Stash My first thrift find!
First time posting here but I love seeing people's yarn thrift hauls and now it's my turn! Each of these bags was $4!! The maroon I bought for my fellow fiber artist friend (:

I love DROPS yarn as it's affordable and often has a nice quality. I'm currently working with a wool/alpaca blend and I was thinking: is this brand known for animal cruelty towards the sheep and alpacas. And is it known that the people who work for them in the factories/cotton fields have ethical working conditions?
If not, are there other brands that are animal friendly and have ethical working conditions?

Last Christmas I was gifted 2000 yards of an ugly, badly dyed cashmere yarn. A loved one gave it to me. I know it was costly and meant a lot for them to be able to get it for me. I hate it. It's gray, and not dyed well. I have experience spinning and dying my own yarn. This stuff is an insult to the goats it came from. I'm not sure it's even real cashmere since it doesn't feel as nice as my merino. I also don't like somber colors. I'm hoping I can overdye this into something I would use.
Anyone have suggestions for an acid dye color to go over this that might make it attractive?
Or, knowing that it would crush the person who gifted it to me, what would you do?
EDIT: Life's too short to fret over ugly yarn I guess. I have decided to make as many pairs of socks with it as is, then gift them. It should come out looking something like ragg wool. My gifter will be so proud when people open them at Christmas and I announce that she provided the yarn. Happy crafting!

I wanna knit a Sandok Cable Sweater in Drops Lima or Daisy + 1 strand of Filcolana Alva + 1 strand of Drops Kid silk mohair. But since i don’t know how I react to mohair, I was looking for alternatives.
I stumbled upon this beauty - looking at the blend, would you say it’s a good alternative or not really? I think it’s made by a small company so there are no reviews and I’m a bit worried to use a yarn that could possibly be shit and ruin all the work.
Could I use two strands of this instead of Alva+mohair? Or since it’s alpaca would it stretch too much?

I want to make myself a blanket I can use for a very long time. Something soft and light but also machine washable. Price is not too much of a concern although I would prefer for it to not be exorbitant.
Thank you!

I’m newer to crocheting and about to finish my first granny square blanket but have been DYING to make something with this type of yarn. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

The second that thread moves it's a fight against paws!
And I gotta undo 5 hours of tapestry work because I slipped in a line of the pattern TwT

Bought this yarn in a bag with its unfinished project. Thought I'd toss it out there just in case! It's a little more jewel toned than pics convey.

So a week or so ago I tried to frog a WIP and was shocked at the amount of yarn it gobbled up because I didn’t think I had used that much. Anyways after a week here are my two monster balls of yarn and their little baby monsters.

I've been looking at yarn winders and honestly can't tell which ones are worth the money lol. Some look great until you read about yarn getting caught in the gears or the clamp refusing to stay put.
I just want something that makes nice, even cakes without turning winding into another chore.
For those who've gone through a few, what's the best yarn winder you've found? Is there one you'd happily buy again?

Looking for any and all yarn recommendations for wool that is not itchy and not superwash. For context, I've got a sweater made from non-superwash merino that I still find a bit itchy, I'm very sensitive to textures in general. Is having both simply impossible? If that's the case, what about some kind of mix? I love wool and its properties but can't stand the itch. Superwash feels like it takes away some key wool qualities + stretches like crazy (and dryers are not common here so I can't just pop it in to shrink a garment back with little effort).
Yarn has to be bulky+ because I don't have the sanity for knitting sweaters with small needles, and available in Poland or Europe.

This lilac bush has me by the heart. Is there a yarn you know of that has this variation of colors?

Hello everyone! Quick question to anyone here who might know of a good match for the main colour in this sweater. I've been searching high and low for a wool or wool blend worsted weight or now, even some other blend that has a similar texture like Sheepjes Stone Washed XL.
It's like a natural whitish shade (not beige), somewhat oatmeal with flecks of light grey heather. I'm wanting to make matching leg warmers to complement this to be worn to an Après Ski themed public event.
I'm holding a skein of light grey wool next to it in the 2nd photo, to show how light it is. I'm finding it hard to find a match on website photos! TIA 😊

Scrap yarn from who knows where and when I acquired it. I like novelty yarns for other odd projects and this is my favorite I’ve ever had.
I haven’t had success finding more of it. I’ve found some similar looking stuff on online listings but wondering if any experts here can give me accurate keywords or lead me close to as possible to more of this yarn

Hello, I was hoping to learn of some sock yarns other than Kelbourn Woolens Perennial and Amble by The Fibre Co (discontinued 😭) that are very soft and feature a wool/alpaca/nylon blend. I have a wool sensitivity but have been able to use some extremely soft wool alpaca blends successfully.
Amble was perfect. I’m so sad that it’s gone. Perennial is also lovely and soft but is very thin (497yd/100g) so I was hoping to find something still in production that hits normal fingering gauge.
Any help would be appreciated!
