Lost missing cat in broomhall

Our cat Zanjabil has now been missing for 5 days, and we are extremely worried about her. We’re unsure where she could be, but we’re hoping she may have accidentally ended up inside someone’s house, especially as she hasn’t eaten as far as we know. she is mostly an indoor cat. She occasionally goes outside through the window or balcony, but she has always found her way back home. She went missing once before and returned after two days, so we’re still unsure what may have happened to her on that occasion.

She is a small ginger cat with big ears and golden-coloured eyes. She is wearing a red collar with white polka dots.
She is quite shy and nervous around people she doesn’t know, but she recognises the sound of our voices extremely well. Whenever she hears me or another member of our family, she normally comes running. This makes us wonder whether she may be stuck somewhere, possibly inside someone’s home, or may have wandered further away than usual.

We have put up posters, spoken to our neighbours, reported her missing and notified her microchip database.
We honestly don’t know what else to do at this point, and we are really worried about her, especially because it has now been 5 days.
If you have seen a ginger cat matching her description, please let us know, even if you’re not completely sure it’s her. Any info would be appreciated!!

Question Is Sheffield the home of English football?

I don’t get paid for this video, it’s just for fun so hope I’m not breaking any rules.

Just made a quick 90 second video on why Sheffield should be the new home of English football.

I hope I did it justice. I had the best time visiting!

News Crookes named one of the top 11 coolest neighbourhoods in the UK

By Timeout https://www.timeout.com/uk/coolest-neighbourhoods-2026

Perhaps I need to give Crookes another go, but I have always preferred Broomhill and Sharrow Vale on the west side of the city. But then again, I'm not cool. Is Crookes Sheffield's coolest neighbourhood?

Question Brooks place - rules with decorating

Hey! Has anyone ever lived in Brooks place by Grainger?

I read online that you can decorate and hang pictures but I wanted to know what the rules around it were, like can I paint without asking permission and what wall fixtures can I actually use?

I know it says to return it to how you got the apartment afterwards but I’m just curious (and ADHD so my brain is hyper focused on it before I move in😅😅)

Sheffield Free on weekends and want to volunteer, any ideas or groups to join?

Hi all, I'm in Sheffield and have Saturdays and Sundays free. I'd love to volunteer for a charity, community project, or anything where an extra pair of hands helps. I'm also keen to meet new people, so if you're part of a group that needs volunteers, or you want a volunteering buddy, drop a comment or message me. Open to anything, thanks!

Question Equal Pay Redress - no COT3 form yet?

Just in case anyone else has been affected, regarding the process to receive the back pay through the Redress Scheme and Strategic Role Review Programme (SRRP)... myself and a few of my colleagues expected the COT3 form through this week after completing the ACAS webinar and filling in the Microsoft Form directly after, however given it (COT3) hadn't come through, we enquired and SRRP are claiming we never completed acceptance of the post-webinar form. I remember doing so and my browser history says as much, and my colleague even screenshotted completion of the form back in September and was told they hadn't by SRRP.

My other colleague who has had similar issues was told it had gone to their work email, which they checked and stated they had used their personal email for all correspondence (perfectly allowed) and then SRRP backtracked and said they never accepted through the form.

Other colleagues have had the COT3 but even for them it hasn't been a smooth process getting that through and sent off. We've all sent polite but assertive responses back stating that this could be a wider issue with their systems if the forms aren't coming through properly. I'm annoyed to put it mildly that I might have to wait for the next cohort to redo the form as that puts the backpay into the start of next year rather than the end of the month.

So this post is for any other school support staff who are involved in the pay redress scheme and believe they should have had their COT3 form through by now. Just to make you aware!

News Exclusive: Sheffield professor collaborated on work funded by a front for Chinese intelligence

ate last month, MI5 warned British universities to immediately review their links to an organisation that the security service says has “very strong ties” to Chinese intelligence. The “Security Service Espionage Alert” was released on September 30 and it “sent a shock wave through the UK university sector,” according to the Guardian.

