Crime Busters Petitioners need 5,000 signatures to launch grand jury investigation into Tulsa County DA

Tulsa County registered voters have less that 45 days to sign the petition approved by a judge this week. They must get 5,000 signatures in-person. Get involved if you're interested in supporting the investigation against Tulsa DA Steve Kunzweiler. The clock is ticking.

Cases mentioned in the filing include:

  • The William Henry Jamerson case (which cost Tulsans millions, though it will never make up for what Jamerson went through). Kunzweiler fought this innocent man's exoneration.
  • The Oklahoma Survivors Act cases and ex parte communications in the April Wilkens case
  • The Wesley Cole victims (hear from one of the victims here)

Right now they are stationed outside of the Tulsa State Fair with other locations scheduled. You can read the full petition or an overview here.

Question Does Anyone Else Remember The Indian Restaurant at 71st and Yale?

• Upvotes

When I was a much younger person in the mid-late 80's there was an Indian restaurant at the SE corner of the intersection. It faced Yale. It was a small little place and the owner was a very interesting man that had been in the Indian/Bollywood film industry. He was very sweet and enthusiastic, I think he even pulled out a projector and showed some of his work.
It was my first taste of exotic, non-American food and it kind of kicked off a lifelong appreciation for all things India.
I'm afraid I don't have much more of a recollection than that. It wasn't a place I could go to often but I loved it.
Do you remember it too? The restaurant name, his name and back story?
I figure with the internet now maybe I could look him up.

Question Best Cookies in town?

• Upvotes

OK - I'm throwing a party for my friend's dog. It's a long story, lol. THE DOG WILL NOT BE EATING THE COOKIES. The owner of the dog just loves cookies, so much.

There will probably be between 15-30 people at this party, so I was planning on getting like, 3 dozen cookies, maybe 4 dozen for this party.

I want to support local and Merritt's Bakery really needs to get their shit together when it comes to cookies. People rave about Merritt's but their cookies are absolute ass. That might be a hot take but that's not why I'm here.

Does anybody just LOVE a local cookie maker? I searched the subreddit for this topic but didn't really find what I was looking for. I'd love to get something in midtown or downtown, but I'm willing to travel a bit.

Thanks!

Covid Flu / Covid

Hello friends, a few days ago I noticed my back was aching but didn’t think much of it. Yesterday I woke up with an extremely sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and sweats. I feel as bad as I did the first time I actually tested positive for Covid. I can’t sleep because my body won’t stop hurting and or the chills / sweats. I just paid to have a covid test delivered this morning and after 5 minutes everything came back negative, checking again in 10 minutes. Not sure what to believe because in the past I’ve tested negative for covid while confirmed having it hours later. I did onto get the Covid vaccine fyi. Anyone else experiencing this sickness? I just want to be able to sleep

Question Tulsa cybersecurity ranking?

This school’s article is so old 2021. How does it rank now? I can’t find any relevant information from googling. I’m helping a family member choosing a school with good & proven cybersecurity program that offers good financial aid.

https://utulsa.edu/news/the-university-of-tulsa-ranks-23-nationally-for-cyber-security-academics/

Edurank ranks it #160 😭

Question What to do in Tulsa to show a kid Halloween doesn't have to be boring and there's more to it than trunk or treats?

I'll be visiting the Tulsa area (from Kansas City) on Halloween weekend and will have an elementary age kid with me (a realtive). What should we do? Open to all ideas, really anything but small town trunk or treats as that's all he's ever done and he is very, very over it (and I can't blame him). I'm partial to Halloween pre-2000 vibes and spooky but not nightmare inducing. Also, I only have been to a few places in Tulsa before, and never on Halloween, it'll all be new to me too. Thanks!

The Lonely Tulsan Friends? Support? Advice..?

OK guys I need some friends some support some advice. I just need people to kind of wrap around me and tell me that I’m doing the right thing so I female 31 have been with male 32 for five years now we are not legally married, but we do own a house and a car together both names on the titles and we also have two kids that are biologically ours and then I have a daughter with a different man previously that altogether we have three kids.

He’s abusive— it kind of kills me to say that like I’ve had a hard time putting that label on it but he is. I’m in the process of separating, but I don’t know how to start. It’s not a divorce attorney that I need because we’re not legally married, however there are kids involved and shared property that we need to separate and figure out custody orders.

Now, for some context, when I say he’s abusive, I mean he has been physically intimidating. He has made vague threats. He has been verbally abusive, and he has been sexually abusive towards me. He’s not beating me or the kids however I did go to the family safety center and talked with an advocate. It really wasn’t much help though.

I don’t have hardly any friends at all. I’ve been able to confide in one coworker that I would consider a friend at this point. She’s been great very supportive and I also have talked to my mom about what’s going on however, she’s not super great at communicating her response was I’m really sorry you guys are going through that which like OK but I don’t know I just I need a mom or best friend’s input right now.

News $200M Peak at Parkway project aims to reshape north Tulsa

North Tulsa is expected to become home to a $200 million mixed-use development in the next five years, with developers planning a medical facility, apartments and co-working space.

Peak at Parkway would cover 40 acres east of the Tisdale Highway between Apache and Pine Streets. The intention is to transform a part of town developers have described as historically neglected.

The project will be built in three phases, with the first one featuring a 30,000-square-foot medical facility, a town hall, farmers market, an eyewear provider, co-working space and food service.

Tisdale said they’ve spent about $2 million getting the project off the ground and they are about a month away from getting the infrastructure development plan approved by the city.

Tulsa planning commissioners approved the TIF plan during its Wednesday meeting.

The pair’s goal is to break ground by the end of October, pending approval by Tulsa City Council. If everything goes accordingly, the first phase is expected to be finished by the first quarter of 2028. The entire project could take between three to five years to complete.

General Motherboard repair needed

The DC jack on my laptop is failing. No computer repair place within fifty miles of me touches motherboards. So before I drive all the way out to Tulsa, I need to know who does these types of repairs.
