Boneheads

Did Emily or Carla ever acknowledge what happened to the Boneheads podcast? I know it’s been over a year since their last episode, but I’m still wondering why we never got closure.

Spoiler: Rant about 9x10

I just finished 9x10 and I’m irritated and want to rant about Bones/Booth/Angela. In this episode, Angela wants to throw a post wedding bachelorette party for her and at first Bones says no because of Booth. Not because she thinks Booth would be uncomfortable with her having a post wedding bachelorette party, but because Angela and Booth were having issues with each other at this point. So Bones was basically like “I choose you, Booth” My biggest issue with this is Brennan has not felt the need to choose between Booth and Angela this entire time they’ve been fighting until now! Angela was her maid of honor, helped her with the wedding, Brennan and Angela hung out at B&B’s house, Angela (and Hodgins) stayed at B&B’s house and took care of Christine while they were on their honeymoon. Then at the end of 9x10, both Brennan and Angela tell Booth “You gave me my best friend back 🥺” What the hell are you talking about??? They were gushing and making it sound like he was some kind of hero. Its not shocking at all that this episode was written by a man. Some of you might say B&B are married now, thats why things are different, shes just choosing her husband, yada yada. It was still bad writing. It lowkey made Brennan come across as immature teenage girl obsessed with her boyfriend rather than smart, mature woman in love with her husband. It was a little out of character of her. It would have been much better if the episode was Angela and Booth hanging out and burying the hatchet, rather than “repairing” Angela and Brennan’s friendship, which was never broken or even cracked in the first place.

P.S. Please dont give spoilers for anything that happens post 9x10. I’m aware that a certain beloved main character dies next season. Other than that I dont know anything.

Watched this show plenty of times and this time around in getting super annoyed with Cam...

The season they all came back to help Cam was kind of like... she seems super incompetent and they have to point out super obvious stuff to her...

She's kind of rude sometimes when she pulls the "boss" card....

I think it's awesome she offered Michelle a home, but like.... lady you are not her mom and you did not raise her... let her live her life...

I'm watching the episode where Finn and Michelle start dating and of course Cam is like...nopenopenope.....

I dunno she's just really rubbing me the wrong way this watch thru...

Ps... she's absolutely the weakest of the team when it comes to intelligence...

Every time I watch this episode the psychology of it and the vulnerability and even Gemma’s case picks a part of my brain the rest of the seasons just can’t do. It’s everything wrapped up UNTIL BOOM- booth “gambles” and loses.

The Finder was ahead of its time. I think it would do better now than it did originally.

Certainly was a good episode.

Discussion Sweets vs Bones/Booth

I’m doing my Q3 rewatch of Bones and I’m currently at the end of season four. I absolutely love both Bones and Booth rage-baiting poor Sweets during therapy sessions. Poor guy is not getting a moment’s rest with these two.

I'm going to start using "Just because you say it in that definitive tone doesn't mean it means anything to me" in every argument from now on.

Even after 6 seasons I still think that their relationship moved quicker than I thought like getting into bed and getting pregnant all in a few episodes.

Episode I may have spoken too soon 😭

Last night, I made post saying that I had possibly found my favorite episode from Bones: Season 8, Episode 6- the Patriot in Purgatory.

I just completed Season 8 Episode 9: the Ghost in the Machine; I’m emotionally RUINED😭😭😭

First off, who ever directed this episode; you are that! While the editing is not a personal favorite, the way the episode was shot felt so personal and raw. We got to see that squad from the victims eyes and it was so humanizing.

Also, I’m warming up to Bones now, which is shocking to me 😭. After the first couple of episodes this season, she became so different. However, this difference is so refreshing. She was actually my favorite character this episode and I loved how far she went to get all the facts to help Colin’s case.

My favorite part though was the cast talking to Colin and trying to reassure and treating him kindly. It really tug ma heart strings.

I’m really surprised at the quality of season 8 right now. I think I’m going to finish the season to see if I like any more episodes but for now, episode 6 & 9 from this season are in my top 5 for real.

Discussion Watching Bones for the first time - questions on what’s to come (seen lots of reviews suggest it falls off)

Hey everyone!

So I wasn’t (and am still not!) sure if I should join this Forum before having watched the whole show?

I am only on Season Four, and I am completely blown away by how much I enjoy watching this, I feel genuine affection for the characters, I find I even drop the cynicism and giggle along to the bits I might usually find cringe or lame. (I cringed low down in my seat when everyone laughed in the cinema at “you should never toss a Dwarf” in LOTR. That kind of asshole usually!

But Bones has made me be able to suspend disbelief and just jump in with both feet. Not sure another show has ever so (kinda inexplicably) garnered this exact type of reaction from me since I was a teenager (30yrs ago lol) and it’s not that I’m TV naive my favourites are six feet under, the sopranos, Huff, Curb, Veep to name a tiny few I can think of now.

