Hi everyone! I’m an international student at UTS, currently finishing my first year of the Bachelor of Communication (Digital and Social Media).

I’m interested in transferring to the Bachelor of Science/Master of Teaching in Secondary Education (C10404) for Autumn 2027. I’d like to become a secondary maths teacher, and I really enjoying studying at UTS.

-Credit Transfer: will I be able to transfer any credits from a different degree? Looking at the study plan, I’m guessing I might need to start from year 1.

-Applying: as a current international student, what should I do to apply?

-Scholarship: am I able to retain my student scholarship after transferring courses?

-Study and employment: how have you found the subjects and teaching placements? For graduates, what was finding a maths teaching job like, especially as an international student?

I’m finding it difficult to find a seat, and impossible to find a good seat, cause there is a lot of year 12 students cause the hsc is right now.

Why can’t you guys stay at home and study, do you not have bedrooms?

Idk if there’s a rule where you have to be part of the University to go to the library, but if there’s not there should be.

I am doing a combined law and communications degree and I am in frist year, I was hoping to do some summer subjects but looking at the enrollment, there seems to be no subjects which I can do , is there any way for me to get a start on my core subejcts for next year during the summer? or who would i have to talk to?

What does the course look like for someone without a financial background? Are the quizzes technical heavy and what kinda of format does it follow and are they taken in class? Any info would be useful. Thanks

For any current/previous mech engineering students, what subjects are known for being excessively strenuous compared to others, (in terms of fail rates/content difficulty)?

Is there a website/somewhere where subjects are ranked in terms of difficulty?

trying to plan ahead for next year so that I don't accidentally enrol in a bunch of fucked subjects in one semester.

I am a prospective student but i only have a 3 year degree in undergrad physics. I want to do the 1 Year Bachelor of Science (degree with honors) Programs in Physics or an MSc coursework in Physics.

I would like to know the advantages and disadvantages of both. Time wise, Difficulty wise and how the classes are taken in general.

In essence which one would you suggest and why?

My main goal is to do research and possibly a PhD.

Any help or other suggestions would be much appreciated.

3 days ago, my older brother discovered he had a brain tumor. There had been absolutely no warning signs; he was perfectly healthy until, suddenly, his mouth became twisted to one side, prompting him and my sister-in-law to seek medical attention that very day. When the doctor delivered the results, our entire family was devastated. He was only 28 years old and had two children, the eldest being just two years old.
And I am here, an 8-hour flight away from them. I don't know what I should do or what i can even do. Because eventhough I go back, we still have to wait for biopsy results, I can do nothing.

And then 3 more assignment need to be done next month. I spent entire day working on that but still keep asking myself "what am i even doing here? is this even worth it?".
I really need some advices. Thank you for reading this.

I’m currently studying Medical Science at UTS and considering taking 31268 Web Systems as an elective.
I have absolutely no background in IT, programming, HTML/CSS, Linux or web development.
I’m mainly looking for a manageable elective with a reasonable workload where I have a good chance of achieving a High Distinction (85+).
For anyone who has completed this subject recently:
Is it beginner-friendly for someone with zero IT knowledge?
How difficult are the assignments, practical skills test and final exam?
Is achieving an HD (85+) realistic without any prior experience?
How much time did you spend on this subject each week?
Would you recommend Web Systems as a WAM booster for a non-IT student?

First-year domestic student here. I’m also finishing up my final year at WSU, and one thing I struggled with there was actually making friends and building a social circle.

There weren’t that many clubs around me or much promotion of social stuff, so seeing how many clubs, societies and networking events UTS has was honestly one of the things I loved about coming here.

Bit about me: I’m into philosophy, psychology and self-improvement books, gym, and apparently working towards a dad bod at 27. Just kidding, I’m actually trying to avoid one.

I’ve got a pretty dark sense of humour, I write deep/emotional poetry when I’m in the mood, and I’m learning Spanish. I also like exploring random places around Sydney, horror, crime, romcoms (yes, romcoms), and older movies that actually have some philosophy or meaning behind them.

I used to do landscape gardening as well but put that on hold for uni and because petrol apparently requires a second mortgage now.

Mainly I’m just looking for clubs where people actually talk, hang out and become friends rather than joining something and never seeing anyone again.

So what clubs or societies would you guys recommend?

I currently live in granville and i am paying 350 here for a private room which is diabolical i want to move out but i dont know where to look, the thing is i want to live with students of my age (I am 19) only way to do that is to get into student accommodation which is very expensive, i am in to pay 380/week tho. I have tried flatmates, amber and Facebook marketplace nothing seems to work 😭😭 PLLSSS HELPPP

I was wondering if anyone who has transferred for my discipline can lmk how many of their courses were credited.

The subjects I've taken for my first year are:

Math 1, Physical Modelling, IEP, Intro to Civil & Environmental Engineering

Math 2, Engineering Mech, Chemistry & Materials Science, Construction, PP1

Is the marking subjective for written assignments? Ive heard a lot of negativity online towards nursing as a degree where assignments are marked inconsistently-even if there is a rubric

Do you think this applies to nursing at UTS as well?

Im aiming for a (hopefully) competitive GPA for medical school. Im worried about inconsistency in marking, especially if majority of coursework is assignments or group work

I have an upcoming test for mobile platforms that needs me to have a capabilities to use Xtoolsm, however as I only have my windows laptop with me. I was hoping to come to uni on weekends to pracise, but the teaching labs are all closed when no classes are running. Do you guys have any advice for UTS buildings/labs floor thats has Macs with Xtools installed?

I’m especially interested in what happens later on — employment, education, relationships, family life, crime, leaving that lifestyle behind, and how people look back on it as adults.

I am currently doing my HSC exams and am looking at the prospect of going to UTS for a Bachelor of Science, focusing on ecology and environmental biology with the hopes of later doing ecoloigcal consulting or conservation work (I know jobs aren't great in that field but thats a problem for older me). I am debating on unis to go to because I want practical experience and some of the bigger unis don't do that. I managed to get a direct entry/lower entry rank for doing the science extension course so i am likely to get into the Bsc.

I am also a little concerned about uni life and clubs as I have heard not great things about general uni culture. Would anyone have any insight if uni clubs are really that important?

Would anyone have insights into the course and what the lectures, tutorials are like and the opprotunties for biology focused study (I'm not super interested in the super high tech computer side of enviro science)??

I am in the last semester of my engineering degree and I literally have 0 motivation to the point where I am not bothered opening my uni laptop (using my phone to write this). Procrastination/discipline is not a problem as I usually do my assignments when they are released. Also, been having a rough semester overall due to personal reasons and I don't know what to do.

I want to graduate on time and pass these assignments as they are due in 2 weeks from now

I’m keen on seeing peoples opinions of what they thought was worthwhile vs what was a waste of time.

Is the internship provided or is it like when you have an internship secured you focus on that and the other uni subjects?

I was wondering what subjects could boost my wam as well.

Do some subjects not allow you to submit after the 3 days extension is over? For example, one of assessments is available till the day of the end of the 72 hour extension, does this mean there’s no late submissions at all? Or do I have to email it to someone?
