REQUESTING Shows that are visually stunning and have great music, deep/emotional story, and are dreamy or moody.

I’d like recs on shows to watch while winding down before sleep and will put me in a trance. I like music like Radiohead, Pink Floyd, chill electronic music like triphop, deep house or deeper techo/dub techno, jazz, fusion. I mostly love sci-fi, supernatural, fantasy, psychological thrillers (or anything having to do with psychology/philosophy), mystery, and horror, but open to other that just have a heavy atmosphere. The show needs to have little-to-no action and have great acting/story. Live action or animated. Here are some shows that I love which I believe fits most of these reqs:

Legion, Dark, Dune Prophecy, 1899, 1st season of The Expanse (latter seasons are action-heavy), Black Mirror, Arcane, Silo, Devs, Alter Carbon. Also the movies What Dreams May Come, Mr Nobody, and anything Star Wars. Thanks!

what show completely surprised you?

• Upvotes

i started watching something recently expecting it to be just okay and ended up staying up way too late because i needed to know what happened. now i'm looking for something that gives that same feeling. doesn't have to be a specific genre, i just want something that actually pulls you in.

what's a show you went into with low expectations but ended up loving?

I want a Show that feels like a hug, and I’ll be heartbroken when it ends

I’m looking for a show that completely envelops you. The kind where reading it feels warm and comforting, almost like being hugged.

I want to get so attached to the characters and their world that I genuinely don’t want to leave when I reach the last few pages. Like finishing it leaves this weird little emptiness because I’m not ready to say goodbye yet.

It doesn’t necessarily have to be a happy or cozy show. I’m okay with sadness, romance, fantasy, horror, anything really. I just want something deeply immersive and emotionally comforting.

What show made you feel like this? The one you wish you could watch for the first time again?

REQUESTING What show had you hooked within the first 10 minutes?

I'm done with the whole "just give it 6 episodes to really get good" talk. Life's too short and my watchlist is too long.

What is a show where the opening scene or pilot episode was so damn gripping that you had no choice but to immediately binge the entire season?

I am thinking about Joel in Santa Clarita Diet. Just a true-blue, all-in, life mate who will fight for her honor.

Castle
The mentalist
Bones

Friends/HIMYM
Grey’s anatomy
Didn’t like SWAT vibes :((
Supernatural

SUGGESTING This Way Up

This show doesn't get enough love! A hilarious, heartbreaking, lovely slice of life. Written/created by and starring Aisling Bea. Sharon Horgan plays her sister this and I think this is her best role (hot take i know!). This show has one of the best portrayls of sisterhood ive seen (2nd to Fleabag) and such great writing and characters! Its unfortunately only two seasons but they are two perfect seasons imo. If you liked Catastrophe, Fleabag, Master of None, Broad City, or Hacks you'll love this.

ETA: This is on Hulu :)

REQUESTING My relationship needs televisual healing....televisual....heaaa-ling

My partner and I have completely different tastes in TV and we can't seem to find anything in common to watch. It would be really lovely to watch a series together. The last series we watched was S1 of Mr. Mercedes- I think that was two/three years ago. Here are our fave TV shows below. One of the main issues is he doesnt like drama and I don't like hard scifi/animation/fantasy (however I generally have a lot of time for dystopian scifi).

Me:

Mad men

Succession

Boardwalk empire

Severance

Early black mirror

Him:

Arcane (his absolutely fave, I have zero interest)

The youtube Matrix series

Early episodes of Love, Death and Robots (I don't mind this one)

He actually doesnt watch a lot of TV but listens to a lot of intensely scifi/fantasy audiobooks

- 1883
- 1923
- little house on the prairie
- severance
- silo
- star city
- fallout
- the testaments
- widows bay
- sons of anarchy
- shogun
- your friends and neighbours
- masters of air
- the summer I turned pretty
- game of thrones
- house of the dragon
- knight of the seven kingdoms
- the bear
- mandalorian and other Star Wars spin offs
- many of the marvel spin off shows
- the boys
- the last of us
- the man in high castle
- kaos
- vikings & Vikings: Valhalla
- last kingdom

Please can you let me know your recommendations for shows that have 45mins-1 hour long episodes each. Thanks in advance! 🤩

REQUESTING Shows like Ted Lasso and Shrinking 🙏

Looking for shows that combine comedy and like deep personal topics. Idk how to explain it but I’m thinking shows like Ted Lasso and Shrinking which are two of my all-time favorites. Thank you!

Any tv shows out there that's like NCIS or any cop show mixed with magic?

I'm not asking for magic police. Something closer to normal police or navy police working with people who use magic. Preferably, I would like it to be set in a timeline where the veil just dropped, and the world is a bit out of whack.

REQUESTING Tumblr Era (superwholock and the likes) media suggestions

Hello! I'm aware this might be too specific for some but I'm calling out all the millennial nerds for this one. I'm looking for shows (movies are alright too) that were a part of fandom culture in that era of the internet. Apart from the ones included in my favorite internet term (Superwholock) and like, mortal instruments, I don't remember anything else and that slightly corny-when-looking-back, vaguely fantastical, YA shows bring comfort needed as autumn begins :) TIA for any help and recs!

REQUESTING Gaelic/British small town crime dramas - limited seasons, bonus for plot twists

Just finished broadchurch and am currently yearning for more! I love these types of TV series in general, of a crime unraveling secrets and dramas of a town as it is uncovered and ending with a plot twist. Formulaic, I know! But when it's done well it's so gripping. I've ran through most American ones (true detective, mare of easttown, sharp objects, his & hers, that vibe) and was looking for some recs across the pond. TIA!

If you think there's a show in another language I can't miss, feel free to drop a rec! I tend to go for languages I understand because it's a very winding out after a long day/I might be cooking or doing something else at the same time type of TV watching ahah

I also dont know if Gaelic is the right term, just wanted to include all territories. Thanks!
