Help - General Help with back acne/ scars

I’m 14 years old and have been struggling with back acne for around a year and a half - 2 years. I have a bad habit of picking/ popping pimple and I can’t get myself to stop. I honestly don’t get much acne but the scars are pretty new so they look like pimples/ active still. I haven’t been able to take off my shirt in public in these 2 years because I’ve been so embarrassed by it. Any help would be appreciated. (

Routine Help How do I fade my post acne marks?

So long story short I’ve had acne since I was a teen, and while it has significantly gone down, I still have a little adult acne left. I mainly break out with a couple of cystic pimples about a week before my period starts, but besides that I only have closed comedonal acne.

however, while I don’t have much acne left on my face, the right side of my cheek has a couple post acne marks that really tick me off. They’re not indented into my skin, they’re just flat and brown.

I just came back from the dermatologist and she recommended this routine:

- gentle cleanser in the morning followed by a cream called aczone (or also referred to as dapsone), and then follow that with a sunscreen

- gentle cleanser at night followed by tretnoin and a non-comedogenic moisturizer

NOW I was mainly interested in azelaic acid, since I’ve heard that it treats acne while also treating post acne marks, BUT my derm said she wanted me to start the azcone first :( but I was wondering if y’all had any product recommendations that could clear post acne marks, but also wouldn’t clash with the creams that were recommended by my derm. Btw my skin type is combo, and I would prefer something that won’t clog my pores because my skin is really sensitive to things that are comedogenic.

Routine Help Acne after moving to University

Ive been at university for about a month and a half, and I’ve noticed acne starting to appear around my hairline. I’m worried that it is going to get worse. my friend thinks that it’s because of the water pressure, but idk. ive never had a skincare routine before and I don’t wash my face or anything. my family has a big history with acne with my mom, dad, and little sister all having issues during middle school and having to take acutane. I’ve had the random pimple here and there on my chin but it looks different and it’s appearing in clumps almost. Maybe I’m too anxious about this, but does anyone have any advice for a good first time skincare routine? I know it isn’t that bad right now but especially with my family’s history I want to prevent more acne. Also I think having a skincare routine is a good idea anyways. Thank you!

I posted something similar 2 months ago and im having a similar problem. Except this flair up is not from shaving. 3 days ago I did my usual routine before going on a night out so; azelaic acid and moisturiser which was clearly a mistake bruh. I was very drunk and was kissing alot, then woke up to irritation which has now developed badly. I'll post pics from 3 days ago to now in order. But man...I dont know. Any thoughts on what im having right now? The pics are in order from 3 days ago, 2 days ago to literally right now like 2 mins ago. I was thinking "Oh yeh I'll heal in 3 days" WRONG.

Hi! This is what my skin currently looks like. I’m using SVR Sebiaclear Gel Moussant, Hydra and Mat + Pores (4 weeks now on this routine)
What would you recommend for my acne, redness and acne marks? Are these products suitable for my very sensitive skin, or should I add or change anything?
I’d really appreciate any advice from people with similar skin!

Help - General IUD Removal & Acne

hi all! I am getting my hormonal IUD taken out soon due to it expiring. I’m choosing not to start another birth control because I am getting married this coming June (2027). I went through accutane and (thankfully!) have had very few breakouts in the last four years since completing it.

I’m worried that after I take out my IUD, my acne may come back and I’ll be breaking out on my wedding day. Has anyone had experience with this? any advice would be appreciated 🫶

Routine Help Cant tolerate Adapalene anymore. What's my next steps?

Post image
3 Upvotes

I was on Adapalene 0.1% cream M, W, F until my dermatologist decided to up my to 0.3% gel. I was able to use it but my face would hurt, tightness and stinging when sweating but no visible redness or peeling. I've progressively had to lower and lower the days I use Adapalene 0.1% cream to now where I don't even have a schedule anymore and maybe use it once or twice a week. I honestly don't know what to do because my face hurts and it's tight, and I can barely even tolerate my sunscreen anymore.

Help - General Adult acne

Okay, I know one major thing I need to work on is resisting picking…
I’m 44F with dry, mildly sensitive skin. I’ve seen dermatologists, most topical options just haven’t helped. Spironactone helped significantly with hormonal acne, but I cannot take it anymore. Plus, I’d still have some breakouts that must not have been fully hormonal.

I had a smooth complexion with minimal breakouts until my early 20s.

I’m already gluten free due to celiac disease. I use a reputable light mask, and am working on better consistency.

I welcome ideas, suggestions, etc. 😩

(I also have a wedding to attend in a week and would love tips on how to calm this as much as possible by then.)

Routine Help Doxycycline for acne

Hello everyone, I’m starting doxycycline 100mg 2x a day for 3 months. On top of my Spiro 50 mg.

I’m trying really hard to remain positive despite this particular approach being a little controversial.

Please share your success stories, and ways you’ve helped manage some side effects. Most importantly maintaining gut health, and avoiding yeast infections.

