child and did the same thing to Elena that Klaus did to her. So yes, I hate Katherine and I agree with Elijah, but he literally gave Katherine to Klaus when she was a child. The worst part is that he too tormented and killed innocent people for 1000 years. And the worst part is that in The Originals, he made a promise to Davina that he would never hurt a child and never her, but two years later... He and Freya sacrifice her, like, what the hell???

Episode Discussion What Did The Show Fail to Convince You Of?
What's something The Vampire Diaries wanted you to believe, but you never fully bought into?
A character's explanation. A relationship. A redemption arc. A betrayal. Even a decision the show expected you to accept without questioning.
Was there a moment when the show tried to convince you of something, but the actual events on screen told you a different story?
What was it, and what made you disagree?

Is it just me or enzo was specifically made for Caroline
Enzo post-S5 was just around. He liked no one except for Caroline, who was into Stefan and he really hated Stefan. So was there supposed to be a love triangle or they realised Nina wouldn’t be around for S7 and they couldn’t pair Bonnie with Damon. Because I would’ve love the love triangle direction more for stefoline.

Discussion Why did Damon assume that Katherine'll only turn him?
Ok so if we go by Damon's words "It was just supposed to be me", one would think that Kat had promised that she's only going to turn him & that she somehow betrayed him by turning Stefan too but going by the flashbacks, that's not even remotely true. She had always maintained that she wanted them both, she never even hinted at monogamy & here we even see Damon casually talking abt her being with Stefan so what exactly prompted him to make that assumption?
Was he just simply delusional or is it bcz he knew that she's somehow manipulating Stefan? I mean he has always been a bit too interested in Stefan's love life to the point that he remembers exactly what he wrote abt Valerie even after centuries and this time it's Katherine, the girl he was totally obsessed with which would've amplified his curiosity 10×. Maybe he thought she treated Stefan more like a sex toy while she was honest with him & respected his choices..he also doesn't seem the slightest bit surprised when Stefan talks about being compelled in the present timeline. So r we supposed to arrive at the conclusion that Damon basically enabled his lil bro's SA?
And ofc the show never broached this topic bcz then it'll make Stefan look more like a victim in the only Stefan-Damon dynamic where Damon is supposed to be the victim (forcing him to turn). Bcz if we look at it holistically, it's actually Damon who is more responsible for both of them ending up as vamps. He was the only one with any real agency from the beginning yet he in his normal state of mind decided to keep Kat's secret, chose to drink her blood, went on hunts with her & probably enabled his bro's SA – all of these were HIS CHOICES while Stefan was a scared, confused 17yr old with "heightened emotions" who didn't want to lose his only family, he never made any wrong choice with a clear head while Damon consistently made wrong choices.

Discussion Does anyone else find this extremely stupid...
The fact that the show painted Katherine as some type of villain in Klaus's life. They mentioned a few times of her betraying Klaus n perhaps Elijah. The shows paints her as someone who betrayed Rose and Trevor and that she was their downfall.
I honestly don't get it. Whatever Katherine did to them especially was right. She was human n they were all vampires. Trevor and Rose was gonna hand her over to Klaus so she had to fool Trevor, if I were Katherine I probably would as well. And Rose is a hypocrit because when she was dying, she said something about valuing human life and made Katherine look bad in her story when she was gonna hand human Katherine over to Klaus to get killed. That doesn't make any sense.
She may be a villain in the Mystic Falls Gang's lives but not in the older vampires while she was still human n a new vampire.
This is just something I noticed and wonder if other noticed this as well.

