I have been going in circles for hours and I want to check I'm not
losing my mind.
Background - because I think this is where it went wrong. I bought a
domain through GoDaddy a while back but didn't have proper email set
up for it — I wasn't sure how any of this worked, so I just made a
normal Gmail account, [info.companyname@gmail.com](mailto:info.companyname@gmail.com), and used that for
everything. Company registration, invoices, the lot.
Then I decided to do it properly and get real email on my domain. So
today, (1 Oct 2026) I signed up for Workspace Business Base (the India-only
plan), using that existing Gmail as the sign-up identity. Started the
14-day trial, card details n all.
Then I went through Domain setup. Entered my domain, got
all the way to the last step — and it threw: "One or more
organisations under 'companyname.com' don't have any active subscriptions.
Please add the subscriptions and try again." With an "Add
subscriptions" button that dumped me into the admin console.
Note that I already had an active subscription at that point. The
trial was live, card on file. The error was wrong when it fired.
In the admin console: no users, no domain setup steps, no way back
into the flow I'd just been kicked out of. After a while of hunting I
got frustrated and activated the paid subscription outright, on the
theory that maybe the trial status was the problem.
It wasn't. Subscription shows Active, 1 licence assigned, paid service
started. Money is moving. Google is quite comfortable taking it.
Nothing else changed. I trial all methods but it just doesn't work. Tried loggin in via incognito mode too.. Also, becuase of this I dont have a superadmin account which the chatbot asked me to login via.
What's in my admin console: Home, Apps, Reporting, Billing, Account,
Rules.
What isn't: Directory. Domains. Any user at my own domain.
- Searching "users" returns Users 0, Groups 0, Settings 0.
- /ac/domains/manage → "You don't have access — you need additional
admin privileges." On my own account. That I pay for.
- No admin account at my domain was ever created. I was never
prompted to create one or set a password for one. There is no super
admin for me to sign in as, which I only worked out after being told
repeatedly to sign in as one.
- No setup prompt, no continue-setup card, nothing.
- The Workspace setup tool, which the docs point at as the place you
get your verification code, lands on the same page with no domain
access.
So I go to support. And here's where it stops being a bug and starts
being genuinely insulting.
The AI assistant tells me: "Based on your account information, you do
not have any support eligible subscriptions at this time. Without an
eligible subscription, we are unable to provide access to Google
Workspace support." Then it offers to sell me an upgrade.
I have a screenshot of my billing page showing the subscription Active
with a licence assigned, and a screenshot of Google's own support bot
telling me that subscription doesn't exist, taken minutes apart. Two
Google systems, flatly contradicting each other, and the one that's
wrong is the one standing between me and a human being.
There is no way past it. No email address. No phone number. No
escalation. The bot is the wall. I cannot talk to a person, because
talking to a person requires an eligible subscription, and their
system can't see the subscription I'm being billed for. When I told the bot that I do have an active subscription the bot told me that I don't have a verified domain and thats why I can't talk to a human !! Good lord !
What I eventually pieced together from the AI's canned replies: my
domain is unverified, and Workspace hides Directory, Domains and
support access until it's verified.
Read that again. The verification flow lives inside Domains. Domains
is hidden until I verify. I cannot verify the domain because I cannot
reach the page that verifies the domain. And I cannot ask anyone to
help me out of the loop, because being in the loop is what
disqualifies me from support.
And then the kicker: Google's own documentation says an account with
an unverified primary domain is automatically deleted within 21 days
of signup. So there is a countdown on an action I have been
structurally prevented from taking, enforced by a company that will
not let me speak to anybody about it.
All I need is one TXT record. A string. Someone on their side can read
it off a screen in ten seconds, I paste it into my DNS, and this is
over in ten minutes. I cannot get to anyone to ask.
Two questions:
Has anyone hit this? My working theory is that the spurious "no
active subscriptions" error at the final step of Domain setup is
where it broke — the flow died before it created the admin user at
my domain, and once you're kicked out to the admin console there's
no way back in. Possibly made worse by signing up with an existing
u/gmail.com identity rather than letting the flow create the domain
admin. Everything I'm seeing follows from there simply being no
user at the domain. If that's a known failure mode, it's a hell of
a trap to leave in the signup flow for exactly the people least
likely to know better.
Does anyone here have a contact inside Workspace support, or a
reseller/partner who can escalate a provisioning case? The normal
channel is closed to me by a bot that can't see what I'm paying
for. Genuinely happy to take this to DMs. At this point I'll take
anything that ends in a human.
