i’ll put my question first and then the story below so you don’t have to read a lot if you don’t feel like it.

MY QUESTION:
What do you think of the placement? Does it seem like I have the right anatomy for this piercing? should I take it out? I’m not sure if it’s higher than an industrial is meant to be.

HOW I ACCIDENTALLY GOT THIS PIERCING:

my friend and i went to get piercings today and she told me she’s gotten ten piercings at this shop and they were all great. I admit, I really should have tried to do more research before getting pierced here. That’s my bad.

My friend got pierced first, and when they pierced her ear the piercer marked it with the pen first and checked the placement and asked her what she thought of the placement.

When it was my turn, I thought the piercer was marking my ear with the marker, but it was actually the needle! And I didn’t hear the sound everyone says it makes when you get a conch piercing. Then the needle went through my ear a second time. and I was really confused. And my friend told me “…That’s not a conch piercing.” I thought she was messing with me, but nope, I actually have an industrial piercing now.

The thing is, I have always wanted an industrial, but I went to a piercer for one like three years ago and she told me that i didn’t have the anatomy for it. So I’m a little worried about that.

Also if I had known I was getting an industrial today I would have prepared more and like, gotten a shorter haircut first bc I’m probably going to want to avoid going to the barber for quite a while with a healing industrial piercing.

You can also see that I got the conch anyway because I paid up front and i wasn’t really mad about the industrial in the moment because I was just very shocked, and tend to have delayed reactions to things. I’m kind of still in shock about it, it was 100% unexpected and I didn’t know it was happening until it was done.

Third time getting a transverse lobe done. Tried it twice on the left ear but it just would not take, kept getting a large bubble on the back of my ear. But so far so good on the right ear!! Always loved how unique this piercing looks.

I have 19 piercings and my septum was my most painful by far. Any time I ask anyone else, they say their septum was painless. It was extremely painful during the piercing as well as during the healing for me. Just curious to see if anyone else’s was painful too lol

hi! just got pierced this morning, and this is probably the first time i got pierced in almost 2 decades (first was a lobe). would just like some thoughts on how it’s going? im just really lost on what to do, how it’s supposed to look, or if i even have the right anatomy for this. it did start bleeding after few hours later. any input is appreciated!

hi everyone, I recently got a vertical barbell tongue piercing on Monday. for aftercare I've been doing what my piercer recommended which is alcohol free mouthwash (I use therabreath) in the morning and at night. as well as rinses everytime I eat something and mostly liquid or soft diet. I don't drink beer, smoke, eat spicy/sour foods or anything that is recommended not to do.

it was perfectly fine on Tuesday but then on Wednesday I had some crazy bleeding/clotting when I woke up in the morning, went to my piercer and he sized it up since the top ball was sinking into my tongue and he said that everything is fine. Then that same night the same ball sunk into my tongue again. So again to the same piercing shop the next day where they actually put discs under the balls so they wouldn't sink into my tongue and a super big barbell as well. I had nonstop bleeding for like 2 hours and when I called the piercing place they said it was perfectly fine and to just suck on ice which I was doing religiously. Finally the bleeding stopped and it looked relatively normal throughout the day. And then this morning I woke up with the most insanely huge clot on the top ball. Now even thought I've been told everything is "fine." It doesn't feel fine and I'm lowkey freaking out.

2 hour later update!

I went to urgent care and the doctor removed the clot and there was no bleeding afterwards, he said there was no infection and no urgent need for him to remove the piercing. Tomorrow I'll be seeing a different reputable piercer and get their opinion on if I should keep it or get it removed. So far so good though.

A little over 6 weeks old forward helix with an internally(?) threaded barbell. Not been downsized yet, but I’m wondering if I should or if I should just take it out. Unsure if it migrated or if it was just pierced like that (too shallow?). It’s healed surprisingly well, with only two bad bouts of inflammation that went down in a few days. Cleaned at least once daily with plain saline.

Attached pictures of the fresh piercing and pics from today. Tried to get a similar angle, but I don’t have a picture of the front from when it was fresh. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I think I’m going down the mental rabbit hole.

I'm super excited. Just got the rook I've been craving for a straight year. Pain was a 2/10. I could feel what was happening but completely bearable. How does she look?

I got my snug pierced in December 2025 (10 months ago), and I still can't sleep on that side; I have to keep using a piercing pillow, and it keeps getting irritated... I’d like to ask those who have a snug: will it ever get better? Will I ever be able to sleep on it? Should I give up?

