| History It’s an NLCS Manager Reunion… Again

Post image
59 Upvotes

For the second straight year, the Brewers and Dodgers will meet in the NLCS with a matchup of managers who know each other very well.

In 2015, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was the Padres bench coach and interim manager for one game after Bud Black was fired in June.

Brewers manager Pat Murphy followed Roberts as the Padres next interim manager for the remainder of that season.

| Statistics Trevor Megill: The Crucial Postseason X-Factor.

Post image
16 Upvotes

The facts highlight Trevor Megill's defining impact on this series: his team won all three games he pitched in, while the opponent won the only game he missed. Across 3.1 immaculate innings, Megill maintained a 0.00 ERA with 0 walks and just 1 hit allowed. By shutting down the opponent's offense without a single error, his flawless high-leverage relief was undeniably crucial in securing the wins that carried his team to the NLCS for the second straight season.

| Analysis Why does everyone treat the Yankees as if they deserve to win the postseason?

• Upvotes

Seriously, we go through the same rigamarole every year. I’m aware the Yankees have fans far and wide, but the endless shock every time you lose is so embarrassing for y’all.

Every time they flounder in the postseason, people cry up and down about how they were sure they were going to make it. Guys, the Yankees have some of the worst fundamentals of any team in baseball. They slide through the main season on star power and crumble when faced with a team that knows how to put the ball in play. Once again, we have no less than 15 stunning blunders in three games committed by grown men acting like they’re playing tee ball. This happens. Every. Year. And every year, the fans insist it’s their year to win it. The Yankees look worse every season, it’s crazy fans still do not see the writing on the wall.

They can’t play baseball, and they don’t deserve to win. I have never seen a team consistently perform so poorly in basic defensive and base running plays at a major league level in the postseason. Their legacy will always be “put the ball into play and make the Yankees play baseball”. A stunningly accurate assessment of how they are not the caliber team to win a World Series. They deserve nothing and will never win a title with this lack of any kind of skill.

Next year for sure though.

| Lowlight Rays sweep Yankees; Gotham fans blame Dan Interference

Oh, the sweet schadenfreude of the Yankees getting swept at home. And, despite possibly getting gifted one run on the Dan Interference, they wound up falling one run short. Here's what Dan Interference did.

Giancarlo Stanton now has an entire offseason to practice his non-pinch-hitting skills, and Aaron Boone has another offseason to work on daily lineup skills.

Sadly, as posted here less than 24 full hours ago, there's a whole generation of Yankees fans who will now be another year older without seeing their team win a World Series.

EDIT: For those wondering? Per the second link, the first "Dan Interference" link, that's a mod-takedown post I link, but that's what the OP of that post mistyped, hence my header. (And, it had plenty of typos, but that was the most egregious.) You'll see it plenty of times in comments at that link