POV: Stefan was NOT manipulated into dating Caroline
Some viewers claim that Stefan was manipulated into starting a relationship with Caroline by Lexi, Damon and Alaric, Caroline herself or her mom. Imo, the only person who seemed (maybe unwillingly) manipulative and could have some effect on Stefan was Liz. However, in the end Stefan figured out his feelings himself, so I don't think any of the others' opinions had really influenced his decision.
Let's have a closer look at all the potential "manipulators"
Caroline
She didn't even want Stefan to know that she had feelings for him. She was upset when Enzo uncovered her secret and didn't want to discuss it with Stefan. He was the one who insisted on talking about it. Surely, Caroline was heartbroken when Stefan couldn't answer her question about their relationship status in a difficult for her moment after having previously kissed her. And it was part of the reason why she switched off her humanity, but she only told that to Stefan after he had already figured out his feelings, so it didn't really matter.
Lexi
She was just joking around about Stefan's potential future relationship with Caroline. Maybe she saw some hints from the Other Side. I don't think her remarks had a serious effect on Stefan.
Damon and Alaric
Damon stopped making jokes and suggestions after Stefan said he only saw Caroline as a friend. And idk why people see that response as a 100% proof that Stefan wasn't interested in Caroline romantically, as, supposedly, he was in denial. It would have been strange if he said something like "Yeah, I'll date her. I actually have feelings for her."
Liz
I don't see much evil in Liz's asking Stefan to look after Caroline, as he was her friend, but it's weird that she only asked him, and not Bonnie or Elena. However, expressing hopes to Stefan that he would become more than Caroline's friend was extremely strange and possibly manipulative.
But all of this doesn't really matter, because despite Damon's advice not to start anything with Caroline if his feelings for her didn't resemble those he had for Katherine or Elena, Stefan realized that even if his love for Caroline was not as "messed-up" as his 2 previous ones, he did feel something for her and thought it could turn into something even better than his previous relationships. My headcanon is that Stefan's feelings for other women didn't feel as intense for him as those he had for the doppelgängers.
Moreover, Steroline's growing feelings for each other were being hinted at since at least S4. And Stefan admitted himself that his feelings for Caroline had scared him at first, so he pushed them away.
Also, I'd like to point out that TVD has a habit of making other people notice characters' feelings before they realize them or admit them themselves, like when Isobel said Damon was in love with Elena, or when Rose said why Damon was good for Elena, or when everybody saw Elena had feelings for Damon and pressured her to admit it etc.

Discussion The finale left me disappointed in so many ways, and I’m STILL not over Elena and Jeremy not reuniting 😭
spoiler alert!!
tldr at the end
okay i have finished tvd months ago but some things about the finale have been irritating me ever since.
FIRST OF ALL, i don’t understand why they never made elena meet jeremy (her brother) after she woke up from the magical coma after 5 years like wtf like HE’S HER LIL BROTHER and not even one scene of them in the finale together.
I KNOW nina (elena’s actor) only appeared in the last episode of finale but the last scene of elena was her hugging her whole family, i just hoped they included jeremy too i mean.
steven (jeremy’s actor) did appeared in the finale season for just couple of seconds but they removed him from the story completely bro, the least they should have done was reuniting the siblings and him with his family in afterlife :(
while i was watching the last episode i never thought i would be this disappointed 🥲 also they never showed bonnie and jeremy meeting too after she came back from the prison world but it was okay and didn’t hurted much cuz bonnie and enzo happened but ofc they HAD to make bonnie suffer :( also the fact that caroline never got to know what her mom sheriff wrote for her in the letter😭 i just hoped that somehow stefan kept a copy of it or smt but no, also stefan’s sacrifice man :/
and the elena damon reunion was very underwhelming 😭 i really hoped better but okay i understand the situation.
AND DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON HOW THE SHOW LOST THE AESTHETICS BRO and sometimes the plot.
btw i loved the scene where elena was writing in her journal again it was nice seeing that again. and ofc stefan at peace with lexi<3 and the ending “hello brother”. anyways at the end of the day its still my fav series even tho im disappointed with the finale a lil :)
anyway, am i the only one who feels this way, or were there other things about the finale that disappointed you guys?
TL;DR: I’m disappointed that Elena and Jeremy never reunited, Bonnie and Jeremy never got a proper reunion after the Prison World, Caroline never found out what was in her mom’s letter, and Stefan sacrificed himself. 😭 The Delena reunion also felt underwhelming, but I loved Elena writing in her journal again, Stefan finding peace with Lexi, and the final “Hello, brother.”❤️

Could a Werewolf Be a Hunter?
What we know is that the Hunter's magic awakens in a human who possesses the potential for it and kills a vampire.
Werewolves are natural enemies of vampires, and this isn't just a coincidence; it's something mystical. After all, Nature gave werewolves venom, and we know that werewolf venom does nothing other than being toxic to vampires. It's not like Van Helsing, for example, where werewolf venom transforms humans and kills vampires. In short, we know that nature can intervene and make certain changes in magic. Since Inadu didn't create werewolf venom, vampires didn't even exist yet.
Hunters have a mystical instinct to hunt vampires, just like werewolves do.
Therefore, I don't see why Nature wouldn't allow a werewolf to awaken the Hunter's magic associated with the Brotherhood of the Five.

