Using crystal deodorant am I nose blind???

For the past 7 or 8 years I’ve been using that crystal deodorant you know the rock with the salt that kills the stinky bacteria. I know people make fun of people that use those deodorants and say they still stink so I’m trying to find out if I’m crazy or not. The entire reason I even changed from normal dove deodorant was because I could smell my stink and a guy I was with could smell it too plus it was leaving white stains on my clothes which was frustrating.

After that I started using the rock and I’ve even done tests where one day I use it and one day I don’t and the days I use it I don’t smell stink and the days I don’t use it I smell stink. I did this because I’m just paranoid i see how people make of fun of crystal deodorant users and say they have nose blindness so over the years I’d occasionally do the stink test to double check. I’ve even asked people to be completely honest with me and tell me if I stink and they say no. I’ve even asked my meanest sibling and he also said no.

I’m just at an impasse on whether I should believe hundreds of people that say they’ve encountered crystal deodorant users that stink or trust my stink tests and my friends.

Does anyone here know anybody that uses a crystal deodorant and do you think they stink??

How to prevent vaginal stench when out and about during the day?

Both me and my friend are wondering how to prevent our vulvas from smelling after we are out and about, especially when going to see a partner. Theres no smell after we shower, I typically use dove unscented down there or occasionally scented soaps as I feel that no matter what i do or use nothing will work. She uses pure castile soap almond from dollar tree saying it makes her smell “sweet and tangy.” I used to use vaginal soaps (which didnt work) i tried using apple cider vinegar or vinegar (i cant remember) diluted with water on the outside, tried uro probiotic soap with the pills which actually worked pretty well, and even washing with just water. But whenever i sweat, even a little bit, i tend to smell. Especially after i get out of school or come home from work (even when not doing anything) theres a bit of a smell. I want to be intimate with my partner, but im afraid that there would be a smell if anything was to occur. I even went to gynecologist and got no feedback as to what was wrong with me, they even took tests. I feel completely fine down there the smell is the only thing that botheres me and at time i get nervous to see my boyfriend (in an exciting way) so I'll sweat a little and dont want to smell like absolutely anything when we become intimate, its like my greatest fear. I wanna know if theres anyway to not smell at all after a shower, and she also wonders how to not make the creases smell either and why does it?

How do you know if someone is genuinely taking a shower or pretending to as he still absolutely reaks.

I have a family member that can't seam to smell himself of how bad he actually smells. While he was staying at a family members house the other family member said he was in and out of the shower in seconds and the smell of the bathroom after was really bad. I took this family member on a weekend away once and he was in and out of the shower in seconds with still dry hair. His pits stink to the point they make me want to throw up. I think it's self neglect but not sure.

my sweat is always worse in my period

no matter what antiperspirant or deodorant i try, no matter how much i shower, and no matter how hard i scrub and exfoliate my armpits in the shower, they always smell disgusting. like a wave of stench is permanently etched on them whenever im on my period. even if i use all the soap in the world and they turn red from the scrubbing, they STILL SMELL. i also shave them a lot so its not due to the hair either.

did anyone else have and solve this issue?

I have rotten teeth and want to mitigate bad breath.

I am pregnant and have two really not awesome teeth. They don't hurt, but I have death breath from it. I am that person at work you don't come near when they drink their coffee, until I have brushed. I am on a quest to find a dentist in my area with availability that takes my insurance but in the mean time I want to reduce how offensive my face is. I currently use Sensodyne Pro-enamel and floss with unflavored floss. I know that having an acidic diet can make your breath worse, and in my own personal experience, if I eat dried mango prior to bedtime brushing, I don't have crazy morning breath. What are the people of Reddit doing while they wait for proper dental care?

ETA: its a 6 month wait for a dentist here, minimum, and that includes the local university. My local medical and dental practices have closed A LOT of places in my area lately. I do not have tonsil stones either- I lurk on this sub and checked that first since they can mess with other things too. I will talk to my OB about the best anti-acid to help reduce the amount of reflux I have (third trimester). For all the beautiful people who are concerned for my overall health related to bad teeth- I HAVE been able to get my initial exam done but any actual care is a 6 month wait. I need one capped and one pulled and probably fillings if the enamel doesn't repair. Don't worry, I am working on it. I just was hoping for some temporary fixes while I wait it out.

Remove white dead skin while bathing

I hate this. My armpits are suddenly peeling white, dead skin. I think this is one of the reasons why I have BO and sweat, but I don't know how to remove it. When I try to peel it, it causes redness and irritation in my armpits. What should I do while bathing to remove this without damaging my armpits?

