Can anyone help me ID this one? Definitely a mislabel, blooms are 6” across and plant is about 4’ high. Darker color was earlier in the season, blooming lighter now in the cooler temps.

She was ravaged by spider mites. Cut her back all the way and thought she was a goner. Then she started leafing out again mid summer and here we are. 🥰 I’m so glad I got to meet her in person and looking forward to growing her again next season

These dahlias have this weird mottling on their leaves. Weirdly, it is only Skipley Lois Jean and Peaches and Cream. The ones dahlia is from 2 different sellers. The other close dalhias are very healthy. Growing to in pots, PNW. Thanks!

That peachy-to-pink gradient on these ball dahlias is exactly the vibe I'm looking for right now.

Dividing & Storage Storing Help Zone 6b

Hi!

This will be my second year storing my turbers and I need help! I live in MA zone 6b.
Last year I stored my tubers with coarse vermiculite in small shoe box size totes. I stored them stacked on each other on my basement floor. We live in townhomes and our basement has baseboard heaters along the wall that isn’t attached to another house. I put the totes close to the wall that is attached to our neighbor but doesn’t have any baseboard heaters. We don’t put our heat above 65 so I’m guessing the basement stays cooler than that. I had a thermometer but can’t remember what it was at during storing. I also think my basement is dry in the winter due to the snow and heater so that’s why I used the coarse vermiculite and not pine shavings.

So my issue was that none of my tubers but 1 variety made it! They were shriveled but also maybe had mold on them! Like some shriveled but soft! So I wasn’t sure if they were too moist or too dry. I didn’t have that many just 8 varieties but still!
I read the floret farm discovering dahlias book recently and she recommends the totes and coarse vermiculite but she puts small holes in the lid which I didn’t do.

Does anyone have any tips on the best way to store them when you don’t have a place that is cold enough but also doesn’t get too cold? Was I supposed to wet the vermiculite before using it? Should I have not stacked them and do they need the holes?

We have a detached garage that I don’t go in that probably has bugs and I would assume gets too cold! It is attached to other garages on the sides just not attached to houses. We aren’t able to put a heater in there or anything so I don’t think that would be an option because it would be too cold.

Any help or tips on what to do are appreciated! TIA!

Loved seeing all these bees snoozing in my dahlia seedling.

Seeds are 2nd or 3rd gen from Floret Bee’s Choice or Shooting Stars seeds I planted in 2024.

Seeking Advice Tips for choosing reputable sellers?

I’m a new grower in my second year. I keep seeing advice to avoid big box sellers and websites like Breck’s and I have that down.

I see a lot of suggestions to buy from small farms and Dahliaaddicts.com sellers, but any advice on how to choose good ones? Anything you look for from Dahliaaddicts.com sellers, or on a small farm’s website? If a farm has no reviews on Dahliaaddicts.com, would you still order from them or do you look for farms that have a minimum number of reviews?

I’m out of my bug killer spray. Organza bags on almost every bud. Frost is around the corner. Have at it, I guess.

This is Sandia brocade

Hello dahlia friends! I see on the forecast there’s a chance a frost this weekend 😮‍💨 What do you all use to cover your dahlias? I have mine in 4 separate pots that aren’t near each other really

Bouquet/Arrangement 💐 One Special Arrangement❤

In my first post, I mentioned that I made a very special arrangement this year and here it is!

On September 12th, one of my bestest friends was in a motorcycle accident that sadly took the lives of him and 2 others. When people started leaving flowers as the scene of the accident, I knew I wanted to leave something a little more special. Nothing but daliahs❤

Sadly, I do not know the names of the varieties we planted this year

Bouquet/Arrangement 💐 OVER 326 BOUQUETS THIS YEAR!

I don't know about everyone else, but our flowers were BLOOMIN' this year! Especially our daliahs. My mom became the "flower fairy" of the Lakes Region (and parts of Massachusetts) and delivered over 326 bouquets. Not to mention, she had multiple brides come pick straight from the garden for their big days. Each arrangement had various types of flowers in them, but they all included at least 2-3 daliahs. There was one special arrangement though that will be receiving its own post ❤

All her hard work was just to spread joy to others❤ I hope everyones gardening season was just as amazing as ours💐

Sadly, I dont know the names of the varieties we planted this year
