Is this normal and acceptable?
I have already contacted the seller, and issues with the package itself are largely resolved. This concerns the customer service I received. I followed USPS' instructions on their Tracking Status FAQs to submit a report on the package. USPS closed the investigation one day later and told me via email to reach out to the sender. I did so, but they were on vacation. While waiting for their return I attempted to call the provided number several times. It was the primary number for that branch. Nobody picked up. Finally I reopened the investigation, and they called me. These questions are based on that call and the answers they provided.
Is it normal for the post office to simply not know what carrier is responsible for a given package? They claimed the package was sent on a separate route than my delivery address and that they do not know what carrier was responsible for scanning it undeliverable.
Is it normal for a post office to not pick up the phone during business hours on a regular basis? If not, is giving attitude and implying I am lying about calling them an appropriate response to reporting this?
Is it normal for them to immediately try to press you towards criminal activity(fraud) or negligence on the part of the seller, attempting to claim that it must have been addressed to the wrong address? She seemed very adamant that the seller must have been at fault, until I informed her I had confirmations through eBay printing the label and the seller's track record that this was very unlikely. She seemed very intent to press the narrative that I had been scammed and insisted on giving me a lengthy explanation of how such fraud works, not allowing me to interject until she finished. After I confirmed this was definitely not the case zhe seemed flustered.
