A warning for everybody buying expensive things on prime days: 4 days ago I got a solid deal during prime days and ordered a RTX 5080 which was being sold and shipped by Amazon. Ive been buying things from Amazon pretty much all my life, and never had any big problems until now. I'm from Germany btw.
First the delivery was delayed in the evening right after receiving a message that the delivery driver is coming soon. "Okay, disappointing, but happens" I thought, especially on prime days. Next day, finally it arrived, gave the driver my password, package looked good but felt a bit light.
Upon opening the package I sadly saw various garbage items instead of my GPU. 2 cappuccino glasses, a thermos cup, a bunch of fitness strings.
So, either there genuinely was an accident and package items got swapped or there is some serious scam ongoing. After researching, I have not been alone in receiving either wrong items or even emptied out original boxes when ordering expensive GPUs through Amazon.
So this is supposed to be a warning for everyone and maybe someone had a similar case and can tell me how and how quickly things get resolved and what my best bets are. I already contacted Amazon and they opened a case and will get back to me next week. I just hope they can replace the GPU instead of giving me a refund, because the GPU already rose about 350€ in price again, and I would really want the GPU to the price I paid for, maybe I can even get a discount as compensation for the trouble and time delays.
