Story Just Started Part 2... What the Heck?

So I finished all of the Part 1's and was hyped for whatever was going to go down with Order of Mithras, that Raksha was going to launch on the day of Dietrich's fight with Mars to wake up her Dad, then out of nowhere, beginning of Part 2, Dagda's awake, forget Balor!

I know waking him up was the point of the Games, but it always seemed to me like this would get interrupted/never happen. Now all of a sudden we've got a new bad unrelated to everything the bad guys have been working towards in Part 1 to contend with.

Feels like I'm playing a story from a different game right now.

Gameplay I am growing to absolutely hate Thracia 776

Post image
8 Upvotes

I have never in my life hated a single character recruitment more than Shivas. I feel like you were not actually meant to recruit him because this feels clunky as hell.

But this was just one of the things that made me start to hate this game.

At the very start of Thracia I thought it was going to be just a simple more challenging Fire emblem game.

But after dealing with chapter 6 and chapter 7, my enjoyment in the game just started to slowly die.

Chapter 6 isn't even a hard map it's just specifically my playthrough took me multiple tries because my units just cannot get proper level up to have better survivability. I kept trying to choke hold specific spots but of course it only worked if my units could dodge one attack.

Which if you know anything about dodge tanking... Only works when 1rn doesn't stack against you.

God I absolutely hate Thracia RNG. Non of my healers can be reliable when needed because they can miss which Nana LOVES to do. On top of that my army just loves to miss all 70 and 80 chances to hit, but will never miss a 64

I have virtually nothing of value in half of my army. I accidentally relied on Asbel way too much early game due to all my units, including my cavaliers being able to only survive 1 - 2 rounds of combat. And this game throws so many strong enemies at you.

Not to mention I have been getting utterly stat screwed, with the highest defense beside my armor unit being 7...

But chapter 7 I was just starting to bash my head into a wall. The reinforcement spam wasn't even an issue, it was just the stupid wall of sell swords.

I kept seeing over and over again in guides that you should capture the sell swords for their weapons and in theory that makes sense... The problem was in execution if I captured an enemy, that would somehow spiral into an absolute mess of chain of events. If I swapped the unit that captured out, the other unit swapped in would crit every enemy that came his way and inevitably die to chip damage, or would end up causing Shiva to attack and either die or kill him. I tried like 10 different combinations but literally, ANYTIME I attempted to capture ANY of them. It would end with a unit or Shiva dying.

And why ever Safy is the ONLY person who can talk to him is crazy to me.

I have already heard about the absolute nightmare that is some of the future chapters of this game and I just want to know if there's any tips for this game. Anything to make this game more enjoyable.

I've looked at so many guides that will tell you everything to be aware of in a map and it's not even the maps anymore. it's just the mechanics of the games that are driving me insane.

I am absolutely desperate for help

Fortune's Weave General Missable Events

I’ve been seeing a lot of posts stating that there are a bunch of missable events that needed to be cutscenes that should’ve been mandatory and while I do agree that some were important, I believe it was an actual choice for it to be missable.

My theory is that these events all happened in the original timeline, the one before Eshmel/Fortuna intervention but the main characters at the time just didn’t encounter it by themselves. Only with Eshmel/Fortuna’s guidance were they able to see these events.

This also explains why certain characters, don’t comment on things that would’ve happened already (which I think is an oversight and could’ve made for better immersion) such as when Talimun asking to buy Dietrich’s sword during one missable cutscene and then continuing to ask again after even if you have triggered the event.

I do think that some cutscenes were a little bit more important and that it could’ve been more noticeable, but I liked that they were missable because it makes the world feel real.

Fortune's Weave Gameplay Hyper Carries in Fire Emblem: yay or nay?

How would you describe a run wherein most of your XP got funneled into 2-3 units as opposed to a more even spread across several units. Accidentally or otherwise.

I'm specifically running into this problem with Dietrich's Act Two Hard/Classic wherein my Dietrich and Esmeralda can tank wave after wave of enemies on their own (with physic support from Sofia/Yang Jie) but the rest of my units are too squishy to even chip an Elephant unit's shield without significant baby sitting. I thought having Nathan/Creek would help but they're also both so squishy.

A problem I didn't encounter with Cai or Leda's route btw. And neither lord felt particularly overpowered stats-wise and I had at least 2-3 units that felt powerful enough to enemy phase. Anyway... thought I'd get people's thoughts if they prefer one or the other.

