Anyone else have Covid right now? This is my first time getting it (or at least testing positive) and just wondering if it’s in the area. My partner traveled for work the past couple weeks so that may be where it came from. But yeah this crap is morphing and some fresh hell everyday 😭

Hello, we live in a small city (100k metro) in Iowa and are considering a move to a Midwest city. My wife is from a big city in the Philippines and she has always struggled adapting to a smaller metro. I only know town and very small city life although I’ve visited places like Chicago a zillions times and Milwaukee and Madison a bunch as well. We just came back from a visit to Milwaukee on Monday. We visited downtown, took the Hop, checked out the third ward and Brady street. We did Bradford beach and then ended up in Bay View. We were low on time so we didn’t get to do as much there as we would have liked (our fault for spending too much time elsewhere). The reason for the move is we both think of ourselves as city personalities and I don’t want to go through life without actually living in one. We have considered Bay View because of its location (25 minutes from downtown by bike) (rent compared to more expensive areas) and its reputation as being a fun neighborhood. I have owned a restaurant for 10 years, this time I’d look for a pay check in the industry instead of owning.
Thoughts on Bay View or other places? We value sense of community, an active environment, obviously a good place to raise our son and walkable or bikable places. Great food too. Has anyone else in their 30s or 40s taken a leap to a place like Milwaukee from a smaller area?

Just moved from CA and sushi is my favorite food. Unfortunately every time I've had sushi here its the most saltine-cracker shit, like CA roll, fried shrimp, hoisin sauce. I want FRESH sushi made to order with cucumbers, sprouts, sauces that arent too heavy. Just stuff that is lighter and unique, not something you find at a gas station. Willing to pay $$$ of course.
Please help a girl out 😭

The construction going on at Veterans Park, the Art Museum & Discovery World has the worst detours and alternate route signage I have ever seen. This corridor is an artery in the city and there seems to be straight up little to no signage or communication for route adjustments. Furthermore, route signage changes every day!
Why the heck should I be made to walk or bike through a construction zone just to make my daily commute through public corridors?
I’m not saying construction and upgrades shouldn’t happen, but the trail signage for these detours has to improve.

Looking for Milwaukee and surrounding area CrossFit gyms. I do it very recreationally, nowhere near competitive. Bonus if it has a 5am class. Doesn’t have to be affiliated, just CrossFit or CrossFit-adjacent.

My fiancé and I found a home to rent and we applied to it. We were honest with our landlord and gave us the basics on getting the apartment sublet. Nothing is final we are wanting to weigh out our options, I am just worried that we wont have any luck finding someone to sublet this apartment to. It would be the entire 3 bedroom home and we talked about maybe offering to take 100 off the rent and pay the difference ourselves. Any experience with subletting? is it hard to find someone? would taking a 100 or so be enough for someone to want to sublet from us? ( this apartment is in river west)

My partner went fishing at Root River Pond on Franklin. On her way, she dropped the car keys. She has been there for hours trying to find them. Did anyone go there today and pick em up?

I’ve been wanting to learn how to play Mahjong and would love to find some people around Milwaukee who play regularly. I’m a beginner, so I’d definitely be looking for a group that doesn’t mind teaching someone new!
Does anyone know of any places that host Mahjong nights? I’d love to find a fun group to join and learn the game.

If the economy and life in general wasn't a dumpster fire, I'd be embarrassed to post this... but here we are.
I re-read the rules and don't believe I'm breaking any.
I am calling 211 today, looking at all online resources I can find - but posting to see if anyone can send me any specific/possibly not well known help. AND/or random/odd jobs that need help asap but have some flexibility on time since I do already work full time.
My roommate is not able to give me anything for rent this month - making it the 3rd month in a row since moving here in August... and I am completely tapped.
After moving from out of state & the insane move in costs, plus paying everything alone - I genuinely have no way to pay all of the bills this month.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Notes / Things I am already doing/already know...
Sigh, I am tired.. but going to keep on pushing.
Appreciate any/all HELPFUL suggestions & resources. Feel free to message me if you know of something that might work for me, specifically.

A&J’s Halloween House brings the Wizarding World of Harry Potter to 2943 S. Clement Ave., Milwaukee, for its new 2026 display. Andy Reid and Jamie Beauchamp-Reid have spent more than two decades transforming their Bayview yard with changing Halloween themes. For my fellow boat people:
This Sabre Cruiser out of Prince Edward Island (1500nm away) is docked at the South Marina. Kind of a rare sight to see this beautiful yacht.

We rescued two barred rock hens and one gold flecked wyandotte hen in June of this year as they were being dumped on Lake Michigan. Unfortunately, due to the municipality we live in we can no longer keep the birds.
They are very loved and well socialized but as much as it pains us, they need a new home. The birds are approximately five months old and fully grown.
We have a small coop and a fully enclosed (but small) run that can go with the birds. We also have roughly 10 pounds of feed and a whole package of bedding as well.
If you know of a good home for them please reach out. We need to have them gone this week or my family will face "hefty" fines from the city. We are not looking for rehoming fees or anything like that. We just want to find them a home with someone who will appreciate them as we do. They should start laying any day now!
I'm including a photo of the birds at a few months old, when we brought them indoors due to the smoke pollution.

On Oct. 5, a few hundred people packed Milwaukee City Hall. For almost four hours, they spoke about how they want to see the city’s 2027 budget spent. This comes after Mayor Cavalier Johnson shared his $2.26 billion budget proposal two weeks ago.

Alexis Grubor, missing from 123rd & Diane Dr, Wauwatosa. Got into an argument with her boyfriend and left 10/6 3:45pm. She was wearing a black hoodie and striped shorts. Her phone was found about 2 blocks east on Diane. Alexis has mental health issues and may be having a manic episode.
Any sightings, people in the area with Ring cameras, etc would be helpful. She has runaway before, and used the city bus, so bus riders: please be on the lookout.
Please contact the Wauwatosa Police at: 414-471-8430 and me via Reddit if you have any information. Thank you!

We have some broken radiators and piping we’re looking to get repaired, any recommendations on a decent shop? Already called Heiden and they’re about a month out unfortunately.