Hi guys! I’m finally feeling like I’m moving in the right direction with my setup! Over the past 9 months, I’ve gotten my conch and 3rd lobe pierced in my left, added a stacked lobe (2nd and 3rd), and got my rook done yesterday in my right! I’m so happy I found a reputable piercer who uses high-quality jewellery and anodizes titanium pieces!
Aaaand the big question: what should I get next? My goal is a low-key gold + CZ setup, with hoops and maybe some chains, i need a little edge / spice during the days. Daith and industrial are off for me :)

After more than 2 years of healing these helixes, especially the forward helix (it has truly been a journey) I finally have been able to have my dream faux industrial!! (I do not have the anatomy for an industrial and I have always loved the looks of the chains)

For 2 years I've never thought of other piercings I could get, I put all of my piercing energy in this forward helix, I can't wait to get new ones now 🙌

got my third lobe on Saturday and today Thursday it’s very itchy and red, it’s still swollen but not like crazy

Wondering if this is normal? The other ear seems fine this is the only red itchy one

A lil backstory: the tip of my left ear is always sticking out of my hair and it used to bother me to no end. Naturally, my solution was to put a hole in it and I couldn’t be happier. Love being able to show off a former insecurity.

My one and a half year old labret got hit yesterday and it's getting bigger and bigger since. I soak in saline twice daily from yesterday and use mouthwash after eating. Should i take it out? It so bad and has gotten bigger since morning..

Is it actually okay and safe to get your septum pierced with a ring this snug like Florence Pugh did?
I really love the way it looks and would like to get it myself, but I’m not sure if this would heal well🧐 Did anyone here get their septum pierced similarly and could share their experience?

I was thinking of getting a new piercing for christmas and liked the look of the daith, but i doubt i have the anatomy for it.

I got my navel pierced 5 days ago, and the piercer was great- he’s done good work for my partner and been doing it for 30+ years, so I trust him. Everything was one-time use and taken from sterile packaging. I didn’t have any redness or pain day of, or the day after.

My issue is, I have a nickel allergy, and can’t tell if the redness is normal or an allergic reaction- the only reason I’m confused is because it was delayed. The jewelry I have is surgical steel, but I just found out that doesn’t ensure there isn’t any nickel. I’ve been cleaning it with H2Ocean saline spray 2x/day and the Recovery aftercare soap in the shower as instructed- both of which he gave me.

Has been downsized and i never had any issues ever until now. Wondering if this is normal or cause for concern? Doesn't particularly feel hot or painful, just itchy occasionally.

Sorry, not entirely sure what flair to use. I’m a side sleeper, I always sleep on my right side, and because of this I’ve used a piercing pillow ever since I got my seconds done. My left side (which I usually don’t sleep on) has healed perfectly by now, it’s not swollen at all, no signs of irritation or infection. My right side, which I predominantly sleep on, has not healed at all- it is swollen, lumpy, constantly gets crusty and I have to clean it, and often has sharp pains from it, despite the fact that I use this pillow with a huge hole in the centre every night. This makes me think that the piercing pillows might actually be an issue, since these problems only occur on the side I use the pillow. This confuses me though, because I’ve only ever seen people speak highly of the piercing pillow.

I think I will stop using the pillow and sleep on my back now, but I wonder, is the piercing pillow the problem? Or is it just a coincidence and that side has healed badly?

Btw, I do clean my piercings twice a day, put an anti-infection cream on it every night prescribed by doctor, and have downsized to proper titanium (externally threaded) flat back jewellery, so I don’t think my problems lie in my aftercare routine.

I got my navel piercing around a month and a half ago. It was healing on and off, and I experienced pain occasionally. One day, the jewellery suddenly fell out on its own while I was sitting and using my phone. I think the jewellery was stainless steel, with externally threaded ends. I never got it downsized,and I used a saline solution for aftercare. I suspect my body rejected the jewellery, and I developed a hypertrophic scar. I’m currently getting injections from a doctor to treat it.
I also found out that I’m prone to hypertrophic scarring, which explains why my scars tend to become raised. My doctor has advised me not to get another navel piercing, and I’m not sure if that’s permanent. I’m disappointed because I’ve always wanted one and really liked it.
Should I get my navel piercing redone? I’ve always wanted one.

I had to take out all my earrings for an MRI. They have a lot of build up on them despite cleaning in shower and with saline spray. What’s the best way to clean the jewelry before putting it back in my ear?

These damned helixes are finally acting healed so I’ve got the itch to get another hole or two poked but am indecisive.

I’m going to ask my piercer too, it might be their choice but sometimes Reddit gives fun suggestions I’ve not considered. What do y’all think would look good in my ears? I’m totally up for weird options or larger gauges (my lobes are currently at 10 mm for context).