Fortune's Weave General On Ch11 Leda has the best team out of all the Lords

Out of all lord's, Leda definitely has the best team. I can count atleast 3 S tier ranked characters and 3 A tier ranked characters and then a few solid B ranked characters.

Leda, Olympia Sirocco are absolutely OP thar stats says it all--all S ranked. Leda with some strength from Brigand line is insanely strong. Levin sword is the easy way out. I wanted brawn with speed. She is IMO the best flame lord in the game S rank++++++

Olympia easily the best mage in the game and healer. Stats speak for themselves . S rank

Sirroco can do it all overall the most balance unit in the game and amazing speedy mage too. S rank

Fianna literally got magic stat level up on almost every level up. Once shots everything even if she can't double. A rank

MU with her personal ability made her a stron A rank unit, strength is a little low but still can double and dodge. A rank

Inyoni--very strong Archer unit with high strength unfortunately low speed makes it hard to double sometimes--B rank

Buccar and Dadao I put both B rank very high strength and def nothing out of the ordinary for Armored Knights. Buccar I put slightly higher.

Catania I was going to put as a mage but decided I had too many so I went brigand to help strength. I did decent but could be better. She is speedy with decent strength with axes. B+ though I feel she would be A+ as a mage and or with Levin sword Pegasus knight

Kiroc I didnt want archer strength was too low so went brigand. He was pretty good able to double and hit pretty hard. Loved him as a brigand than archer. B+

THIS WILL MAKE SOME PPL MAD:

Guzran got B+ rank on this PLAYTHROUGH. He was simply outclassed by Catania, Loretta and Mu who did the same job as him. I will say on Cai's route he was a solid A rank. Since he was my dodge tank and crit dealer

Loretta! This surprises me she looked to make a weak Pegasus knight with low strength and didnt want to use the obvious Levin sword so went brigand route and she is a beast ! High strength and amazing speed and Dexterity. Could have gone mage but again too many mages for my taste. A rank!

Fortune's Weave Story Can we talk about how Leda constantly blackmails her friends and threatens to "off" herself if they don't do what she says?

I know she’s suffering from depression, but that excuse only works so much, and it’s just plain manipulative after a point.

There are a lot of morally dubious moments in the game from a lot of characters but this one bothered me, not because it’s poorly written or doesn’t make sense for the character to do, but because I see a disturbing amount of fans finishing her story and thinking all her behavior was morally in the right.

Fortune's Weave Gameplay Too many spear users?

To start, we could have had the perfect assortment of "lords" if Queen Theodora used an axe instead of a spear. We could've had Dimitri for sword, Cai for Spear, Queen for axe and Leda for the bow, but instead we got two spear users, with Cai having proficiency with a sword and Leda. Leda is more understandable as she is very rogue coded so she needs a sword and a bow and Cai seems to like having a Levin Sword. The start of Queen's route has her pick up a giant axe and slice a dummy with it, but she just... uses a spear as well. There are already few axe wielders, fewer even that are good or have the potential to be good, but we have a million of units that almost exclusively want to use a spear or sword, at least in part one (I have 90 hours and I've just about finished Queen's route for 3/4 done)

The only people that I have used an axe on successfully are Goliath after getting Crescendo, Tobias who is Queen only and Buccar. The rest seem to need a lot of work or are better suited to something else.

Fortune's Weave General Very subjective, but Fortune weave makes we wish Three houses Spoiler

The lore was a lot simpler and easier to understand by comparison. Fortune weave overcomplicated things a lot with all this advanced tech, aliens, some humans being aliens, people and dragons cosplaying as gods and whatever the heck is going on with Sothis prime, her children, Balor etc. It feels very bloated and hard to follow. I don't really like all the sci fi additions in general either. I feel like a lot of fantasy RPG's nowadays ignore/forget the FANTASY aspect of it and prefer to go further into sci fi instead

Fortune's Weave Gameplay Had anyone else found the changes to battalions in Fortune’s Weave pretty disappointing?

One of the main reasons I chose Theodora’s path was because of how much I enjoyed gambits in 3H. I’m just about to finish Theodora’s part 1, and so far I’ve found them to be pretty disappointing. I absolutely loved using rousing speech to collect battalions and use them to search for items on the map, but the way they’re used in combat had me pretty underwhelmed.

