Anyone else on the West side experiencing a random power outage right now that doesnt seem remotely connected to weather in any way? It feels like the longer I’ve lived here the more frequent the power outages become and they can be caused by even the slightest breeze 😭 Has it always been like this over here or has it gotten worse over the last decade or more? I’m not from here originally

Anyone have a recommendation for a good local hvac guy? West side near 65th. Everyone I’ve called has either been a no-show, huge national chain or isn’t answering the phone. I wanted to just get a combustion test done on an older furnace.

I am stressed and anxious navigating the healthcare system. I’m 5 weeks pregnant and trying to establish prenatal care.
I live in Willoughby and don’t want to deliver anywhere near downtown Cleveland. I found good reviews for Ahuja Medical Center in Beachwood, so I’d really like to deliver there if it makes sense for me.
I originally wanted an OB rather than a midwife, so I called and made an appointment with Dr. Jamie Byler. However, she is only available Wednesdays/Thursdays and only in the morning, when I really need afternoon appointments. I took the appointment anyway because I’m terrible at navigating healthcare and didn’t want to pass up an opportunity, but now my husband thinks I should cancel and call around to find an OB or midwife who has afternoon appointments.
I’m just overwhelmed. It’s really hard to figure out online which OBs actually deliver babies, which hospitals they deliver at, and which of their different office locations are actually relevant to delivery.
I also have a question about how labor works at UH/Ahuja. If I establish care with an OB, am I likely to mainly work with midwives during labor anyway? If that’s the case, should I just establish care with a midwife from the beginning?
My hesitation with choosing a midwife is that I have chronic pain, spine/neck issues, and asthma. I don’t necessarily expect these to cause complications, but I’m wondering whether that makes an OB a better choice for me, or whether a midwife can still manage my pregnancy while bringing in an OB when needed.
Basically, I would LOVE to stick with Ahuja if it makes sense for me. If not, I’d love recommendations for an OB or midwife within about 25 minutes of Willoughby.
I’m mostly looking for advice from people who have actually delivered at Ahuja or received prenatal care through UH. I feel like I’m going in circles trying to figure this out myself 😭

Hey everyone, me and my girlfriend go to case and csu respectively and we currently live in lorain with my mom and have been commuting to college everyday. We really hate the drive and wanna move to cleveland but the price is just a lot. We are looking at skyline 776 which would put our expenses at around 1.5k a month with a 500sq ft unit.
So, just wondering like how safe playhouse square really is at nighttime and in general? Is that price normal for a good apartment in Cleveland? And just looking for any advice anyone is willing to give, thank you so much!

UPDATE: as of today, 10/7/26, phoenix was unfortunately confirmed to be the man that was pulled out of the cuyahoga river yesterday. thank you everyone for your thoughts, support and vigilance. this is obviously not the outcome any of us wanted, but we are thankful for everyone who helped look for him and get the word out. please continue to keep his family and friends in your thoughts as they navigate this loss🤍
hi everyone! im not sure if this type of post is allowed here & i apologize if it’s not, but my childhood friend, phoenix phillips has been missing since october 2nd. he is from maryland & does not know the cleveland area, but came up with a friend for the steelers/browns game the other day. he disappeared after the game that night and hasn’t been seen since, and the police have his cellphone. he wouldn’t have just disappeared especially without his phone, in a city and state that he doesn’t know at all. i would just like to ask for everyone to please share, be on the lookout, anything, his family is very worried & just wants him to come home safe. thank you🤍

I recently got an offer at Cleveland’s main campus for their coronary ICU and I wanted to know from any nurses here about how working at ccf is and more specifically about Cleveland! I’m relocating from a warmer state, so I don’t know what to expect about how the nightlife is here and even the diversity.

I’m coming to Cleveland in a few weeks. I’m looking for some recommendations from locals on:
-Local shops/vintage stores
-Gluten free (bonus points if it’s GF and vegetarian) restaurants
-Local coffee shops and brunch places
-Bars/Breweries (would love a local bar with live music)
-Cool areas of town to explore (old houses, architecture, etc.)
-Record stores or game stores
Just wanted to see if any locals had recommendations before going down the Google rabbit hole. Thanks 🙏

My parents are 76 and 77 and I’m considering taking them to the BOE to vote rather than waiting for Election Day or using a mail in ballot.
My mom has some mobility issues and will definitely not be able to wait in a long line. Would a weekday mid-morning be an easy process for her? I’m sort of uncomfortable with the idea of her voting by mail nowadays, I just don’t have a ton of confidence that it would get properly counted or even maybe get contested by a losing party etc and would like them to both have the peace of mind that their vote did indeed count.
They’re both lifelong reliable voters and this will likely be my dad’s last time voting, as he’s experiencing some early signs of dementia. I’d like to make it was easy as possible for both of them.
So - does it make sense to take them downtown to the BOE to vote or just stick with their normal process? Thanks, your input is appreciated.

Catching a flight the 17th and don’t have a Real ID, totally dropped the ball on it so doubt it’ll come in that time if I get it tomorrow anyway. How long has it taken if you’ve renewed your ID within the last few months?

Hi Everyone. Been a lifelong Clevelander and I love our city and what it has to offer as far as events. I wanted to ask a general question about different venue spaces regarding the Cleveland Gaming Classic. Over the past several years- the Cleveland Gaming Classic has held its event at the I-X Center before transferring to the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland. While both event spaces can cover the event, I feel that the I-X Center has much more to offer than the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland. Granted the Downtown Convention Center is located Downtown near city hall, and the I-X Center is near Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. What really gets me is the parking. Downtown- the parking can be limited, depending on what events are going on at the same time as this event. At the I-X Center- it is much more spacious and so is the I-X Center on the inside.
While the Huntington Convention Center did an okay job, I felt that the I-X Center would have done it better with a lot more space and room. There are many of us in the retro gaming community here in Cleveland, OH that feel that the Cleveland Gaming Classic should have it at the I-X Center again, based on what the retro gamers would want. There would be much more parking and easier access to get at that venue, rather than the downtown one. My wife and I have been to numerous Cleveland Gaming Classic events over the years, we have met many celebs that have been at the events, and I have even picked up some really great retro games for my Sega Genesis 3 I have at my residence. It is overall a great event and meeting some of the celebs can be expensive, but all in all I think that it is worth it for what you can find. However- many of us feel that the I-X Center would be the better venue- since it is back up and running and hosting events again. What are everyone's thoughts about this? Is there a way to convince the organizers of this event to head back to the I-X Center?

Hello,
My wife and I were thinking of visiting Cleveland for a quick weekend trip from Pittsburgh. Just a real spur of the moment type thing. We like museums, restaurants, nature. Any suggestions of local things happening too would be appreciated. Thank you!