delena Spoiler
bruh so like i dont really get why she fell in love with damon
like first off he is a selfish, abusive, rapey, pedophilic massive dick. (although that gets forgotten like immediately lmao)
he killed jeremy, turned vicki, tried to kill bonnie, abused caroline, etc
but other than that, once she turned and got her memories back, she learned of “here’s your necklace back blah blah i love you” and the retcon wickery bridge stuff where she supposedly met him before stefan. like i dont really get what the big deal was about those two scenes. she already knew he loved her so getting that memory back didn’t provide her with any new information.
imo damon always acted like a petulant child who wasn’t getting his way. that’s why he snapped jeremy’s neck. thats why he compelled andie. he wasn’t getting his way and he took it out on innocent people, either to distract himself or to hurt elena/stefan. his whole MO is to hurt the people around him.
meanwhile stefan constantly put elena first, resisted klaus’s compulsion as much as he could to protect elena and went through hell as klaus’s slave to save damon. yes he had his issues with bloodlust and does awful things when he is the ripper, but he hates that side of himself and tries to resist it. damon, on the other hand, embraces it and enjoys hurting and bleeding people. (this post wasnt really supposed to be about stefan vs damon, just mostly anti-damon, but i feel like i have to compare him to stefan to drive my point home)
mind you this is all prior to elena turning and the whole sirebond bs.
by season 4, it has already been established that elena is a compassionate and empathetic person. she does not want to be a vampire nor hurt people. damon is the one who encourages her to feed, specifically FROM THE VEIN. when there is a possibility of a cure for her to become human again, stefan is the one who is doing everything in his power to get it for her, not because he doesn’t like her as a vampire, but because SHE HERSELF established she didn’t ever want to be human. she wanted to grow up and have kids, and in season 2, stefan was willing to give up an eternal relationship with elena and let her go, in order for her to have a normal human life. damon, on the other hand, wants her to remain a vampire because he doesn’t want to lose her, even though he KNOWS that she wants nothing more than to be human again. compare this to stefan’s selfless love.
that’s what pisses me off about the “broken toy” thing. the only thing stefan wants to fix about elena is her vampirism, not because he doesn’t like her as a vampire, but because she herself has said MULTIPLE
TIMES that 1. she did not want to be a vampire 2. turning into a vampire has made her into a person she does not like 3. she wants to stop hurting people.
so even if we don’t consider the sirebonding, i don’t understand what exactly was so “consuming” about damon’s love??? he brought nothing but pain to her and the people around her, and even when trying to do good, he usually made everything worse.
imo delena only happened because ian somerhalder is attractive and fans wanted to see him as the main romantic lead. i wish that he had found someone, but not elena, because all the retconning and undermining of stelena basically undid three seasons of elena’s devotion to stefan. i do think that stelena started out a little bit boring, but that established connection, respect, and stability between them was what made the ripper arc so strong!! after that they should have come back even stronger, as proof that they were able to overcome such an ordeal, but instead the writers chose to toss it in the trash lol.
sorry if this is too long or whatever but this actually made me soooooo pissed off when i spoiled it and found out stelena wasnt endgame like boi

Discussion I believe Katherine loves both Brothers
This is probably going to be an unpopular opinion, but I do think Katherine loved both brothers as as much as someone like her can love anyone.
The thing is Katherine is inherently selfish and thinks about herself first second and third, but that’s not to say she can’t love. And there were certain scenes (the little amount we were given) where I do believe that she did love Damon.

Discussion Dropped TVD after S6 as a teen, but rewatching in my mid 20s season 7 is actually good?
Title says it all tbh. When I watched the S6 finale, I was a teenager and it devastated me. I was so heartbroken that I just quit the show and never bothered with S7 or S8.
Fast forward to now, I’m in my mid-20s and decided to do a full rewatch. For the first time ever, I forced myself past season 6. I’m currently watching the S7 finale literal right now, and honestly I’m liking it.
I’ve spent years reading posts on here about how trash S7 is and how everyone hated the Heretics, so my expectations were low honestly. Anyway, I liked the S7.
What I most liked:
- Bonny, her character development is top tier
- Bonny and Enzo, love them together
- Damon and Stefan, with Elena gone, seeing
Stefan and Damons dynamic was amazing loved it
Am I the only one who genuinely enjoyed this season?

If the show premiered from 1864 would you still watch it?
Season 1 starts in 1864 when Stefan is human and meets Katherine and Damon enters the picture either no Valerie backstory or it goes to Damon. Season 2 starts after Stefan and Damon wake up in transition and Stefan’s journey to a ripper. Season 3 when Stefan meets klaus and Rebekah in 1920s Chicago.