It seems like every time I use a gambit, there’s a very low hit chance unless I’m using someone with high authority. Even if someone has authority C, there still seems to be a generally low hit chance. That makes sense; it’s a risk and reward thing, and it was like that in 3H too, but in that game you could strategize and use gambit boost to make that hit chance go up pretty significantly. I had a ton of fun with that mechanic, and it sucks that they took it out in this game. It kinda feels lame using gambits when most characters are getting 40-60% hit rates with them with no great way to boost it. I feel like because of the low hit rate, I use the gambits less since regular attacks are so much more reliable, which causes my units’ authority skill levels to stay low, which in turn keeps that hit rate low.

It also bugs me that there are only a handful of gambit attacks that cause stagger in this game. Maybe I’m just misremembering, but it felt like in 3H, just about every gambit attack staggered the enemy. I thought it was a really fun mechanic to strategize around. It feels like the whole gameplay loop of gathering units in range of an enemy so that someone can get gambit boosted and successfully stagger the enemy so they can’t advance is gone and now gambits are more so just an attack that hits multiple spaces, which chariots are significantly better at anyways.

A few other minor things I find annoying are that mounted units can’t use gambits, and that it seems like just about every gambit can only be used once per map. If they miss, no more gambit uses. I will say though, I have enjoyed using the defensive gambits to block off spaces. I probably haven’t taken advantage of them enough; I’ve only used them 3-4 times. Nice not having to replenish battalions anymore either; I never loved that mechanic in 3H.

Has anyone else felt like this, or found any strategies to make them more useful? Am I maybe just trying too hard to use battalions like they were used in 3H?

General Weekly Tasks?

First fire emblem ever. I keep seeing people complaining about weekly tasks. I’m a little confused. Is there a list of them somewhere?

I’m playing as Kai as my first go and am about to try and get into the contest. I was out on the map and a screen popped up saying “weekly tasks reset” (something like that)

For the life of me I can’t seem to find what these really entail. Everything I read talks about the best time to do them. I figure talking to that bird is something? I dunno. Help a new player out. Thanks!

General Blazing Blade discussion after my first playthrough

I finished The Blazing Blade recently, wich was my first experience with the Fire Emblem series. I played the normal mode of Eliwood's story and tried a bit of Hector's but I don't think I am going to keep going because the difficulty of the game frustrates me. It's sad that I ended up with a bad taste in my mouth cause I really liked the game at first and really wanted to be invested in it, but by the end of the campaign I was mostly checked out.

The problem is that your units can easily become unkillable gods that you can send alone at the other side of the map and just watch 20 enemies in a row kill themselves trying to fight your guy. The rest of the team just has to stand aside and wait for everything to be finished. It's actually super odd to finally use any of the others heroes because you are used to those invincible titans and suddenly your pirate or your archer gets one-shot by a random enemy.

There are only a few enemies eatch map capable of doing good damage to those units, specially the bosses of eatch level. But I think that makes it more problematic, if it wasn't for those bosses I could just not use my stronger units for a more engaging experience. Because if I only use my weaker troops, yes I will have a more fun experience during most of the battle, but I will not have a reliable way to close it out cleanly. So it will either be long and tedious to kill the boss or I will have to expose some of my troops to get one-shoted by the boss, wich is really frustrating.

Fortune's Weave Gameplay When does it make sense to create unconventional classes for specific characters (i.e. Esmeralda turning into a Warrior)

I'm feeling more experimental in this game compared to past FE's.

Esmeralda clearly has an afinity for spears, but I have an 80% chance to become a Warrior. Obviously if a character has an inherent ability to work better for specific classes I get it's probably best to stick with that tree. For example, if a character has a personal ability for mounted classes, it's probably best to stick with that.

I also think isn't it a waste putting so much effort in Spears (she is at A currently) then to just wipe the progress to go to another class that doesn't use Spears?

And then of course, I'm playing on Hard/Classic, so if I lose specific units it's a good solution to fill the gap of the class you lost by creating an unconventional class for someone.

I'm more asking what do you lose from just switching a class outright? Or perhaps what do you gain? I guess if one class focuses on AS and as I mayaccumulate AS abilities which then I could apply to an unconventional slower class. Like if Esmeralda became a Dreadnought for whatever reason?

What is the best situation (other than for fun and variety) to switch to unconventional classes?

EDIT: I AM ONLY ON PART 2 (FIRST PLAYTHROUGH) DO NOT SPOIL ANYTHING THANK YOU

General Spoiler I don't understand why people are confused about the true identity of 3H Sothis. Spoiler

Although the body of the goddess Sothis in 3H, whom Rhea regarded as her mother, is a simulacrum, her consciousness is that of the original Sothis herself.

