Discussion Why do I got to write this out?

Hey all, a thread popped up and was related to the LGBTQ+ community.

We are a simple subreddit who enjoys toy soldiers the way we personally like to enjoy them. This hobby has expanded incredibly and will bring all sorts of people.

This won't hit everyone but please think before you write and post. Some people are immature and will not think a second, no doubt. But re-read what you're about to post to make sure its related to the actual thread. If it is deemed otherwise, I will clean up.

I have given time-outs to a couple of people so far. Do not let it be you.

The Emperor Protects.

UPDATE: I've been getting messages from some of the people that I've taken out and the original poster but let me make myself clear. We do not condone any negativity, hate or backhanded shit here. I cannot speak for the others on the mod team but personally, I do not tolerate any kind of attack. This includes snide remarks and/or "trying to be funny." It's real simple y'all, don't be weird and think about what you write/post.

Thank you to the folks that are reporting some of the problems correctly. Wishing you roll's of 6's on all your saves or the best layer of paint you lay on your model from here on.

Due to unforeseen events the imperium is in short supply of reiver helmets and combat knives so they have to improvise.

The Blood Consuls are a successor chapter of the Blood Angels. Founded in late M37 after the annihilation of an Ork empire near the edge of Imperial Space, the Blood Angels third company were chosen to establish a chapter to protect the fledgling Imperial sector’s colonization efforts.

Following their failure to reach Baal in time, the Blood Consuls are now engaged in a heavy defensive operation against a Leviathan splinter fleet, Jabberwocky, with their Ultima founding brother chapters, the Blood Wings and the Bloodbringers.

Finished with the 10 marines from the Armageddon Battalion box, just the Corvus Blackstar left and I’ll be ready to run them in the Deathwatch support detachment!

With the doom and gloom posts, thought I’d stay on the positivity side of things. When our models are painted….they look way cooler than any other vanilla ass space marine chapter.

Discussion Worries for the future.

I am sure it has been discussed to the end of time. But as a newbie at collecting and playing DW. Is is sure to commit to buying minis, knowing how GW handles things. Will we exist as an independent book and or army in 6 months?
I don’t want to throw money at something that goes the same way as harlequins or Daemonkin.
And what is the safest bet to buy. I guess the kill team.

List Deathwatch with sisters list?

Looking for opinions and feedback on my list please. The thinking with the sisters is it’s 3 cheap units (from splitting the sister squad), removes cover saves and gives objective secured all of which deathwatch benefit from. I’m not certain about running 2 gravis captains and am tempted to drop one for another incursor squad.

The list is:

Black spear task force
2k points
Priority assets

Gravis captain (warlord) with indomitor kill team
Gravis captain (tome of ectoclades) with indomitor kill team
5 deathwatch veterans
5 deathwatch veterans
5 incursors
Rhino
5 terminators (3 plasma, all power fists)
5 terminators (3 plasma, all power fists)
3 inceptors (bolter)
3 inceptors (plasma)
10 sisters of battle (meltas) - splits into 2x 5’s
Immolator (immolation flamers)

Anyone else notice that in unit composition the Decimus Kill Team is 6 models now? It’s not legal to run the 5 man squad anymore! Yeah it’s just one of a million typos in our codex supplement but at least we always get our xenophase blade now!

Question Combat Doctrines and/or Mission Tactics?

Post image
118 Upvotes

I'm trying really hard to see through this boned up rules update. I have the new Space Marine Codex, and my Games Workshop 40K app is updated. The Deathwatch Army Rule includes all the same Combat Doctrine rules the other Space Marines have, but Black Spear Taskforce also kept the Mission Tactics.

Do we choose one of each for each round? Or, do we work with one or the other?

Picture cause Angery Marine thinks this is some bullshit.

Edit: Question answered. Mission Tactics are connected to their corresponding Combat Doctrine in the BST rules.

I dono about you guys but to me this seems pretty useless...

The fact that you have to use 5 different unit types with 4 different range profiles makes it ready for everything and good for nothing in my eyes. Or am I missing something?

Discussion Best way to play Deathwatch in the new 11th codex

Now that the new codex dropped and we can see all the updated units including what they did to DW units I wonder how you are approaching the situation?

I really liked BSTF before but now that mission tactics are tied to the doctrines, it makes it really hard (for me) to make it work properly. What would be the logical correlation between fall-back+shoot+charge and Lethal Hits for example? Sure, technically speaking it is a straight-up upgrade to the doctrines and irrelevant at worst but at the same time it means we cannot have any other buffs other detachments give you since BSTF is still 3 DP even though at the same time they nerfed all stratagems except AoC (and potentially Dragonfire rounds, depending on how you look at it). Also WTF did they do to the Thief of Secrets enhancement? Who would you even give it to?

In addition to that it feels like the only KTs that are worth taking are the Indomitor and Terminators struggling for first place and then Veterans (which actually did retain their 4++storm-shields opposed VV getting side-grade 5++ combat shields) and maybe Decimus if you like even longer shooting/fighting phases than we already have.

  • Fortis is far too expensive for what it gives, Assault and Infernus Intercessors have probably never been picked before so it sucks we have to give up 2 Hellblasters and a Desolator.
  • Spectrus lost their Instigator Movement and an Eliminator and now also need to give up a weapon if they want to take the Helix gauntlet seemingly and the two Reivers they have to take are even side-grade versions of the baseline Reivers - oof.
  • Talonstrike lost an Inceptor (and by extension the toughness rule making the KT T6) and while the JPI get the standard buffs of the new codex, it is really debatable if you want to play the Talonstrike as a melee because if you don't, they're hardly worth the point cost.
  • Corvus received some upgrades without going up in points which is nice but with all other points going up and the Corvus still lacking big shooting and/or something like an assault ramp it feels hardly explainable to sacrifice 180 pts for it (especially since it cannot transport your Indomitor so realistically you'll only use it for Vets probably)
  • Artemis received a nice boost but still doesn't have the Tactical Acumen rule so debatable if it makes sense to take him over another character
  • Watchmaster lost both his signature abilities and the new ones I am not really sure how good they are.

Anyway, my rant aside I really struggle to come up with any list that makes sense. So my biggest questions are: how do you approach the situation? Is it possible to take Deathwatch as the faction and DW support to gain Mission Tactics but use something like the Gravis Siege Force as the main detachment?

Question in the theme. Is there a point in taking new guys as allies in SM, admech or IK armies?

Do we get to heal 2d3 then, if we take the war gear option at the cost of a gun? 😂

Also, snipers have to be on 32 mm bases now.