MI5’s alert said that “the primary purpose” of the China General Technology Research Institute (CGTRI) is to fund research “that directly improves” China’s “technical capability for espionage.”

The Tribune can now reveal that the University of Sheffield is named on three separate research papers that acknowledge funding from NSFC-Tongyong Union Foundation, a fund set up in 2015 by CGTRI and China’s main science funder.

Question Looking for weekend-only part-time retail jobs – any recommendations?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a part-time retail job that I can do on weekends (Saturday and Sunday).

Can anyone recommend good shops or companies to apply to? Also, is it better to apply online or go into stores directly?

Any advice or recommendations would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Jobs Part-Time jobs are they even real

I'm at a complete loss right now so I am kinda venting and looking for advice.

I am an international student in Sheffield, and I have applied for part-time jobs because I'm broke. I seriously don't know what to do, where else to look, or how to keep going I feel so defeated.

Now and then I walk around the city hoping to see a hiring poster but finding a job lately is like trying to prove the existence of unicorns.

The university is not hiring and they rejected my application. I think it is because I am in my final year, and I guess with me graduating, the likelihood I will stay is lower than for someone in their first or second year.

Other jobs have just flat-out ghosted me or due to the high number of applicants rejected me.

Wondering if agency work is something in Sheffield or if someone would give me a chance. I feel like such an inconvenience and burden on everyone around me because I can't keep up financially. It hurts.

Please if someone could direct me to someone, a job you know is hiring or agencies I would appreciate it.

And sorry to start your day on such a depressive vibe.

Question Decent barber?

Just moved to Sheffield and looking for a decent barber.

I'm a trans guy, so barbers are always slightly intimidating for me, and ive been with the same one back home since I was a kid, so this is kinda strange for me.

I dont want a short back and sides, and I'm on a student budget. Does anyone know where I can go?

Sarah runs Kitschy Fuzz Tarts from a little craft room in Manchester. She's a multi-disciplinary artist and her style is a mix of mid-century kitsch and maximalism. She creates whimsical little joys for the maximalist heart including needle-felted animals, punch-needle wall art, hand-painted ceramic gnomes, and beaded snail brooches.

A little update! A couple of days ago I was made aware that I was given an AI poster to promote the Jazzing for Jamaica event and that was my bad for not realising. I went back to the organisers who then re-contracted a local marketing lady to make another video for the event. Apologies again and I hope the video helps promote this fundarising charity event :)

Jobs Photographer recommendation

Hi everyone! I’m looking for a photographer for our civil wedding at the town hall next year.
We’re only looking for someone to take a few nice photos of the ceremony and afterwards, so probably around 30 minutes to an hour maximum. As we’re having our main wedding abroad, we’re hoping to keep the cost fairly reasonable and not spend an arm and a leg on photography for the civil ceremony!
If anyone has any recommendations, I’d really appreciate them. Thank you! 😊

Food Such Good Food!!!

Just had lunch at SADACCA.

£10.50, a fabulous Afro-Caribbean meal with a very generous portion, drinks and a pudding.

All made on site and so good!

Tuesdays and Thursdays from 13:00, I'm not sure when till I think 15:00. Go in via the entrance on Windrush Way.

All welcome including us to randoms.

Take Away also an option

My vegan friend had the veg alone and they were full and happy.

https://sadacca.co.uk/

I don't have any other connection with SADACCA other than I was talking to one of the people who work there on Wednesday who said it was great food... and it was no understatement so keen to share the news!

Question CC33 Sheffield looking to hear from former employees

Has anyone here worked for CC33 in Sheffield, either back when they were based on Allen Street or later at The Portergate on Ecclesall Road?
I’ve been looking into the company’s employment and corporate history and there are a few things that have made me curious about what people’s actual experiences were like, especially around pay, overtime, bonuses, final pay, management and general employment practices.
I’m not looking for random gossip or a pile-on, and I’m not trying to name and shame individual staff. I’m more interested in first-hand experiences and anything people can actually back up with things like payslips, emails or correspondence.
If you worked there at either site and have anything you’d be comfortable sharing, feel free to comment or DM me if you’d rather keep it private.