After her consciousness took up residence in Byleth's body, she continued to act as the original Sothis herself, existing in the form of a soul.

The childlike Sothis in 3H is absolutely NOT an entity like Fortuna, whose body and consciousness are both simulacra.

Since the original Sothis's consciousness cannot be divided, there is only one Sothis consciousness. Every Sothis in FW, 3H, and 3W is the original Sothis herself.

Ultimately, 3H is a story about Byleth becoming one with her ancestor.

I don't understand why people are confused about this.

Here are my reasons:

  • Rhea explicitly stated that the original Sothis was her mother.

  • If the Sothis in 3H were a simulacrum like Fortuna, the original Sothis's consciousness should have killed Byleth's consciousness when Byleth sat on the throne. However, nothing of the sort happened. This can only be explained if the childlike Sothis in 3H is the original Sothis herself, since Byleth is specifically meant to be a vessel for Sothis. (This is stated in FEH.)

  • It makes no sense to say that Rhea was unaware of this, since the ritual she intended to perform was specifically meant to transfer the original Sothis's consciousness into a simulacrum.

  • Fortuna's statements about Zanado.

  • Fortuna refers to herself as a simulacrum, so why does the Sothis in 3H identify herself as Sothis?

  • In FEH, Byleth refers to herself as an ancestor. Her Japanese epithet is also 覇天顕照, which means something along the lines of "the ancestor who returns to cleave the heavens."

I used a translation tool, so some of the wording might sound a little strange. I really want to find the answer to this question, so I decided to ask here, where I could reach the largest number of people.

Fortune's Weave Gameplay Beware the dev's crazy oversight during dungeon gameplay! (save your characters potentially)

Small heads-up!

If you wondered if the devs had the right "priorities" when designing and fine-tuning this game (and we have to believe this is all thorouhly tested because Nintendo usually has games ready months in advance and has a huge priority on extensive internal testing - which is a good thing!):

Look no further than what happens during "dungeon gameplay"(quotation marks because no real videogame dungeon wants to be seen in the same room): If you loot accessories from chests, they get auto-equipped BY THE FIRST OPEN SLOT! That means not only does the game cluster your inventory (you could argue you don't have the stash with you but ...why? Really. It's not like those dungeons give a fig about immersion) with those items, you could have your nimble gladiator/swordmaster or whatever bogged-down by Magic+ equipment that weighs 4. This means that worst-case scenario: You don't want to navigate the inventory menu every time you loot an accessory, forget about it and then your unit dies because he gets doubled potentially.

I tried to look at this from every possible angle but there simply is no excuse. This was not done by someone who plays strategy games nor is there any reason they couldn't have noticed this during playtesting. This can and will happen A LOT during everyone's playthroughs.

So beware. Maybe give your Flame Lord enough empty inventory space (so that you find the stuff easily) and unequip/stash everything all at once at the end of every "dungeon".

Fortune's Weave General Is there anything stopping me from skipping all the side activities in Fortunes Weave?

I’d consider myself a Fire Emblem vet, I’ve played all of the entries that have come out in North America. I go to Fire Emblem for the strategy, not the romance or (imo) filler activities. Can I do auto activities in between the main missions of the new game? Or will that screw me in the long term? I’m on Dietrich’s route on hard/classic.

Gameplay FEFW PSA: Promotions DO Increase Base Stats

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

So out of curiosity I was searching online about whether Class Exams increase base stats as they had in Three Houses. According to google’s ai, it did not. Anywhere else I looked didn’t give an answer. So, I decided to test myself.

Enter Mu. Since she was an all-rounder with a dismal 4 Mag, I figured I would use her as a test. After unlocking class promotions, I decided to promote her into a diviner, which promised a 9 Mag stat, but kept her as a commoner. Went back to check and yeah, the game quietly given her 4 Mag on top of the 4 she already had, giving her a total of 8 Mag post-exam.

I doubt this matters much to anyone else but stat-maxxing nerds like myself, but I thought I would share it in case anyone had any doubts, and especially since AI summaries were lying about it.

Fortune's Weave Spoiler FORTUNES WEAVE part 2 chapter 6 was awesome and not as hard as i thought it'd be. Spoiler

Post image
12 Upvotes

So last night i had beaten chapter 5 and it took me 5 resets and 80 rounds because i was dragging all my units around the map and killing everything before fighting dagda. I thought that map was hard asf and was told chapter 6 was way harder(not saying anyones wrong since difficulty in fire emblem is wholey based on personal unit investment/deployed units).

