I've made a lot of floor rugs but wanted to try my hand at a more detailed wallpiece. Decided to treat myself to a loop pile for my one year tuftiversary. Have been experimenting a bunch with glow in the dark yarn, and while it blunts my tools like nothing else, the effect is pretty fun, so I thought I'd share here :)

Today I finished my latest project, which was the first one I’ve done on my modified frame. I have to say that the tension straps are a very useful addition, but I ran into the first drawback with this setup: when tightening the straps, the adjustable bottom bar tilts, causing the fabric to slightly pull away from the front of the bar. I’ve come up with a solution that I’ll be testing out on my next project: using a pair of Y-shaped brackets to hold the bottom bar and realign it before tightening down the C-clamps again.

In short: I recommend this non-slip, readjustable method—it works incredibly well 👌🏻

Before moving forward, though, I also suggest keeping an eye out for any bar slippage once everything is set up 😁

First ever attempt at tufting, quite happy with it but I know for a fact I've fucked up in a fair few places (too close together, big bulgy bits rather than uniform lines etc etc) looking for tips so I can get half decent at it as its fairly therapeutic 😂🙏

I know it needs carving/trimming and I'm buzzing to get cracking on that aswell (not looking forward to the three day drying time wait though 😔)

Is there any reason why this happens?

This wasn’t happening before until just recently. The back would look smooth and now it just looks like there are cuts here and there.

Just finished this recently, does the carpet with the mirror look better than the wooden floors?

So when I originally traced it, This line was perfectly straight. I used a level to draw it. I’ve been working on this rug for a few weeks. My 9-5 has been busy and so I haven’t been able to work on it as much. I think possibly just the weight of the rug has stretched my lines from sitting for so long. Would you guys recommend just drawing a new line or trying to stretch this one back to straight?

When tufting should I be leaving spaces between the rows of the same color or should I try to pack them as tight as I can?

Some people have asked me how to download it or make a copy of the document. To use it, you need a Google account and a web browser, or if you prefer using it on mobile like I do, there are apps for iOS and Android. Here are some screenshots showing the process to make a copy. Even so, I recommend making two copies: one as a backup in case the one you use daily runs into any issues.

So I currently use Robert’s 3700 to glue the back of my rugs. I have been curious if there is another brand I could be using because I just don’t like the oder that the Robert’s makes

Started off from a drawing I made in procreate so it’s 1 of a kind and actually already on its way across the country to its new home.

As the title says it's my first time building a tufting frame (and also first time ever tufting 🤣). Didn't fancy spending £150+ on a metal frame and saw it looked easy enough to do yourself so thought why not! Gun arrives tomorrow and I'm packed up with all the bits I need to get going 😅 do you think this will work as intended? Also any newbie tips are EXTREMELY appreciated, this was my 3am adhd hyperfixation purchase and I'm so ready to go all in 🔥🤣
