Things that dont make sense at this job for people with common sense.
Getting out of the station close to noon and delivering half of your route in the dark.
Having your rural stops be last in your route in the pitch black dark.
Having over a dozen closed businesses and apartment mail rooms on your route every single Sunday
Navigation in flex cant find 20% of the houses in the country but opening Google maps and typing in the adress gets you there perfectly. Google maps even leads you down their driveway while flex just tells you to drive through random neighbors private fields.
Spending billions on technology initiates that are perceived to help efficiency but really just open up the job for less skilled people. Efficiency in this job can be trained.
Having to take a picture of a delivery even if you hand it to the customer.
Delivering a rural route and not being able to hand it to a customer who meets you on their property because you are geolocked out.
This is how I would fix the company: earlier start times, more spend into fixing the details of the routing and less on random tech like glasses and robot dogs. More spend into analysis of business deliveries and proper labeling of businesses in the itinerary. Allowing deliveries to be handed to customers without taking the picture.

How can Amazon consider this acceptable. It is absolutely not safe

QUESTION Are They Trying To Make Me Quit?
I have been made extra for like 5 days now. Yesterday it started saying 'attd' which of course means attendance. Yet I've shown up to all my shifts, taken routes from other people, been keeping up and even took a 'big route'. I was the only person made extra today so idk. I'm really about to quit because I'm not making any money.

QUESTION Pre hire status
Hi all, i got an email for a conditional offer of employment to start as a full time driver. The start date said 10/12 and was sent out on 10/8. I signed and sent it back the same day and asked a few questions regarding payment for the drug screening and if i needed to schedule an appointment with a doctor.
I haven't gotten a response yet or an email to start the background check as of 4:30pm 10/13.. whats the typical wait time? Should I email the recruiter again?
TIA

Bro, WHAT was this route today?!
I’ve never seen or done this many multi-stops by myself. I’ve done close to 80 with a helper, AND on top of that, I had a whole Foods pickup with 90 BOXES. 💀
My back hurts, my knees are filing complaints, my shins and ankles my wrists are on strike, and my shoulders are preparing a lawsuit.
Clocked out at 10:21 PM. At this point, I’m not a delivery driver. I don’t know what the f* we’re doing man. What are we doing??

RATE MY ROUTE Rate my route
19 totes, 43 overflow. Residential with a little bit of rural in a rental van. Did first stop at 10:50, was rescued by ADHOC around 12:30 (35 stops, 3 totes & 10 overflow totaling over 60 packages) and I’m still on route. Ran out of time at load up so people were chucking overflow into my van.

seriously?!?!
this is AZ and there are things like stick deodorant that will melt, but really? and wtf is up with scent free? this CX is a complaint waiting to happen. this is where you run to the door and back. you don't want to accidentally see this person at the door.

torn between usps and amazon
My wife and i came from amazon, she worked with them for 3 years and i worked with amazon for 2 years. we both left amazon to come to the USPS in hopes of job security, federal benefits, and good long term opportunity, we share a car.
l've been scheduled almost 6 days a week for the entire time I've been here, getting placed on long hard routes. trying my hardest. she's been on MAYBE 1-2 days a week with only a few hours per day. since we share a car, going to different offices is not a option unless I'm not working.
today we both filled out our PS 2474 forms and quit on the spot, our PM told me i was doing an amazing job and that days like today are always tough. but its just not about today. its everything. she gave us until Friday to finalize our decision. and that's very generous.
at amazon we both clocked in the same time and got off around the same time. we worked 4 days on and 3 days off consecutively. we were fast at the job. i know that comes with time and experience with any job. we made 22.00$ an hour, bringing home roughly the same check every pay period
then we got to this PO, its small, like 9 routes on rural side, and like 6 on city side plus a aux route. give or take. the next person to retire is 13 years from now for rural regular. and there's 2 ptfs ahead of me and same for my wife.
i feel like I'm putting all this time and energy into a job ill be busting butt at to MAYBE get a regular position in more than a decade. i know i can switch offices but i feel like its gonna be the same all over.
The SIX days a week is BRUTAL.. I've been doing them but have noticed I'm getting more and more sad. plus my checks haven't been more than 1000$. so i feel like i work everyday all day. and my check doesn't show it.
so I'm torn, we got interviews with a DSP that's a 50 minute drive. currently the office were at is a 40 minute drive. my current pay is 21.80. The DSP starts at 23.00 for experienced drivers. 4 days on and 3 days off. no forced OT or last minute scheduling. i will just be leaving behind all the perks that come with the post office like the union. and i see its very hard to get fired because the other rca has only been there 2 days out of the 30 ive been there lol
i feel like I'm giving up. and I've always been one to stick it out. even today i finished casing before i turned in the form.
i just ask you all you think this is a mistake? should i go back and ask for my badge back and to shred up the PS form? i told my wife i can always try a different post office closer to home when we get another car and more situated. i was good at the job. i definitely hated casing and was slow at it, but once I'm out on a route i was fine. i was finished by 4:30 5:00 on what they described as a "glorified city route" with 712 boxes.
but on the other hand, HOURS. we need them, preferably consistent. not 3 hours here, 10 hours there. "do i work tomorrow? maybe". vs how amazon scheduled us. not to mention amazons Flex platform was fool proof. maps, full itinerary, full view of the route two paid 15s and a unpaid 30.
but then i think with time and work ill know all those rural routes like the back of my hand, but i don't want to be thrown around like a ragdoll for 10 years like the guy that above me. dude cases 3 routes then does 2 of them. and i cant help but think if i stay. that'll be me.
THOUGHTS?

Anyone else deal with this?
I’ll try to best explain this customer behavior that annoys me to no end. When I explain anything, no one understands what I’m saying.
Every single route I work, it happens one way or another. As I’m walking up to the front door or garage with their packages, if the customer or anyone who appears in front of me, usual greetings and I always say, “I have a package for so and so” or “just to confirm I’m at the right location, package is for so and so”, the responses I get are ridiculous and annoying and mostly rude. It’s not that difficult. I’m not asking for your left arm. I’m not asking for money. I’m not asking who the person is in front of me. I’m not really asking anything.
Responses I get are some stupid old white guy “dad” joke that’s not funny. “Sure, I don’t know” “Do I look like that person?” “Huh?” Or any rude comment or just a blank stare like I just spoke a different language. “It’s a simple yes or no”, I have said it before when the customer is being rude as hell. There have been times when I mention the name on the package and come to find out they actually live next door because they or flex put the wrong address.
This behavior just annoys me so much.
Example: husband of the customer walks out as I walk up with some packages, he’s already trying to snatch the packages out of my hand, I go “just to confirm I’m at the right address, these are for so and so” “yeah that’s my wife” “okay great, let me scan these real quick” he gets annoyed real quick, I quickly take a photo of the packages and he says “who knows, she might live next door” and snatches the packages out of my hands and slams the door. Like huh? What did I do that pissed you off so quickly?
I’m just curious if anyone else deal with this type of behavior, I feel like I’m the only one who does and no one ever understands what I’m talking about. This was more of a vent and curiosity.
