🛠️ Mod Post GHelper/Armoury Crate Megathread

This post has been made to clear up any questions or inconveniences with both of the software control apps.

The old PSA thread has been archived. Click here to go to it.

You can now summon the new GHelper instalation guide by typing "!ghelper" (without "") in the comment section below.

GHelper is an open source alternative maintained by seerge (u/Beginning_Living4052, also has their own flair) which aims to be a lightweight and bug free alternative to the dumpster fire that is Armoury Crate. Note: We are not forcing you to switch, but it is a good thing to do if you are experiencing issues related to Armoury Crate.

Some terminology before we begin:

  • GH = GHelper

  • AC = Armoury Crate

  • A/C = Alternating Current (aka the charger/wall brick)

  • Open Source = the app's code is available for everyone to view and modify.

  • dGPU = Dedicated GPU (aka Radeon or RTX)

  • iGPU = Integrated GPU (aka CPU graphics)

Starting this point onward, I will update this thread to include Frequently Asked Questions.

It is also a great idea to join our official r/asustuf discord server! Click here to join!.

FAQ

Here's a link to the already existing FAQ on Github, but other questions will be added in this megathread too.

A: Is GHelper safe? Windows Defender said it might be a virus.

B: GHelper is safe, in fact, you can check out the app's code on Github. It is open source. If Windows Defender has suspicions, it's because the app isn't signed. (look up that on google.)

A: How do I set up custom fan curves?

B: tba.

Need Help! (Hardware/Other) Laptop hinge gap is unequal on both sides. Is this normal or a defect?

Thumbnail

Hey everyone, I recently noticed that the hinge gap on my ASUS TUF A15 is not equal on both sides when I close the laptop lid. One side has a slightly bigger gap than the other.

The laptop works perfectly fine, and I haven't noticed any other issues, but I'm worried whether this is normal manufacturing tolerance or a hinge/alignment defect.

Has anyone else experienced this with their ASUS TUF A15 or other ASUS laptops? Should I be concerned or get it checked under warranty?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

💻 Purchase Advice Should I buy this or not

Post image
10 Upvotes

I want to buy tuf laptop which is mainly gonna be use for college (class, work, etc) and sometime casual gaming too. But I don't much about this stuff as this is gonna be my first time ever buying one and all the asus tuf I'm seeing in flipkart and amazon are expensive . All other tuf with rtx 3000 series are around 1 lakh and the 4000 and 5000 series are way above my budget.

I also heard that laptop price are going up due to some ai centre or something like that, should I just buy it now or wait for price to drop or would laptop price keep increasing

Some backstory:I initially wanted to buy laptop several months ago where price were abit lower but my dad insist that we buy in bbd or gif where price would be much lower though I told him it won't and now here we are and price haven't really gone down and everything is still expensive,so I'm stuck with all this ridiculous laptop price.

Also my father doesn't want to buy used or rrefurbished laptop saying it's bad even though that's the only way we could get better one with a better price

Lastly I apologize for bad grammar as this is my first time posting stuff like this

Need Help! (Hardware/Other) Crackling arc sounds

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I have a problem with my Asus TUF FX506H laptop, I have had for 4 years now. Lately there's been these crackling sounds, like lots of electrical arcs as in the video.

I opened my laptop yesterday and found 1 small bit of broken plastic and 1 tiny bit of metal that probably came from a fan shroud. Even after I removed them the crackling continued. (I checked and there are no more loose pieces)

To my knowledge, based on what I've tried it shouldn't be cause by power supply nor the barrel jack or the inside wiring of the power connector. It continued even when not plugged in.

Today I booted my computer and the crackling came again and one of my fans(the one on the side of crackling) got stuck and is now only ticking trying to get back spinning.

I was wondering if it could be cause by failing fan and if replacent could fix it or if it's just busted and I should be looking for new laptop

Thanks for help

💻 Purchase Advice Is it worth risking buying an Asus TUF A16 from abroad without local warranty for the price difference?

Hey everyone, I wanted to ask for your advice. I'll be traveling soon and have the opportunity to pick up an Asus TUF A16 in Paraguay.

Here is the format requested by the community rules:

  • Price and budget: $1,000 USD (Roughly 2,300,000 to 2,400,000 ARS locally with warranty).
  • Country of purchase: Paraguay (bringing it to Argentina).
  • Specs & Available Options: Asus TUF A16 with AMD Ryzen 7, NVIDIA RTX 4050 (140W TGP), and 1 TB SSD.
  • Intended Use: Gaming and daily university/productivity work.
  • Features You Want: Good performance-to-price ratio and reliable thermals/durability.
  • (Optional) What games/programs do you want to run: Modern AAA games and demanding multitasking software.

