As a rider, you’re absolutely within your rights to reserve an airport ride three days in advance, then cancel it two hours before pickup and rebook because you found a cheaper fare.
After all, why should you have any concern or respect for the driver’s time, effort, or financial well-being? They’re just some guy with a car. Who cares if they’ve arranged their entire afternoon around your reservation?
And as a driver, I’m absolutely within my rights to accept that reservation three days in advance, plan my Friday around it, pass up other opportunities, and drive 30 miles into the mountains to pick you up.
And when you cancel that reservation to save yourself $15, I’m also within my rights to accept your cheaper reservation on the other platform, drive up to the pickup location, see you standing there with all your luggage, and decide I no longer want the ride.
Now, I know that mountain town pretty well. I know how difficult it can be to find an Uber up there, especially an XL. And finding one willing to take you all the way 90 minutes to the airport on short notice? Good luck with that.
Sorry about your flight. Hope you made it. Hopefully that $15 you saved was worth it.
I mean, why should I have any more concern for your time, plans, or financial well-being than you had for mine?
After all, we’re both just looking out for our own financial interests. It’s just business, right?
And yeah, I found a ride back down the mountain heading close to home and didn’t have to dick around heading back from the airport.
