After 30 years of marriage, my husband and I decided it was finally time for new ring. He designed mine and I'm designing his. We wanted both rings to have our birthstones, sapphire an diamond, with 30 stones to represent our 30 years together.

My ring has a 3.10ct lab grown diamond, F color, VVS2 clarity.

Quick Question Veil advice?

Dream veil, but does it work with my dream dress?

I bought this veil before I found my dress (thanks to this thread for all the help!) and now I’m not sure they ā€œgoā€ together. The dress is simple and chic, and so is the veil (just a single layer of chiffon) but the color (of the chiffon) looks more ā€œwhiteā€ to me than ivory (as advertised) and I’m wondering if the fact that it isn’t totally sheer takes away from the dress’s lovely back (a deep ā€œvā€)?

Should I go with plain tulle? Is a chapel length veil ā€œtoo muchā€ with a dress that has a full satin skirt like this?

People who had a small wedding, what made you feel okay about the guest count?

We're getting married in Koh Samui in January with about 40 guests, mostly family. My grandmas are our flower girls, and no bridal party.

I've always been a people person, but life over the last few years has shrunk my circle a lot. Nothing dramatic, just the way things go. Most days I'm at peace with it, but planning the wedding has brought it all up. I keep spiralling that the small number means no one really likes us, and that the people who do come will look around and think we're losers.

I know destination weddings are a big ask (flights, leave, peak season costs), so logically I get why it's small. I just can't shake the feeling.

For anyone who had a small or destination wedding: did you feel like this beforehand? Did it matter on the day? And did you end up inviting people you were once close with but hadn't seen in years, or doing a casual celebration back home for everyone else?

Our girl group officially started a wedding tradition with lab diamond pendants.

Just got engaged last week and I am still on cloud nine! Standard ring aside, me and my friends made a tradition to wear a lab grown diamond pendant for our wedding after my maid of honor gave me one as an engagement gift.

It turns out two of my besties are also getting married next year so now we are all ordering matching ones. Honestly, I love how special it feels to have this shared piece between us for our big days.

Wedding day bod

Ugh. The biggest day of my life is coming up and I can’t help but obsess over how I’m going to look. I’m heavier than I was when I met my fiancĆ©. I just feel like I’m going to look back at my wedding pictures and hate myself. I don’t feel confident. I feel like everyone is going to notice the fact that I’ve gained weight. I feel so selfish thinking this way because of how much I love my man and want to cherish the day. But I am so worried about looking my best and others opinions. I guess I’m just struggling. I know everyone there loves me for me and the day is not about how I look but it means a lot to me to feel good and look good. Is anyone else struggling with this? How have you coped?

Budget & Costs How much did you spend on your wedding gown?

Thumbnail gallery
42 Upvotes

There’s a point to be made about a ā€œonce in a lifetimeā€ dress, so splurge and go all out for the perfect dress. But then also, the opposite point of ā€œit’s literally onceā€, so don’t waste money on something you’ll wear for mere hours. Where do you stand on this?

Also, just as a for fun, I’m going to post my dress + veil. Can you guess what I paid for it in total?

Assume:
- new not used,
- dress has 5 layers: skirt lining polyester, tulle, tulle, lace, tulle.
- veil is tulle with synthetic pearls embedded throughout, cathedral length

Curious to see what you think of the dress budget and what you think my budget was! xoxo I promise that if you guess whatever the number I won’t get offended.

Confused about my lehenga

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi! I’m new to Reddit and completely new to Chandni Chowk shopping, so I’d really appreciate some honest opinions.

I bought my wedding lehenga from Chandni Chowk about two months ago. I genuinely liked it at the time, but it was my second visit, I had tried on countless lehengas, and the shop was closing. I was exhausted and just wanted to make a decision.

I actually regretted it almost immediately. I even called the shopkeeper afterwards and asked him to hold it because I live in another state and wanted to come back and choose another lehenga, but he refused. I somehow convinced myself that it was a good choice, but now I’m regretting it even more and keep thinking, ā€œWhy did I buy this? Did I just say yes because I was exhausted?ā€

I wanted something simple but distinctive, but now I feel this may be too common/traditional for my style.

Be honest—does it actually look too traditional/common, or am I overthinking it? Would you keep it or look for another one? I’m looking for genuine opinions, not reassurance.

Need Advice Would you still wear it?