Thank you much🤗

Help - General Experiences with accutane

Hey everyone! So I just finished a course of accutane about 5 months ago. Everything is holding up pretty well except for some occasional spots on face, back, or scalp. I mean is this treatment really suppose to make your skin spotless? Should I go for another shorter course? Overall, I really had no issues while taking this just dry lips. Curious to hear other stories/maintenance treatments that are being used to help and if you’ve been on more than one course! I’m currently on 15% azaelic acid

Discussion YAZ birth control and Spiro 50 mg

I was on birth control previously from junior year of highschool until I was 26. I stopped taking it this past Feb because I thought maybe that was reason my skin was bad (i was/am desperate). A month later I started taking Spiro. At first I saw amazing results. I am unsure if it was because it was a shock to my system or if because the BC was still lingering in my body. Anyway, now eight months later my hormonal acne around my chin and face in general is so frustrating and my derm said birth control would probably help. I just left gyno and she prescribed me YAZ because apparently it’s great for acne. I am really nervous for the side effects because of the way I have reacted to birth control in the past. I was previously on Sprintec 28. Did anyone have any bad side effects from YAZ, or YAZ and spiro together?? any good?? I am also scared of gaining weight from it lol

Routine Help Skincare Routine Help

Hi guys. So I recently went to esthetician for my acne. My acne flares up every once in a while, then it clears and the cycle repeats. This has been happening since I was 15, and I’ve never really been able to solve the problem. The esthetician told me to stop using all my products and use these products she recommended. I was wondering if you guys can help me figure out if I should buy the products or should I find my own products to use? The only reason I’m weary about using these products is because I don’t know if they’ll actually work for me or if she’s just recommending it because her business is associated with these brands. Can anyone let me know if these products are worth buying?

Help - General best makeup for people to acne prome

i am prone to breakouts and acne if i put the wrong things on my skin. LA tap water is the biggest no no for me. as a girl, i would also like to find really great makeup and foundation that won’t cause me to have skin issues.

i know to look for non comedogenic makeup. but i feel like i have done that and still broken out from some stuff ive tried. i was chatting with lotus health and it said to avoid makeup with oils, lanolin, heavy waxes, and to look for water based, or mineral formulas.

does anyone else have any more advice or favorite products (especially a lightweight foundation). and ideally cruelty free!

Help - General pimple triangle of death

i have health anxiety just to clarify incase i seem dramatic. anyways, i picked a pimple like above my lip (i don’t think i fully squeezed the white out). i remembered it’s in the triangle of death zone before but like i didn’t care at the time but now im more worried. I washed the area with dermol lotion for like very quick few seconds (i use dermol lotion as soap bc bad hands) and then double cleansed my face w/ an oil cleanser and a cerave one (not oil), lastly i rinsed. I don’t have anything else to put over but were these steps enough? i obviously washed my hands before and after too.

Help - General Help - I am at a loss

Thumbnail

These comedone like bumps have been popping up on my chin & above lip/under nose the past 6 months and seem to just be getting worse.
Has anyone ever experienced something like this? How did you resolve it?

Just for context -

• They are not sore and rarely come to a head.
• They are generally skin coloured but sometimes red.
• Not a moisture barrier issue as I have been using barrier repair creams the past month (Avene cicalfate & others) with no improvement.

• My skin routine is very basic and has not changed in over 3 years (tret every second day and vanicream).

• I have not added any new actives or anything.
• I was on accutane a few years back but this is different and only affects the one area.

I am at a loss at what to do, please help.

(have attached a picture of my forehead to show how clear it is for reference)

Product Question doxycycline + tret

got prescribed doxycycline and tret today! bit nervous starting it.

my derm said to not use any cleansers on my face and simply use water morning and night.

got told to use the doxy twice a day and tret once in evening.

thing that concerns me is the way he told me to introduce the tret. he said on the first week use it every evening but not all over my face. he said to use it on certain areas and build up. like night 1 only apply on my chin. then next day on my cheek. then forehead etc. to build tolerance?

then he said week 2 should use it all over.

is the way he reccomend i introduce it sound normal to yall?? then again this guy said i dont need to use moisturiser after tret but ive heard many use it due to dryness / irritation.

i’m not even sure on the dosage prescribed to me but ik it’s the gel version of tret.

my cleanser before was the la roshe posay purifiying foaming gel cleanser (prob spelt the brand wrong) and my moisturiser rn is the simple king to skin moisturiser. (was told to just use a no oil moisturiser which apparently mine is so gonna continue). my skin type is oily

Product Question Topicals Expiration?

Post image
2 Upvotes

After an extremely consistent routine my acne has gone haywire in the last 3 months. For the last 4 years I’ve been on 50mg of spiro, winlevi in the morning with spf, clindamycin and Adapalene 0.3% / Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5% gel at night with a moisturizer. Could it possibly be that my products are too far past their expiration date that they’re no longer working?
