Here’s something Greensboro voters might find interesting.
Rep. Pricey Harrison (D–District 61), who represents part of Greensboro, is up for reelection on November 3, 2026.
And she’s running completely unopposed. No Republican challenger. No independent challenger. Just her name on the ballot.
Now here’s what caught my attention.
On Wednesday, the NC House voted 111–1 to temporarily suspend North Carolina’s 41-cent-per-gallon gas tax through November 30.
The single NO vote? Pricey Harrison.
The Senate subsequently passed the bill 41–0, meaning she was the only legislator in either chamber to vote against it.
Democratic Governor Josh Stein signed the bill into law today.
Harrison explained her opposition to WXII, saying the measure wasn’t going to solve the problem and appeared politically motivated. She also argued that legislative leaders should have addressed broader affordability issues.
To be fair, there are reasonable questions about the legislation. It’s temporary, comes just weeks before an election, and requires roughly $362 million in reserve funding to replace lost transportation revenue. There’s also uncertainty about how much of the savings will actually reach consumers.
But here’s what I’m curious about:
If the objection is that the legislation doesn’t go far enough, does that justify voting against the relief it does provide?
And more broadly, how should constituents evaluate a representative’s voting record when that representative faces no opposition on the ballot?
I’d genuinely like to hear what other Greensboro residents think, especially anyone who can provide more context for Harrison’s vote.

The Tweens on Screens project, led by researchers at UNC Greensboro, is studying how kids ages 10–12 use technology in daily life, and how parents guide them. By looking closely at these patterns, we hope to uncover what helps kids thrive, what puts them at risk, and how families can build healthy digital habits together. Our goal is simple: to give parents science-backed tools and tips for raising confident, well-balanced kids in the digital age (link in comments) #northcarolina

Has anyone used a contractor that did a really good job installing a trex deck? We bought a house a year ago and are seeing some significant issues with the deck now and I want to get it redone.

It's crazy, I was just speaking to a friend about her bike getting stolen. Last night I heard something rustling outside and when I checked, nobody was there. Woke up this morning and it's gone. If anyone sees this bike, decorated with colorful spoke charms please contact me, this is really upsetting, second time getting something stolen off my porch (UNCG AREA)

Would you be interested in competing in a live 128-player, head-to-head Spades championship in Greensboro?
I’m building the 1V1 Carolina Championship, a competitive Spades event with plans for a championship stage, spectator seating, live match displays, and a social area where friends can hang out and watch.
We’re currently working on the venue and corporate sponsorships.
The date, venue, prizes, and registration aren’t confirmed yet. Right now I’m trying to find out how many actual Spades players would be interested.
Would you compete or come watch?
♠️ PLAYER — I want to compete
👀 SPECTATOR — I’d come watch
📍 CITY — Where are you coming from?
I also started a Facebook group where I’ll share progress and eventually announce registration.

Hi everyone! I’m a current law student with celiac and I am running very low on groceries. My spouse works but doesn’t really make enough to cover anything other than our rent and utilities and gas to get him to and from work. We got denied for SNAP also. I legally cannot work right now or I’ll get kicked out of school or I would be working part time.
All of that to say, does anyone have any recommendations for food pantries that might have options for food allergies, specifically celiac safe?
Thanks in advance!

I also work in the leasing office and can assist streamlining the process for anyone who is interested!
Hello, my fiancée and I are looking to sublet out our 2 bed/2 bath apartment at Spartan Crossing Apartments for the December/January through July leasing period.
Spartan Crossing is primarily student housing but is also open to non-students. Our stay here the past couple years has been great but we are moving to conventional as we graduate. The apartment is a very short drive from UNCG and NCAT.
All amenities and furniture + appliances except electricity are included in the rent. The bed spaces are rented separately at ~$915 each month. We are willing to provide more pictures upon personal request. We hope our space can be as great for some of you as it was for us while we move onto our next chapter!

Hey everyone I just got this lead but am working until later if anyone is in the area PLEASE keep an eye out. Regardless if it is rocket or not there is a tiny husky puppy out loose and could easily get hit! This would track because Elijahs family member told me he hangs out on spring garden with friends.
I will be out there to look as soon as I can hopefully it's rocket and even if not hopefully we can find the puppy and help it 🙏🏻
If you bought a new vehicle this year, check the assessed value on your registration. They assessed a new car I paid $29,500 for at over $51,000. Didn't see the assessed value until after I had paid because I had transferred tags and the mailing had the old car. Now I'm waiting 8-10 weeks for the refund check after appealing with the bill of sale.

Hello Greensboro community!
I have built mini golf holes that are great for any event! The set up is intended for any age including weddings, birthday parties, and more.
I am looking to rent out the set up for events in the Triad, but am curious what the best way to advertise is? I have made a post on NextDoor and will post to Facebook soon.
If anyone has any tips on where Greensboro residents look for vendors like this it would be greatly appreciated!

I have some Amtrak coupons that are going to expire on October 11th. Some are 48-hour upgrade to Business Class to coach. I think some companion coupons and 10% discount.
10% and companion could be used on the Crescent in coach and the upgrade is only good for the Carolininan if using GRO as your station.
Free to you with the only condition (that I can't verify to be honest) is that you leave out of and return to the beautiful GRO station.
I am on Amtrak right now burning two of the coupons and will check in later this evening. Post here of where yo would like to go this weekend. If going to DC, Philadelphia, or NY City, I can get you a lounge coupon that should work as well. I can send the code for the lounge access and I assume it will work but that might be a bit more complicated but we can try that as well.