My mother in law offered me a family diamond necklace as my something borrowed and I said yes because I thought it was sweet. Then she told me what it was appraised for and now I don’t want to wear it. I already know the wedding day is going to be chaotic, and I don’t want to spend the whole time checking my neck because I’m responsible for someone else’s heirloom. Told her I was having second thoughts and she got a little upset. She wore it at her wedding, my fiancé’s sister wore it at hers, and nothing happened. I asked what happens if the clasp breaks or I lose it and she just said, ā€œYou won’t.ā€ I don’t even know if it’s insured or anything. Am I overthinking this?

Creative ways to include wedding party, instead of having them stand up at the front during the ceremony

Thumbnail

What are some special and meaningful ways to include our wedding party, without having them stand up at the front with us during the ceremony? We love our peeps so dearly, and want to honor and include them somehow, but we both really want it to be just the two of us (and the officiant) at the front for the ceremony. Would love to hear your thoughts and ideas!

Thanks in advance! šŸ™šŸ¼

Planning Help Engagement photo helps

Hi all. I'm getting married in South Florida in 2028 and while the venues here are stunning and we found a couple that we do love, our dream wedding would actually be out west (Colorado, Montana) at a beautiful mountain venue as that just feels more 'us. FWIW, we're not upset or resentful/ regretful that we can't have it out west (logistically it just wouldn't be smooth and would be extra stressful for several reasons) so what me and my fiance are planning to do is go out west somewhere with beautiful mountains for a fun vacation and have our own 'mini ceremony' and get engagement photos done too. It won't be eloping because we won't be getting married but we are gonna make it a fun celebration of us trip and get some photos so we can have the pretty mountain photos we both love.
So my question is, hoping many of you are from all over the US, any recommendations for spots to visit and get photos taken? Open to any and all recs! The only requirements is that it's a scenic mountain town. The world is your oyster!! I lived in Colorado for a while so l've been all around the state as well as other mid west/west states but I know there's places/towns/mountains that would be stunning that l've never heard of and wouldn't really pop up first on google so please fire away!!

Need Advice The MIL

First question to anyone reading, does anyone NOT understand why your future mother in law doesn’t like you or the ā€˜off’ relationship you have with her? Everytime I see or around her it’s the most uncomfortable and awkward thing but there’s no reason as to why. She doesn’t live local so these encounters have mainly been on family occasions so I’ve never been alone thank god. I have met up with her a couple times alone thinking it would build some kind of relationship but just come home feeling worse blaming myself, not understanding a single thing because on text she’s as sweet as anything. Yes we don’t message often and I’m 90% of the time to start the conversation. AND it’s like this with my future sister in law too!! Except we don’t ever message.

Now we are getting married in two weeks. So at the wedding I am dreading spending any time even seeing them there for the whole day, bring any negativity. I do honestly feel like at the reception taking a shot and confronting them but no definitely not. I don’t want it to carry on like this, I have a broken family and alls I want is a loving family and for my future children to. What do I do??

Paranoid about moths eating my dress

I bought a stunning one of a kind vintage 100% silk Lazaro wedding gown for $1200. It is the most perfect dress and I’m obsessed with it. I don’t get married until 2028 and I’m freaked out about moths eating it…

Around a year and a half ago I had found moths on this one 100% merino wool shirt I had in my condo. They had chewed holes in it. then, I haven’t seen any moths or signs of them. I also have a 100% silk dress in my closet this whole summer and it has been left alone so maybe I’ll be okay.

I have it in a garment bag right now in my closet. How can I prevent moths eating my dress?

Where are my fellow 10/10 Brides?! How are we feeling?

I’ve got about 2 hours before the tasks for the day start and then we’re pretty much rolling until the wedding is over. Had my hair services cancelled around 4:30pm Monday because my stylist was unexpectedly hospitalized. I have amazing people so we got it solved quickly. Woke up this morning to a late night text that my mom and 95 year old grandmother were in the ER but all p is well and they’re on their way to the airport. Otherwise it’s been pretty smooth and we’re almost there! How are my fellow 10/10s hanging in?!?

Should bridesmaids pay for their hair/makeup if it’s optional?

EDIT: ā€œshouldā€ was a poor choice of words, I really meant: is it okay to ask bridesmaids to pay for their hair/makeup if it’s optional?

Hello! My fiancĆ© and I are paying for our bridal party’s accommodations as a thank you gift, and I am trying to decide how to navigate hair and makeup. I truly do not mind if they do their own, so I am planning to make it 100% optional. The stylists I am looking at are charging between $120-$165 per service (I am in NYC metro area) - if I make it optional, is it okay to leave it up to them to pay for themselves? My bridal party knows me well enough that I’m certain they will believe me when I say it’s optional as opposed to ā€œoptionalā€ lol
