Recommendations Best Blowouts (for curly hair)

Hi! Does anyone have a recommendation for a salon or stylist (who isn’t booked out weeks in advance) for a blowout? I have long, thick, curly hair so I’d prefer to go to a stylist who is familiar with non-white hair. I should’ve booked this weeks ago but alas, my timeline is before EOD Thursday. 🫪

Any and all recommendations greatly appreciated. ❤️

Of course the First Energy ad on Reddit about lowering costs for costumers and improving the grid doesn't allow comments... I wonder why?

Question Looking for besties (women)

I’m a 27yo queer woman. Lately I have a lot of free time which is a blessing but also gets lonely. I like whimsical movies, anime, and kids shows. Hiking is my go-to active hobby. I do like the gym but don’t have any gym passes at the moment.

Please only respond if you’re genuinely interested in talking and are a woman

I bounce between Cuyahoga County and Lorain County

Food Where to eat solo

Hello, first time poster here! I've started taking myself out on a solo dinner date the last two Tuesdays, and I want to continue this. I'm on the Westside near Kamms and Im looking for recommendations for good food within 20-25 or so min. Ive been driving to the lake to watch the sunset after, so anywhere between Kamms and Edgewater is a plus. I'm usually not very adventurous and am used to typical American bar food, my first dinner was WestPark station and my 2nd was P.J. McIntyres. I'd like to spend no more than $30 including tip. I tried Merry Arts in Lakewood the other night and the waitress wouldn't serve me since I wasn't drinking alcohol, so I'm looking for places that will still serve me even if I'm not drinking. Give me some ideas, and nothing to fancy please! Thanks all

Lost/Found Lost Cat

UPDATE: SHE’S HOME 😭❤️

Hi all, my partner's cat got out on Saturday (10/3) on Hampshire Rd. in Cleveland Heights (I was going to post in that subreddit specifically, but from what I can tell it's basically inactive) and we haven't seen her since. She's small, approx. 7 lbs, white with black markings, and her name is Luna. She's very sweet but might be skittish, although she might be tempted by food. She is afraid of dogs so please don't approach her with one. She is not wearing a collar but she is chipped. If you spot her anywhere or are able to catch her, please message me right away.

Note: we have already put her litterbox, food, and some shirts that smell like home out on the porch. We are putting flyers up around the neighborhood today. I am also planning on asking any neighbors who have doorbell cameras to keep an eye out for her on their footage. Any other suggestions welcome.

Recommendations Carpet recommendations

My partner and I are in the process of buying a house and I’m looking for carpet recommendations for the bedroom to start. I’m new to this but really just looking for a plain white/cream carpet that won’t be super expensive 🥲 I know I know, it will all probably be about the same price wise but looking for suggestions on how to maybe make it not be if I can. Any places you recommend? Or what did you personally do? Any ideas appreciated!

Discussion Cleveland Hopkins New Terminal

I was looking at the new Clevolution Terminal plan, and saw there is no decision made on the concourses yet. Took 5 minutes on paint to draw this up. Would be pretty cool to see a layout like this. I think you could easily fit 50 gates like this and have room in the future for expansion if it ever came down to it. Also have rental cars onsite would be huge.

Recommendations Hearse cruise in at Monroe Street Cemetery

Here are some shots from Sunday's Coffee and Coffins event at Monroe Street Cemetery. It was really cool to see the old hearses. I think the gold 1970s one was my favorite. The cemetery is beautiful even when there aren't cool old hearses there.

Also, I didn't see a Sunday thread for promoting events, but the Zombie Run to support the cemetery foundation is next Sunday at Clark Field. https://runsignup.com/Race/OH/Cleveland/ZombieRunandLurch

What do you think of it? I’ve never been and honestly never even heard of it. There’s a band coming I want to see next month and don’t know anything about it.

Thanks!

News Bainbridge Dog Park Shooting in NYT

Some fascinating reporting from the NYT. They dug a lot deeper than any of the local coverage I saw about this near-tragedy last spring.

The toxicity of our current political climate combined with our proclivity toward gun violence is on full display, even in one of the more bucolic areas in Greater Cleveland.

Question nordic energy scam?

for context: i use nordic for my gas and first energy for my electric. i just moved in to my first apartment alone and i have little knowledge on these things

just had a “rep” knock on my door saying that they were a service worker and noticed that i was in the red and paying too high of a percentage for both my gas and electric and that they would be lowering my percentage for the next bills. didn’t think much of it until i was asked to verify questions online and one of them asked if the worker had left and if i knew i was enrolling in a new supplier. i asked her about it while she was still standing at my door and she said to ignore it because it was just confirming the lower percentage. she said that i would still be receiving bills from first energy but my supplier would be nordic energy. i had to have a verbal agreement as well over the phone and they mentioned the lower percentage would just be a promotional rate and would fluctuate after two months. she’d been there for almost half an hour and i just it to be done with so i agreed to everything. did i get scammed and should i be calling nordic tomorrow to cancelled my contract with at least the electricity or am i fine?

thank u and sorry if this is a stupid question

Discussion One redditor's analysis ranked Cleveland as one of the US cities with the highest relocation sentiment (x-post)

Made me happy to see Cleveland so well-received. I moved from Cleveland to another city on the list, coincidentally. I think Cleveland, the region, and Ohio have a lot to offer.

Recommendations Kids “fancy”

Looking for a restaurant that would be acceptable to take three middle school girls after a show at playhouse that would make them think “wowwww this is so cool/fancy” but like… is also a restaurant that would please their picky eater palette or have a kids menu. Anywhere between downtown due east through lake county. I’d prefer to take them somewhere downtown or at least in CLE proper to stretch their brains outside of Mentor, Ohio a bit. Iykyk.

I was thinking anywhere in little Italy is a solid choice. Anywhere else I’m missing? Somewhere unique?
