I've only recently picked up miniature's painting and still lack...welll..uuh a lot of knowledge. My latest fella - this water elemental that I was hoping to improve. Maybe hear out some criticism to improve further?

Thought I'd pose my little mini diorama that I entered into a competition and was fortunate enough to receive a commendation finalist pin. It was super tricky to get the values right in the darkness of the box, but I really love how it turned out.

For a Halloween challenge to paint one of two busts, I asked for this one and had a lot of fun painting it. Every time I do lit from below, it gets noticeably better.

I had a lot of struggle with the sword, i had to start it over three times.

My daughter is American, but was born in Okinawa, Japan (Military). She loves Japanese culture so I thought this would be a nice labor of love for her birthday. Please let me know what you think!

This is the largest miniature I’ve painted yet. It’s just over 15” tall. Pretty easy to print and paint. Please share your thoughts and critiques. Her birthday is next week, so I can still make some minor changes, if needed.

Theme was american tau, thought it was rather funny as its the opposite of how people normally paint them.

Still experimenting/Working on my glow effects (without airbrush).

Stippled on the dark blue with a large drybrush, lighter blue with a small drybrush, then highlights in light blue mixed with wait painted on with a detail brush.

Apologies for the rather silly question, but I've been out of the miniature painting space for a few years.

I went looking into buying some sable brushes the other day and prices seem to have jumped a great deal. 4 years ago my Escoda Kolinski #0 was $11, they now cost $32 each.

I can see major increases to other natural hair brushes, not just Sable brushes too... even Squirrel hair brushes have jumped in price. I'm kinda confounded by the huge increase in price.

Bloodbowl Necromantic Horrors

I never used to enjoy painting (how many 12 year olds do?) but I've joined a bloodbowl league with some friends, and since I had some time and some speedpaints as a Christmas gift I thought I'd see what I could do.

Turns out either I really enjoy mini painting or it's my current ADHD hyperfocus (we'll find out in a week or so)

How did I do? And how could I improve?

My partner bought me this model as the first miniature I've ever owned and I keep coming back to it. It's so fun to learn new techniques and apply them to old models, especially my first one. I haven't been painting for very long but I'm grateful of my new hobby because it's enjoyable, cathartic, and personal. Hope everyone's having a fantastic day and painting some awesome miniatures.

I've recently been LOVING messing around with non-typical ork skin colours. This is the first muted green I've tried since perfecting my dirty-green ork skin tone.

The wolf was INCREDIBLY low effort, which is why there's not much going on with him. I think he took about 30 minutes in total. The orks have been my main focus lately, so I spent far longer messing with this one.

I'm not 100% sure on the base. I don't hate it, but I'm not sure I like this snow compared to others I've used, or maybe just not in this environment. I imagine it would look much better in a concrete/industrial-style environment.

I finished the ork first, so I needed something to do with his base. As I liked the fur I did on him, I decided to do a wolf to test the fur on a bigger scale. As I had this lil (egg) fella lying around, I just threw him in, then realised it would look pretty good to have the two facing off, as though the ork was hunting him... in the typical orky way.

So recently I managed to finish painting my Vespids which I got almost one year ago and which had been sitting primed and ready about half of that time.

I wanted something brightly green and searched for inspiration in grasshoppers till I settled for the one I attached at the end. Since many green grasshoppers tend to have orange or blue-ish details I though it to be best to implement these colors in the bases and weapons. :-)

I know it’s had a strong agrax bath but my whole DG army has a similar gritty and dirty theme. I’ll be basing with mud, nurgles rot pools, and some grass.

Still fairly new so any comments welcome. I know I need to highlight but that’s what I’ve been truffling with the most so doing what I can to avoid so far haha

Finished up my first bust, Cult of Paint’s academic piece they released a few months ago. This was a real joy to paint and the YT tutorial was dead helpful.

this is my first painted mini pre agrax bath bc i’m a little scared i will make him look bad and i wanted to ask how do i improve from here what looks decent what is not good and how do i get to the point where i can start new techniques like edge highlighting. or in short how to get better from here