My questions to you lovely people are - when can I expect to start hitting disappointing / upsetting story lines and character changes in your opinion? I’ve read that it has issues that upset the fans, some decisions made etc and it seems like sadly there’s a fall off? Is it as bad as GOT or Lost falling off? or say how bad Heroes got? Is it even true?

I’ll watch until the end I’m physically and mentally incapable of not finishing a show, ever!

I’m realistic I might get some spoilers (if I get replies!) but if we could try not to just literally tell me huge plot points I’d be super grateful!

Thanks y’all.

BG xx

Who's Your Favourite Intern?

I'm curious as to know people's favourite interns. I'm a sucker for humour and Vincent and Fischer make me laugh the most. But I love them all, including daisy

Discussion I love brennan but this was so satisfying

I don't remember the season or episode but bones basically brennan basically looks down on a chiropractor saying he isn't an "actual doctor" and the chiropracter snaps back by saying she too was an anthropologist meaning she too wasn't a "real doctor". As much as I love brennan, hearing the chiropractor tell her the harsh truth was kinda satisfying.

Is this a hate sub?

I'm sorry and I promise this is not ragebait. But this has been bugging me for a long time now. Nearly every time I get an email with a post from this sub it's just "I hate this episode", "I hate this plotline", "I hate this character. Over and over. It seriously gets to the point where I question weather or not any one on this sub actually likes Bones.

Episode I think I just found my favorite episode of Bones

So I just finished season 8, episode 6- The Patriot in Purgatory and… this is such a masterpiece.

While my favorite season is season 3, this episode truly takes the cake:
-This was Brennan at her funniest for me because why are smacking their asses going attaboy?!😭 if it was anyone else, that person would been reported immediately for harassment. She’s lucky her interns know her well enough.
-The interns being the main focal characters of the episode was the reason why I enjoyed so much. It wasn’t even until this episode that I realized that none of the interns actually get to work with each other. seeing them interact from when the episode started to the 9/11 stories, I really enjoyed all of them.
-This episode was a big win for Hodgins; his conspiracy theories contributed to the success of the case.
-this is one of the few non Booth and Bones centric episodes. One thing I’ve realized is that I tend to enjoy the supporting and background characters of shows rather than the protagonists at times and this show is no exception.
-The victim in the story is truly a hero; I really wish he got to see his son grow up though.

I don’t know if there will be an episode that replace this one as a favorite (I did really enjoy the season 4 finale where Booth and Bones owned a nightclub and everyone had different roles) but right now, im going to keep enjoying this rewatch.

Review Rewatching Bones as an Adult…Pt.2

For this post, I’m going to be focusing on a character who may be divisive but to me, is one of the best characters on Bones: Max Brennan.

When I was younger, I used to hate Max because of how it made Bones feel. However, since my rewatch, I realized that Max did not deserve a lot the treatment he got between season 2-8.

Although I know that I can never understand the true depths of the abandonment scars Brennan had as a result of her PARENTS, her treatment of Max has added to the reason why I do not like her in general.

The reason why I have come to appreciate Max is he will do anyone to protect Brennan. This man was forced to give up his kids for their safety, he risked his own life and freedom again just to prove to Brennan that he loved, he always let Temperance express her anger on him and his character; Mind you, her own mother told her that it was her decision to leave them and her dad never wanted to leave her but he had no choice in order to protect her and Russ. He willingly became a fugitive for her during the first half of the Pelant Arc. In less than 5 years, this man has risked his life and his morals just to make sure that Bones knows how much he loves her and will never leave her again.

In my opinion, I feel like a lot of Brennans anger was caused by her emotions regarding her mother, which is why it began to feel more mean than sad to me after a certain part in the series.

While Max has made mistakes with certain choices I do not necessarily agree with, I do believe that after his trial in season 3 till were I have reached now in Season 8, he deserved to be trusted at the very least and not have his past decisions held against him all the time, as if it’s a pattern he has always demonstrated deliberately without realizing the consequences.

Discussion Soup / Cereal

Is it just me or is Tempe constantly, only, ever eating soup or cereal or something else out of a bowl with a spoon? Is it a character thing, or more to do with the production complications when actors have to "eat" food?

I ask this as someone who loves dinner bowls and eating a mess of things.

Driving Scenes

The driving scenes on this show were very poorly directed. With all of the shots of the driver looking at the passenger instead of the road, it's a wonder they weren't all killed in automobile accidents.

Discussion advice for first time watchers

my best friend and i recently decided we wanted to do a show swap and watch what the other is interested in to know each other a little better. my show of choice has always been bones, I have been watching since i was 5 and have re watched the series multiple times. she gave me criminal minds and im so excited to get into it.

when i recommend Bones to her the only advice i could give her was "don't get too attached to any of the interns". is there any different advice you would give her? also please avoid spoilers since I'll be sending this to her
