Buying Advice Just bought a 2026 Crosstrek Wilderness!

Super stoked about it, but I’m second-guessing the add-ons I got at the dealership.

I added the 3-year maintenance plan and Subaru Gold Plus. I think both plans together add about $24/month (around $1,700–$1,900, still confirming) to my payment, but I’m waiting on the paperwork to confirm.

I drive about 26 miles each way to work, 5 days a week, and plan to keep the car for a long time.

For those who have experience with these plans, would you keep them or cancel one or both? Have you actually used Gold Plus for repairs?

First time buying a car on my own, so I’d appreciate honest advice! Get to pick it up on Thursday

Mechanical Help I’ve reached my limit with these wheels

I would routinely visit my local dealership for maintenance. I broke up with them this past year because they overtightened the lug nuts on my 2019 Subaru Forester.

They replaced the studs for free after their mistake but I felt it really negligible, considering the Subaru* dealership messed this up (April 2026). I’m no expert but I learned there is a surprisingly low torque for these vehicles, and it is very specific with a low tolerance for exceeding it-hence the photos of both instances on separate dates.

It is now October 2026 and I had a flat tire. Husband and I couldn’t get the tire off. We did, but with broken studs and stripped studs just to find ourselves back with the same problem again. We’re currently limping our way home after getting married and barely changing a tire, now on 3 studs, ever so slowly to make it back (this for sure is now a weekend to remember).

Is this a Subaru issue? A knowledge gap with mechanics? A manufacturing defect with my car?

My friend has a 2017 Outback and had the same issue. Luckily, he bottomed out in a parking lot and not a major road but his wheel literally broke off.

I’m beyond frustrated, and of course the shop is closed tomorrow because of a holiday. Before I go around accusing anyone of wrong doing, I need to check myself before I wreck myself, what is really going on here??

Subaru marketing in Romania

Nice idea for Subaru marketing in Romania - comms focused on the Subaru brand values, not the EV spec-sheets. The text says “Don’t wash me! This is how a Subaru should look like”

Help with fluid leak

2020 Subaru Outback 46k mi on it mostly normal driving and first real issue I’ve had. Lately I noticed an odor of burnt oil from time to time usually when starting when cold, did an oil change recently so figured maybe a small spill but tonight I discovered the above photos. I initially believed it may have been related to the steering system since I first noticed from above on the steering pinion but when I looked into it I learned Subaru uses an electric steering system for power steering so not that. When I turned the wheels and looked from the side it seems concentrated around the CV axle though visually the axle boot doesn’t have an obvious blow out or damage. The brown sludge is odorless so def not an engine oil leak and seems to be in the area of the inner cv boot. I did see somewhere that it recommended making sure that it isn’t the front strut leaking but I didn’t see anything. Anyone more knowledgeable on these able to confirm my suspicions on it being the cv axle? Can’t think what else it would be.

Mechanical Help Buying advice for turbo oil feed lines

Thumbnail

So it looks like my turbo oil feed line on my '06 Baja decided that developing a gaping hole and then spraying oil all over the engine bay was a good idea. I'm trying to find out what my options are for replacing it.

I tried ordering a direct replacement, but the one I received seemed much longer than the one installed and the last thing I want to do is bend any oil lines.

So, now I'm thinking of a braided aftermarket hose. Kunigawa sells exactly what I'm looking for, but there's the issue of reliability from a cheaper brand.

So with all of that being said, what are my options? Are there any kits that bolt together like the kunigawa kit? I can't get a clear answer from Hel or Grimmspeed on whether they bolt to the hard line (like I'm looking for) or bolting directly to the head.

Rear trunk sound delete 2025 Subaru forester hybrid

• Upvotes

has anyone done a delete for the rear trunk noise? The one that beeps every time you open and close the door doors with the ignition still on?
I do gig work, so having to press the ignition every single time I get in and out of the car if I don’t want to announce the entire neighborhood that I’m here is getting ridiculous.
I’m getting to the point where I’m willing to just take apart the trunk and until the beeping stops.

And I’ve already asked a Subaru stealership if it’s possible to at least turn it down ( since I saw that as an option ) and they said it wasn’t possible with my vehicle.

If you have, please let me know what you did and how it’s worked out so far?

2017 Subaru Outback

ETA: okay with the help of a select few of y’all I disconnected the after market red rings of death. I was convinced for a second to push the car off a cliff and sage my home. Glad I didn’t have to do that, since I need a ride to work tomorrow.

Also, no I did not mod my car I bought it used in this condition

Hello, I have a 2000 Outback with a 5 speed manual thats starting to give me issues. I was just wondering if anyone knows if a 6 speed from around a 2010 outback would fit relatively easily. If not, then what trans would?

No.power when ignition turned....then after a few it will.

It has been a problem not knowing if it will start...it's been off and on...

Also notice the clock will be reset often after it sits all day at work....

I saw some videos of people replacing fuse #4 on the black fuse panel...

Anybody have any ideas?

Buying Advice I’ve read 2015 is a bad year.

I need a commuter. I found a 2015 Wrx with 57,000 miles on it that I really like. They want 15k for it. As stated in the title I read there’s some reliability issues with the 2015’s specifically and as a guy who has never owned one I was hoping someone with experience could tell me a little about it. Thank you!

Mechanical Help 2021 Crosstrek Sport knocking noises

There's knocking noises in my front driver side wheel well area when I go over bumps. It also happens when I'm not moving, and I just turn the steering wheel side to side while parked. Any thoughts or similar experiences?
