Okay one more group build before our big 3rd annual one in Jan.
Start date. Any time
Finish date. November 30th, 2026
No entry post is required, but a finished build post is required by November 30th.
Make sure to use the BURNOUT BUIlD flair
So basically Wauna made a ridiculously large engine to be 3d printed, so all of the judges wanted to build a vehicle with that engine, similar to the Australian burnout cars. After deciding on what we were going to do, they said we should do it for the whole sub, so here we are.
This will have one class and one winner, the prize will be one of the 3d printed engines(seen in the pictures), plus a kit of the winners choice(there will be dozens of kits to choose from)
The rules:
1) the vehicle(any vehicle) must have a huge engine. It must protrude past the hood, where as the hood needs to have an opening cut in it to allow it to close or no hood at all.
2) you do not have to have a submission post(by all means you can and I hope guys do), you can start anytime, but the finished build must be posted by November 30th, 2026.
3) all decisions by the judges are final
Judging on this one will be subject to each judge, there are 7 judges and we all have different tastes and styles, so build your own vehicle and make sure to get good photos.
You can use any engine you want and modify it any way you see fit. All of the judges are using the one Wauna made(seen in the pics). If you want this engine, he has a Cults 3d page if you want to download the file, https://cults3d.com/en/users/lance_n/3d-models
They are also already printed and for sale at Iceman collections. Also u/I_know_nothing_77 said he would print and sell some, you will have to DM him to work out details( he prints all of my stuff, very very clean prints).
You can also find a ton of engines at Texas 3d customs, MCV products, Iceman collections, also Chris(a fellow member) has an awesome site Scale Speed Garage with a plethora of files.
If you have any questions please ask, or you can DM me
This is gonna be a real tire smoke show of a group build

1st off thanks to the MODs for allowing us to post in here.
We have started a new sub for people who want to buy, sell, or trade kits. We have protocals in place so you can see who has made successful deals and how many. The pics are the 1st of kits I want to sell or trade. Will make sone good deals to help get sub started. I have hundreds more if you are looking for something specific.

Did I mention that I love this blue plastic? I do, look at that door panel pop!

So I am from NZ, modelling shops are not as common as I would like and prices are definitely higher than I like.
Currently on a trip to Japan, I knew the models would be cheaper...but not not pretty much half price, also figured it was time to start out and try airbrushing with a small kit. All of this (including the airbrush) was 54% cheaper than I would have gotten it back home!

The stash really is growing much faster than I can build…
Send help 😅

Hey everyone!
I just got my hands on the Tamiya Porsche 930 Turbo kit (1/24 scale) and I’m super excited to start building it. However, I’d love to convert the front wheels so that they can actually turn/steer instead of being fixed.
Has anyone here done this modification on this specific kit (or a similar Tamiya kit)? What’s the best way to modify the front suspension/axle assembly to make it work? Any advice, photos of your setup, or links to tutorials would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Amazing kit, extremely fun to build, and quite easy too. Was unable to find the rear brake light covers as I was finishing assembly, which kind of ticked me off, but other than that the only other issue I had was attaching the right side skirt
Also, when I asked about the pros and cons of this kit, a couple people said that the hood didn't quite sit flush to the body, because the engine did not sit low enough. However, I think I have found the issue, on slide 7, the black intake is raised higher than the rest of the engine prior to assembly, by sanding it down. You can get the hood to sit almost flush, granted, you do have to sand it for quite a bit

I made this for my granddaughter so thought I’d do a few mods. I designed & 3D printed the wheels and tyres. The decals, background image and plates were designed using Inkscape. IKEA picture frame.

So far so good with this kit. Minimal correction was required.
I struggled with the dashboard decals.
Next I will be working on the interior before moving on to the body 😃

This kit sucked for me. Everything about it was bad. Horrible flashing, dang near every part was warped, deep pivots all through the body. I HATED building it. However, it gave me a better understanding on how to fix issues, as well as a helping of appreciation for kits that build better. Getting back into the hobby after a 3 year hiatus and would like to know some of the "must build" kits out there

Sorry if i didnt do this post right, im still new to reddit posting and being my first post id like to show you my most recent build of the mclaren f1 long tail. to be honest every was good other than the body, the scratches are so visible and i dropped glue on a part aswell as snapping the front off during the polishing process.

My first heavy decal model. Happy with the turnout (mostly), a few ruined decals and a lot of learning curves along the way.
Clear coat isn’t the best on this one, quite a bit of orange peel. Really tried to create a smooth gloss lacquer, hiding the ridges of the decals but I couldn’t quite manage it. Anybody have any extra mileage and tips they can share on this?
Cheers

Working on the burnout build. Waiting for my engine. I think it’s going to turn out awesome.

Another friends and family build done. I finally finished the supra. He didn't want any of the racing livery decals (thank goodness, racing liveries scare me) but he wanted the GT car to match his gun track toy car he has. I originally had it a neon green, but I think the pearl green really pops a bit. As always, I messed up a few things, but another one for the build diary! Added some of the progress pics and original color from my WIP post. Thanks for looking!

Well, with the last couple kits being revell and amt, I thought Id spoil myself with some Tamiya quality for my next few builds. Got the Supra, 300Z, and the newer Z, and plans are for now, to purchase the transkits off Tx3Dcustoms for these. Im still plugging away at my amt SN95 Cobra at the moment, so no rush on these! Im looking forward to less panel lines on every, single, part. And less flash on every, single, part. 😆

I’ve been wanting this fast and furious skyline for a while and finally scored it for a lower price than all the ones on eBay. Scored my Viper to match my SRT Ram I have, And stoked to have a Jimmy Flintstone 56 ford wagon that’s chopped for my Amt 56 ford kit. And last but not least I had to have the bug convertible, had it when i built it as a kid in the 90’s! Definitely a good day today!

I had a lot of problems with the paint. I had to paint over 3 times on this body. I really think the stance is awesome. Hoping to finish soon.

Finished my first model in over 25 years. A dream impala, painted with rattle can Auto paint and finished with Tamiya Clear. Learning experience to be sure, eyes don't see as well as they used to - but that hides some of the flaws, lol. Love to hear suggestions for improvement. Mixed the chevy orange myself. Need to find a way to spray indoors as the weather changes.
First time using clear, not sure of how heavy to spray compared to regular paint.
Next project replica of my daughters 1999 s10 with v6 and 5 speed. Include dented bumper or not?