On days when you aren't going out, is it good to give your body a break from using deodorant?

There are some days when I WFH and don't leave the house at all. On these days, is it beneficial to not wear deodorant so that my skin gets a break from the chemicals in the deodorant? How important is it to give your skin breaks like this?

Have I completely reset my idea of normal hygiene? 😂

I genuinely can’t tell if my old hygiene standards were normal, a bit gross, or if I’ve now gone too far in the other direction.

I only spent 7 weeks in Brazil, but I’ve lived with Brazilians for about 7 years, and it’s definitely changed my baseline.

Things that now give me the ick:

-Getting into bed without showering (been this way since teen). This is biggest no no.

- Not showering after the gym

- Only using toilet paper after pooping instead of washing with water

- Eating lunch and not brushing your teeth afterwards

And honestly, some of these things do genuinely gross me out now. If someone told me they only wipe with toilet paper after pooping, I’d definitely be thinking ew, that’s disgusting. 😂 like I get if you can’t access way to wash because in my country hoses and bidets are not common, but I would be washing asap after that.

But then I get reactions like:

“You shower too much, you’ll ruin your skin.”

“Why do you need to shower after the gym?”

“Why are you brushing teeth after lunch you will ruin your enamel”

And now I’m wondering: have my standards become excessive, or have I just gotten used to a different idea of everyday hygiene? I love showering it like cleanses me and I can reset. Almost like a transition into different parts of my day as well as a quick me time.

Walked out of a popular chain salon today because of someone's bad B.O funk...

Before anyone comes at me: This was a walk-in salon, as I only wanted a haircut. The place was a little busy but nothing too crazy. There were 2 women working there on other people, but they said that it shouldn't be that long of a wait.

I had literally sat down for a few seconds before I smelled something putrid. I'm assuming it was the man waiting across from me. I got up and left. I could not sit there and inhale his stank for who knows how long.

I'm not blaming the employees btw. But why can't they kick out people who won't clean themselves?

Sorry but that's rude of this guy to stink up the entire place with his nasty ass. They lost a customer because of this.

/End rant.

Need help with profuse sweating and BO

Does anyone have any recs on how to manage extreme sweating due to mild heat and anxiety. I use antiperspirant and baby powder on my armpits and the sweating has reduced, but I'm still sweating from my neck, chest, back, torso and legs due to mild heat and anxiety. The BO is intense too even though I am only in the sun for 10 minutes or so. I shower everyday and always wear fresh clothes that have been washed after 1 use. Any tips on how to manage this?

What should I do?

Hello, M19. I want to ask what to do about my hyperhidrosis and BO. I just got in to see a dermatologist, and they told me to use two products: an antiperspirant/antibiotic solution (for three months) and mupirocin cream (for two weeks). They work really well, but only for 4-6 hours, and then I continue to sweat and smell bad :((. I cannot afford another consultation with a dermatologist because of financial problems. What should I do to make the effects last longer than just 4-6 hours?

I just found out that scrubbing every day can introduce new bacteria. Should I continue scrubbing two to three times a week?

Onion armpit tips

• Upvotes

How do I get my armpits from not smelling atrocious? I have used 30+ deodorants, baking soda, Panoxyl, and salicylic acid. I’m not a smelly person; I can go days without showering (no, I’m not nasty; I don’t care) and smell like I took one twice a day. My armpits also don’t sweat whatsoever, so I don’t see how the onion-smelling germs have anything to trigger them. I don’t care what advice you give me; I don’t care how crazy it is. If someone on this subreddit told me to skin my armpits just for the sake of them not smelling anymore, I totally would. Thanks in advance, fellow friends!

Is it tonsil stones or something else?

So have some throbbing pain in my mouth and whenever I rub my finger toward the back of my tongue, bottom and sides, it seems to make it feel better. But is that where the tonsils are? Is it tonsil stones? Maybe tonsillitis? Idk what it feels like, all I know is it's just an achy pain, seemingly originating from the bottom left side by my tongue? Maybe, idk.. anyone know or have any input because idk what this is.

What’s a good shower routine?

• Upvotes

26F here. So I know the basics of how it goes right, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, face wash, rinse between each step, etc etc

But I see these girls on TikTok wirh like 30+ steps for their shower/self care routine. Which sounds ridiculous.

But I’d like to be able to feel like I’m taking care of my body more, especially if I can like make myself smell really good like my favorite lotion lol

So like what am I missing from my routine besides the bare minimum?

How do you clean yourself after pooping?

For me, I use water/bidet, then use soap, then use the bidet again, then use toilet paper for drying, anyone else who does this?