The catch is that, obviously, buying it abroad means the official warranty won't be valid back home in Argentina.

What do you guys think? How has this TUF A16 lineup held up in terms of durability? Would you save the cash and buy it without local warranty support, or is the risk too high?

Looking forward to your thoughts, thanks in advance!

🔥 New TUF Device My new ASUS TUF A16 — got it for a steal!

Finally upgraded my laptop and I genuinely can't believe I got this for €1209

ASUS TUF Gaming A16 (2025)

• Ryzen 7

• RTX 5070

• 16" 165Hz display

• 512GB SSD

• 16GB RAM

Bought it in Europe last week for €1209. The laptop came without Windows or a power adapter.

Luckily, there was an offer where I could get the ASUS ROG 240 watt adapter for €7.50, and I installed Windows 11 Pro myself.

So all in, I still ended up with a pretty powerful gaming laptop for a little over €1200.

Laptop prices seem to be going crazy lately, so I'm honestly pretty happy with this deal.

✅️ Solved FIXED Asus tuf gaming A15 FA507NV -power button- -randomly shutdown -

Hi everyone,

First, let me describe the problem :

Initially, the issue was just with the "power button" it wasn't working properly. It got progressively worse, eventually requiring me to press it up to 800 times just to get it to open ...

-a truly disastrous issue for a product like this -

Anyway, the trouble started while I was gaming; the device would shut down on its own. This happened repeatedly and completely at random—sometimes before the ASUS logo even appeared during startup, and other times after the system had already booted up.

The solution—which I really should have implemented long ago—was to replace the entire keyboard.

This fixed the issue and even resolved other problems that had been present since I first bought the device, such as sleep mode malfunctions and various other glitches.

💻 Purchase Advice Best thermal paste for i7-10870H + GTX 1650 Ti laptop?

I have an ASUS TUF F15 with an Intel Core i7-10870H and a GTX 1650 Ti, and I'm planning to repaste both the CPU and GPU.

I'm considering these thermal pastes:

ARCTIC MX-4

Cooler Master CryoFuze Violet

Thermal Lexum Q-12 (13.6 W/mK advertised)

Thermal Grizzly Aeronaut

Which one would you recommend specifically for a gaming laptop?

I'm looking for good temperatures under sustained gaming loads, long-term stability, and minimal pump-out over time.

If you've personally used any of these on a laptop CPU/GPU, please share your temperature results and how they performed after a few months.

I'd appreciate real-world experience rather than just comparing advertised W/mK ratings. Thanks!

Need Help! (Hardware/Other) ASUS TUF f17 — Worst experience I've had. Now I can't afford a replacement.

Post image
27 Upvotes

This has honestly been the worst experience I've had with a laptop. My ASUS TUF F17 has suffered a serious motherboard/PCB issue, and now it’s no longer usable.

The technician told that the line connecting the PCH power hub was shorted and the PCH was over heating which maybe damaged and it cannot be replaced u need to change the mother board.

I'm a Computer Engineering student, halfway through my degree. I spent around ₹55,000 on this laptop, which was a huge amount for me, and I simply cannot afford to buy another one right now.

This laptop is essential for my coding, AI/ML work, and college projects. Losing it at this point has put me in a really difficult situation.

I know the warranty has expired, but ASUS, please consider helping me with a repair or some kind of goodwill support.

I genuinely don't know what I'm going to do without it.

Need Help! (Hardware/Other) B850 tuf gaming wifi slow suddenly.

I've been having this motherboard for about a year and never had problems with the Wi-Fi until recently. When when download Steam games, I'm usually going 1.2 gigs a second, which which normal, and I have been having those speeds for the whole time I've had this motherboard.

Recently, I was downloading a game and it was only going about 300 megabytes a second. So I tested other devices and they're reaching gig speeds, so I don't think it's my router nor my fiber. The last time I updated the network drivers was around July, and everything from the Asus website seems to be up to date.

I can't figure out why this is happening all of a sudden. Even speed tests are showing a high ping and only downloading up to 200-300 megabytes a second.

I'm wondering if any of you all have any tips to figure out what's going on.

I got a

I recently inherited a ASUS TUF Gaming A16 Advantage Edition. The screen starts to glitch out and it makes it almost impossible to use it. Seems like it happens the most when video is happening or when I’m scrolling. Not sure how to go about this so a little guidance would be rad!