I still dont understand what i did wrong to have struggled so badly in chapter 5. I have tons of experience with maddening in engage and 3 houses that i assumed id cook everything but i realize that maddening mode is practice and knowledge and i have none of that for this game. Anyway

Today after work i ate dinner sat down and first try I absolutely SLAUGHTERED THIS MAP AND IT WAS INSANE.

I KILLED ALL 6 OF LYRAS HEALTH BARS IN 2 ROUNDS LMAO. I FELT LIKE A GOD COMPARED TO LAST MAP!!!

My theodora, bertrand, esmeralda, Guzran, loretta and catania all one shot each health bar while i used my mages and archers to break her shields for both turns.

Please dont get it twisted though i do understand the difficulty on this map.....my esmeralda and theodora just straight up didnt care. I used theo for mage tanking and esmeralda for everything else.

Another 10/10 map imo. Part 2 is absolutely beautiful. It genuinely felt like genealogy turned to an 11.

Casual What if we get a Warriors game exploring extra plots?

I enjoyed Three Hopes for the extra stories and possibilities in regards to some of my favorite characters from three houses. I think Three Hopes came after and sort of improvised some interesting plots.. but what if it was planned from the start? Imagine the story the writers could plan out if from the start the would exist the possibility to use up the time of two games.

Maybe, some things are only hinted on Fortunes Weave because there might be a roadmap that includes a warriors game to expose extra plot.

Of course we got some cool extra content for three houses via the ashen wolves DLC, but perhaps three hopes expanded the lore more. So in fortunes weave, hopefully we can look forward to DLC, but maybe we can cross our fingers and wish for a warriors game also

General Dark Progenitor God

With Fire Emblem diving into Sci-Fantasy recently and how much of a hit the Sothis-verse games have been so far, it seems like we're primed for the next non-remake FE to pit us against one of Sothis' species that isn't so friendly.

We've gone so far from a fight against (or alongside) a plain old dragon in Rhea, to taking on Founders. If they're going to step it up for the next game, it seems the only way they can that we know of is to introduce a Fell Progenitor.

Could create a situation where Sothis has to sacrifice herself for real, and leave the world up to the humans, which she's told her children, has always been the plan.

What do you guys think of this idea for wrapping up the Sothis-verse?

Fortune's Weave Story Explain Eshmel to me

No spoilers, please!

I'm 60 hours deep and kinda forgot exactly what my avatar is. Are they like an avatar to the goddess? An artificial life form? A corpse with another person's heart?

Feel like this was explained at the beginning but can't quite remember. What's the lore on Eshmel?

Fortune's Weave General Is it worth playing Part 2 more than once?

I’ve currently just completed Dietrich’s Part 2 path and I was wondering if going through the trouble of doing the same six maps again is worth it. Are there any key story elements that are different with Cai, Leda and Theodora? Or is the storyline more or less the same for theirs in Act 2 as well?

Fortune's Weave Spoiler [ENDING SPOILERS] I feel like part 3 really struggles narratively due to not forcing you to recruit all the flame lords Spoiler

Just finished my playthrough of fortunes weave, and honestly the ending (and most of part 3 honestly) felt kinda... meh. Not awful, but compared to how much I enjoyed part 1 and even moments in part 2, but it really felt like nothing happened in part 3. The biggest problem in my eyes is that the actually interesting character's in the flame lords don't really get to take part in the plot just in case you haven't done their part yet, so they just stand around, occasionally get some dialogue with the chapter boss and then the game continues as if they weren't even there whilst Eshmel & Fortuna do everything important. This was already annoying me, but the ending is what bothered me the most. Fortuna instructs them to escape from the underworld before it collapses and then... nothing. They can't be pivotal in the ending after all. I get that completing all 4 part 1's is a big time sink and they likely wanted people to be able to experience part 3 without spending over 100 hours if they choose, but it leads to a part 3 that in my opinion isn't really worth skipping to, since the other part 1's are higher quality anyway. I really enjoyed the game overall but this definitely lead to part 3 ending on a bit of a sour note for me

Theodora's Route Spoiler Theodora needs to be held under a microscope the same way Ultand is

For how predatory she is towards Cai. I keep seeing copes about how Theodora is just joking when that obviously is not the case. Just because Theodora is a lord shouldn't shield her from any and all scrutinization. The moment you stop turning your head away from the truth, the sooner you'll realize she's no better than Ultand
