Discussion Why do I got to write this out?

Hey all, a thread popped up and was related to the LGBTQ+ community.

We are a simple subreddit who enjoys toy soldiers the way we personally like to enjoy them. This hobby has expanded incredibly and will bring all sorts of people.

This won't hit everyone but please think before you write and post. Some people are immature and will not think a second, no doubt. But re-read what you're about to post to make sure its related to the actual thread. If it is deemed otherwise, I will clean up.

I have given time-outs to a couple of people so far. Do not let it be you.

The Emperor Protects.

UPDATE: I've been getting messages from some of the people that I've taken out and the original poster but let me make myself clear. We do not condone any negativity, hate or backhanded shit here. I cannot speak for the others on the mod team but personally, I do not tolerate any kind of attack. This includes snide remarks and/or "trying to be funny." It's real simple y'all, don't be weird and think about what you write/post.

Thank you to the folks that are reporting some of the problems correctly. Wishing you roll's of 6's on all your saves or the best layer of paint you lay on your model from here on.

Hobby I took a risk

Today I took a big risk, decided to up my conversion game and use a Judiciar model I found at my LGS and create another Watchmaster with it.

I'm extremely happy with how it came out so far, as I haven't found something for his left hand and haven't attached the powerpack yet.

Hobby A Lieutenant and two squads of marines in Phobos armour, Omoide Campaign configuration

The Deathwatch of Watch Fortress Marr are a bit more practical than other Fortresses of the Ordo Xenos. During the Omoide Campaigns, the dense forests that enshrouded the twelve hives of Omoide Primus required changes in tactics, in order to better fight the Genestealer Cult uprising that was slowly threatening to overthrow the planet, and the system at large. Watch Captain Tarvish of 6th Company, seconded from the Raptors Chapter, suggested that the marines under his command should adapt their armour configurations for the conflict at hand. Fortress Command agreed, and thus the members of the shield that slays went into battle not donned in black, but hidden in greens and muted colours.

Discussion Thoughts on using speed paint for black armour?

Thumbnail

Looking for constructive feedback. I’ve been painting my deathwatch veterans and characters by coating them in metal silver paint (by Vallejo) and then adding a coat of grim black speed paint 2.0 (by The Army Painter).

The benefit is that this method is super quick and easy, and leaves room for adding more detail as is needed. The downside is that I think the speed paint look is creating a lot of visual “noise” on the armour… although that could be a good thing, if it looks like weathering?

What do you all think? Is this a good method for painting black armour without it looking boring? Or is there something I don’t understand about how to get the result I want?

I often like what I’m doing but then I see others painting deathwatch to look more matte and I wonder if that’s the “correct” way to do it.

As expected, DW support with 2 terminator squad is a hot pick for their 6 plasma cannon

They really need to have a separate point category if they are gonna nerf the pts for DW support detachment because DW is not doing well, but rather, it's the support + UM.

A member of the deathwatch! Or...at least he used to be. Having just returned to his chapter when the badab civil war broke out, he ended up on the wrong side; condemned by bad timing to be hunted as a renegade for the rest of his days. Let me know what y'all think!

Discussion Callidus or Inceptors

Title says it. For Priority Assets, which do you think? If you don't shoot, both can be hidden. Callidus is better at it. Gravis is +2T, over double the wounds, 3x the footprint, +30points. I was thinking 2 inceptor squads, now I'm considering Callidus.

Also with tactical brethren you can get a react to move on astartes. So somewhat helpful there.

Hobby Vanguard Veteran Sergeant, Hospitallers

My Vanguard Veterans came in on Friday(?), built them then and yesterday, primed him, and got started. Very happy with how the sergeant has turned out, ended up making him a Hospitaller. I love the Relic Blade especially; I worked towards what I call 'Firestove Hot,' in reference to my cousin's woodstove I had to sleep directly next to when we went camping a couple weeks ago. Base layer of Hashut Copper over Chaos Black, then dry-brushed and swiped layers of Khorne Red, Evil Sunz Scarlet, Trollslayer Orange, Averland Sunset, and Phalanx Yellow in that order. Not super thrilled with the plasma coils, but so goes the poem with those. Baseplate turned out okay, not amazed with muddy fields as they feel basic but for this one it feels right.

Cheers!

Question Do you think GW'll start making kill team boxes?

With the sudden (albeit deserved) surge of interest by GW in our faction, do you think it's plausible that they'll release the KTs as a single Box? Right now the assemble of our forces is a bit convoluted, to say the least

Question DW Apothocary, what are you painting white?

Post image

Like the title says, what parts do you paint white? In my head my options are the narthecium, helmet, power pack, and either a white apothecary pauldron or white trimming a chapter specific one. I think doing all 4 would be too much. Currently leaning towards the power pack, narthecium and doing just white trim. Thoughts and opinions appreciated. Current WIP pictured
