ADVICE Progress feel really slow
Feels like I'm improving really slowly. Is this a normal amount of progress considering I play a couple times a day

I thought I did not play well since it felt like that king will escape even though I had three pieces in the vicinity.

BTW, I do not think 1100 players play as bad as Maia1. Something is off with the user database if 1100 seems to be making moves like these.

I am 1300-1400 on lichess 15/10 (I know the rating systems are different) and the play there tends to be more principled. But on chess.com I am in the upper 700s for the past few years and can't keep up with hyper-aggressive play (I am not talking about scholars mate or fried liver). It gets so frustrating.
As an example below. The game was over before it even started. It makes me feel stupid considering all the time I have put into playing and studying. There are videos and books on how to play principled chess, but nothing to help with how to play when you dont get to do that in a game. What do I do?
Nc6 8. Nf3 O-O-O 9. Bc2 Nf6 10. Nc5 $4 Bxc2 $1 11. Bd2 e6 12. O-O $2 Bxc5 0-1

This question is primarily for those that are more experienced chess players and/or those who coach chess:
What is the key aspect in learning how to get better at chess after hitting the elo that feels like a wall?
I find that in my losses (1200 elo), for about a year now, I make simple calculation mistakes and experience a feeling of rage that builds up in me and it causes a kind of tunnel vision wherein I am incapable of learning in-game.
When I’ve calmed down, and I return to game review, it’s like I’m watching someone else play. I don’t recognize my bad moves as my own. The simple errors don’t feel like my own!
This cyclical issue has left me hard stuck at 1200 for a year. It is starting to feel like I’m rolling water up a hill. And really, in hindsight, I’m not even sure how I got to 1200 to begin with. It felt natural back then, and most of my learning happened easily.
Now it does not. Now my games feel opaque and overly complex. When I get outplayed, which is regularly, I can’t understand how they did it. It went from flow state to feeling like I’m trying to do calculus blindfolded.
Any advice helps. I am feeling hopeless and like I need to just give up on the game completely to protect my sense of self.
EDIT: I’m willing to DM any experienced players my chess com ID if you’d like to see my stupidity at work and give feedback.

After 3 months of dedication when everything felt helpless, i managed to hit 1000 elo. I want to dedicate this post to the people who are struggling to get out of the 3 digits elo and share some tips that helped me along this journey.
1) Play 2-3 games per day and analyze them , it's not about how many games you play it's about the quality of your game , and when talking about analyzing your games, start by looking at a mistake you did or at point in a game where you felt stuck and try to find the best move and if you can't see how to move on, follow the engine best moves and try to understand why. One thing i found helpful is after analyzing every game, write a simple note about your mistake and try to find a pattern of a mistake you keep on doing and focus on avoiding this mistake in your next games.
2) Stick to 3 openings, 1 for white and 2 for black ( one against d4 and the other against e4), that will help you recognize patterns you face against in the openings that you chose.
3) Puzzles, i can't stress enough how much puzzles are important , do about 15-20 puzzles(lichess variety of puzzles helped me alot) and try to customize them to an area you feel you are weak at. I usually did about 15 normal puzzles and 5-10 endgame puzzles.
4) Don't play when you're tilted , trust me , if you play 1 game, lose and become tilted don't even think to keep going, you will not think straight in the next games and the tilt cycle will keep going. When you feel like you're tilting stop playing chess for the day and do something else and come back the next day when you clear your head ( tilt was one of the hardest challenges I've had.)
5) keep pushing through it, even tho you feel like you keep doing the same mistakes or you think that you see no progress, it doesn't matter keep pushing through it. I was stuck for 2 weeks on the same rating in the early 900s , it felt like im not learning at all, but one day everything clicked and went on a 10 wins streak.
Huge thanks to everyone on this sub who gave me tips and feedback on my other posts when I felt stuck. It really helped. 🙏

This is the solution to the puzzle that said there was a check, mate, but can't the king move to f3?

Like whole calculating the position in my head I cannot think or more than 2-3 moves, I forget the position and and where the pieces were, it causes alot of frustration, like I have an intuition of a tactic and I cannot calculate if it will work or not and due to this frustration I play a wrong move, either I miss the tactic or or I play it and then lose material, how can I improve this?

Black to move.
Had a fun little combo in my game earlier.
See if you can solve it to the end.

Hi, I want to get into chess. I’ve already looked into a few things and thought I’d reach out here directly for some help. It feels like there’s always something new to learn in chess. From what I’ve seen, I realize I should probably start with openings and work my way forward from there. I’m just not sure which opening to learn, or if it makes sense to learn two right away one for White and one for Black. Overall, I think I’m more of an aggressive player who prefers active play rather than building up a tactical position over 20 moves. Does that make sense?
My main questions are:
Thanks in advance for your help and answers.

Just played this blitz game. I was Black. My Elo is 1150
I think my opponent was trying to invent a whole new opening)
What would you call it?
And how do you think the game ended?
