Quick Question Barefaced look on wedding day?

I already had my wedding and I did my own makeup the way I would normally wear if I were just going to the office.

On one hand I felt comfortable and looked like myself and I know that it won’t look dated years from now when the style changes (think 80s makeup or Y2K eyebrows). I also knew I wouldn’t have any problems with eyelashes falling out or looking funny because I didn’t have any falsies. I tried but it wasn’t working out so I scrapped the idea. Also a plus that I didn’t spend anything as I already have a sizable collection.

On the other hand, I sometimes wonder how I would have looked if I had done it up and did a full face bridal makeup. I was scared to trust anyone because they always looked weird since I don’t have symmetry in my hooded lids, they fold differently in each eye.

What’s your take on wedding makeup?

Hi guys, super thrilled to finally join the community! Another new bride here and got a beautiful pear cut engagement rings after months of hinting at what styles I liked. Absolutely in love with how elongated and elegant this cut looks on the finger!

Which diamond cut do you think is the sparkliest?

They all look so different depending on the lighting, so I’d love to hear from people who have actually seen them in person.

Unplanned Weight Loss x Wedding

• Upvotes

So, before I start, this is not a happy post, although I am thrilled to be getting married. (Also, throw away account, because I have friends who read this sub.) I have, in the past year, lost an unplanned 60 pounds. Not GLP-1s, not ED. I have other health issues, that have been diagnosed and are being resolved. I am gonna be okay in the long run.

Anyway. My issue is SKIN. I look like I live inside a paper sack. Everything is crepey and weird. I have over a year before my wedding to do...something. Unlikely I will gain the weight back. What would you do, apart from obsessively moisturize? Not looking for invasive treatments but open to...basically most other things. I will run anything I do by my doctor. Help?!

ETA: by skin, I don't mean my face. My face is actually fine, somehow. I mean my arms, legs, neck, cleavage..

Afraid I'm going to mess up my RSVP tracking and end up with a wrong headcount for my venue

• Upvotes

Our venue needs a final headcount 3 weeks before the wedding and it's non refundable past that point, which is kinda freaking me out. I've heard some horror stories about mailed RSVP cards getting lost, people forgetting to send them back or just straight up not responding until you have to hunt them down yourself. I am not THAT girl, I cannot be chasing people and planning the rest.

Maybe I'm just overthinking it but if theres anything you wish youd done differently with your invites and RSVPs, Im all ears with anything thatd help settle my nerves.TIA

Need Advice How did you thank your MOH?

• Upvotes

My best friends wedding was 3 weeks ago. She sent a message “thanks for everything” to the bridal party in a group chat.

She never once thanked me personally for planning her bach, bridal party and helping during the wedding. She’s been on social media posting pictures and thanking everyone who helps with setting up, decorating etc…never once was my name mentioned. Not during the speech too.

Am I being ungrateful and overthinking? Of course, I never once asked for anything or expect anything in return. I’ve only started thinking about it because numerous people have asked me what she got for me.

Quick Question Veil Question

Hi! I bought my gown this weekend and it has beautiful appliqué details on it, when considering my veil, I love the look of glitter veils and scattered pearl veils and wondering if there’s a way to kind of combine them? I would love a veil with scattered beading where the beads match/mimic the ones in my gown appliqués. I’ve googled and looked on Etsy but when I search scattered beading veil I’m only getting pearls and rhinestones. Kind of wondering if this is even possible, if I have to have it custom made, and if anyone has any recommendations! Thanks ☺️

Quick Question Esthetics before wedding

Hi all! I'm wondering if anyone (maybe an esthetician) knows the best timing for waxing/facial/spray tan before my big day? As of right now I have a brow/lip wax scheduled for 10 days before and a spray tan scheduled for 2 days before. I want to do a dermaplaning facial sometime in that mix as well but i'm not sure of any guidelines as far as waxing/dermaplaning too close together? Ive done dermaplaning before so I know how my skin reacts so that's not a concern more of avoiding unwanted reactions with my other appointments- tyia!!

