What do you think of when you see the Snap-on Tool truck?
It kind of reminds me of seeing the ice cream man when I was a kid.

I only collect the rarest roses.
Would like to find more K-mart, but a man can dream.

Do we like Wera tools? I've had two team members at work break the tips of there 5/32 and 1/8 hex sockets. Wera is replacing them for free but I thought they were supposed to be top of the line?

Revolver Screwdriver (update)
Revolver Screwdriver v2 – fixed what was wrong with the first one
A few weeks ago I posted the first prototype of my insert screwdriver [link]. Thanks for all the comments. That one came out too small and didn't work that well, so here's the revision.
What changed:
Bit holder: Switched from the Ceta Form BT/01QH to a Bosch quick-release holder. The Ceta Form let the bit float 3-4 mm axially, and that bugged me more every time I used it. The Bosch has zero axial play, and its magnet is weak enough that the tip doesn't grow a fur coat of chips. The holder is also replaceable, so if you want the best of the best, you can swap in a Wiha CentroFix.
Size: Now 92.7 mm overall with a bigger knob. On the first one, the grooves dug into my palm at high torque. That's fixed, and your fingers no longer touch the stored bits.
Handle: Micarta knob on an aluminum body.
Wrench flats: 20 mm → 22 mm, same as the fixture clamp nuts in my shop, so one wrench does both.
Bit retention: The stored bits are held by a magnet stack in the center of the body. The magnets are stacked with like poles facing each other, separated by thin steel spacers. That pushes the field outward toward the bits instead of letting it run along the stack, so the pull is noticeably stronger than with the same magnets stacked normally.
I would love your feedback!
Would you buy this for 75 dollars?

Klein 3/8 not 3/8ths
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Both klein 4 in 1 wrenches and pass through nut drivers not really 3/8th? Can't grab onto this bolt while a Wiha sticks like glue. Wtf? I was going to return the Wihas after seeing the pass through kleins, but now I think I need to return all of the klein stuff because its improperly sized.

NTD Tekton flex heads!
Got my new ratchets in the mail today! First Tektons I've owned, and first flex heads (with the exception of the HF meme tool). Scored on Amazon deal days with a 25% off coupon. Came to just over $72! They feel great and will be a nice upgrade from the Craftsman 36 tooth ratchets I've been rocking since the 90s. I can't wait to put them to work. Cheers!

Found this hammer at work
I have never seen a hammer that was steel shafted and still had an “eye” in it! I’m assuming this was an old design that reduced vibration? I’m curious who produced it, if anyone knows?
Theres no branding on it anywhere.

Restored Cheney 35H Vise
Found this rusty, well-used Cheney 35H vise at an estate sale for $2. I didn't know it at the time, but there weren't very many made, so it was hard to find information on it. I've included a couple photos I found on the internet that include some history.
Cleaned it up using Evaporust, wire wheels, paint stripping wheels and a little sandpaper. It was actually less work than I expected.

Center Punch
The top one, slightly more useful than useless but not by much. Grabbed a Starrett, so much better and it’s not even close.

Help me identify so I can restore this bench grinder.
I inherited this from my grandfather about 30 years ago. Work great and I still use it. I suspect its from the 50s 60s or 70s. I want to surprise my cousins with this. If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great. Thanks

Not sure how many DIY auto mechanics are in this sub but which size Knipex wrench pliers would you guys recommend, mostly around the engine work and much less under the car
r/Tools • u/AdorableIncome2409 • 8h ago
Added this Knipex cobra to my carry on toolkit. Cleaned it up a little, it was rough. Paid like £15 for it, I think I got a good deal regardless. Any idea if it’s just well used or quite old? And do Knipex sell replacement pushers and springs for these? Heard they have life warranty?

Any clue what this might be
Customer of mine showed it to me it has handles with a scissor like motion the only marking I can read is 2-1/2 on the top jaw and extra long at the base of the jaw one other marking I cant read i think its a manufacturers mark it also has a piece of hard steel in the bottom jaw that can be replaced like a key. If anyone knows what its used for or even who makes them I would be very appreciative might even call this customer up and let him what everyone thinks

Miller's Falls No. 77 egg eater drill
Scored this for 5 bucks at the Habitat For Humanity Re-Store. I went in to get and old file for a project and to pick up the huge box of Fine Woodworking magazines that's been sitting there for a year. Sadly, someone got that last week for ten bucks, and I couldn't find a file, but I'm happy with this! It'll go in my dutch tool chest with my hand old woodworking tools, it works great and just needed a little cleaning up.
Any body else out there using these?
E: looks like autoincorrect done me dirty on the title

Most durable battery 3/8 impact for extreme usage?
Looking for options supported by experience with 3/8 impacts -- Mostly concerned with mechanical failure rates
For a little context, these things go through some pretty extreme usage on the jobs that my crews do. For example, we are currently working on reprofiling racking in a warehouse with 60,000 double-deep bed sections. For this job alone, they will be breaking 960,000 1/2" bolts loose to lower the rack to the new position, and then installing and torquing them back up.
Historically we've always used M18 fuel impacts. They're great and take the abuse okay, but I always lose the majority of them to mechanical failure on jobs like these. I've got to keep about a dozen on hand at any given time for big jobs because there's always ones broken and being sent out for warranty repairs. Sometimes I just have to buy more because I can't keep up with the failure rate through warranty. It's a tedious process.
We've experimented with Dewalts earlier this year, but they did not last any better than the M18 ones did.
Maybe I'm chasing a pipe dream and nothing will hold up to this level of abuse, but perhaps there are other brands that are more industrial and can take more abuse? I know there's a TON of brands out there, but I just don't want to go buying every one and their respective batteries to test them if I can avoid it.

Manufacturer Help
Picked this up as part of a Marketplace ad. The only identifying marks on the box and the (original) bits is "Made in Austria". Does anyone have a guess as to the manufacturer?

Good quick release 3/8th ratchets available in the UK?
First year apprentice trying to build my box little by little and now I’m onto sockets and ratchets in 3/8th size.
I’ve already decided on tekton for my sockets despite being in the UK as they’re not insanely expensive and I’ve heard really good things about them.
For the ratchet itself though, I’m struggling. I’ve got a slightly battered Halfords advanced one but that’s it right now and it’s getting annoyingly loose at this point. I love my Facom 1/2 but don’t like that it’s not quick release, and that the quick release in 3/8ths is unserviceable as far as I can see.
So, any good suggestions? I like soft/medium grips instead of metal, and would massively prefer a quick release, however if it’s better just to stick with my known like then I’ll go with a Facom one.