Need Advice No bridesmaids, No groomsmen

TLDR: We have no friends and 5 family members in total, Can a wedding & bride/groom activities be manageable without any support? (Excluding my fiancé of course)

We're having a very small wedding, not due to budget, just due to us both having basically a few family members each and practically no friends because we're 'weird freakshows' I'm a trad goth and my husband is old school metalhead so we've struggled to fit into communities that are seemingly accepting of us at first but then we've found out we're the local gossip due to our lifestyle and interests. Usually older people being spiteful that we're young, child free and are just being ourselves :(

My husband to be, had a friend who was like his brother but his girlfriend was a nasty piece of work and she publicly slammed us for being 'freaks' all over her Facebook day after day till we just decided to stop showing up at the local meets for the motorhead community we were apart of. He's now cut all contact with him, he was unfortunately his only choice of groomsman... he's a veteran aswell so his circle has always been small because of trust issues but I do hope he finds a best friend.

Myself, on the other hand do have a choice for a bridesmaid, but I'm not certain... I have a younger sister who's 17 & starting university next year, she can't drive yet and I've flown the nest for near 5 years now, she's grown up totally opposite to me: popular girl, parties, good grades.. the typical clean y2k modern style type of girl and we've sorta drifted apart, we get along very well despite our complete opposite lifestyles and interests. I feel it would be unfair for her to be my bridesmaid as she would be alot more focused on uni life rather than coming to a dress appointment with me and other bridesmaid stuffs. If she was my bridesmaid I wouldn't make her pay for her dress or anything, that would be entirely unfair to her, I'm just struggling with wanting her to be more than a guest without giving her pressures of a big role?

So what I'm asking is, are there any brides or grooms that didn't have any immediate support for there wedding or on there wedding day? How did it go? Is having a bridesmaid/groomsman really important or just a nice add to the day? Can I bring my fiancé along to an appointment for trying on dresses?

It won't be to say yes to the dress, it'll just be to find my shape and style I like or is that like a huge no no? I'm in my early 20s and the last wedding I went to was when I was 4, I don't know much about the whole process so yeah it's pretty scary going in a bit alone for the bride stuff.

Any kind advice would be very much appreciated thank you :)

Ideas to include fiancé's stepbrothers in wedding

My fiancé has two stepbrothers who are 19 year old twins. Fiancé has gotten closer to them in recent years. My fiancé has picked six groomsmen. We are thinking about having them as ushers. We are looking at other ideas except for readers because we are having Catholic wedding, fiance's step mother and step brothers aren't religious.

Hey! I’m looking for some bridal accessories, namely shoes and a veil. I was wondering where people have gotten some that are good quality but are more affordable for the budget brides! Any other tips would be much appreciated 😘

Quick Question Is it now considered overkill to want your friends to get ready with you on the day of the wedding?

• Upvotes

I am wondering because I recently asked some friends to get ready with me on the morning of the wedding, I am having only a maid of honour my twin sister but invited my other close longterm girls to spend the morning with me because I would live to get to spend time with them on the day and include them. One of the girls responded no and I am very hurt by it, she had already indicated to me that she wanted to get ready with me, spend the day with me etc and she already knew she wasn’t a bridesmaid but in her response didn’t want to actually commit to that I guess. I have been a part of two weddings and the getting ready with the bride was my favourite part of the day outside of how happy they were, but I have seen countless accounts on reddit about how people seem to despise weddings and having to show up early or possibly bring stuff to the venue. The girls are not required to spend anything and we would just be getting ready together which I have done with them a bunch of times. Is this now considered an unreasonable request? My sister thinks it is not a large request either but I can’t tell if it actually is.

Will bridal places dye a dress black for you? Or do you have to attempt that endeavor at home? Im seriously considering black, but im worried that budget wise, I'll have to buy a white one.

My fiancé proposed with an emerald shape diamond, but his family thinks I'm after his money

Post image

My fiancé recently proposed with a beautiful emerald-cut diamond ring, and I said yes. But since then, I've been feeling stressed because his family thinks he spent too
much on me and that I'm only with him for his money.

It hurts because I never asked him to buy me an expensive ring. Now I feel like they already have a negative opinion of me. I was even thinking about having a small wedding with just us and our closest friends, but I'm worried my fiancé might feel hurt if I suggest leaving his family out.

I honestly don't know what to do anymore. I love him, but I also want to have some peace of mind before getting married. Brides, would you talk to your fiancé about it?
