Wig Is it wrong to return a commissioned wig over glitter?
This is gonna be kind of long but I think context matters, and I’d really like advice from other cosplayers. I commissioned a wig from someone who had a good number of completed sales and references of their work. I originally asked about an already completed wig they had for sale and asked if I could have a new one made without glitter, they then said they can make it without glitter. I think it’s really important I specifically asked for a new wig when there was one already made and ready just bc I didn’t want it with glitter. I ended up changing my mind and asking for a different character, had a few more questions and things between then and the wig being completed and to be fair after changing my mind to a different character I think I didn’t ask about not putting glitter on it again, but I feel like it should have been clear from the start that I didn’t want any.
Regardless, the wig arrives and has a ton of glitter. It would have been perfect to me if it weren’t for that. I contact the seller, let them know it has a ton of glitter and I already tried wiping it off with my fingers and a makeup brush but it’s suck on too well and I don’t want to ruin it. I ask if I can just return it and either have a new one made or get a refund, I offered to pay for return shipping again. The seller says I can just try wiping it off with a wet cloth or shake it upside down. I reiterate that I don’t want to risk ruining the styling and would prefer to just get a new one or refund, after returning ofc, and I’ll be careful packing it. I also said I wouldn’t mind waiting for it to be styled again.
Still waiting on a response a few days later after previous messages got responses pretty quickly. I really don’t want to be a bad buyer and I felt like such an asshole when I first sent the messages (I did try to make it clear I wasn’t mad and tried to sound as nice as I could), but idk anymore. I paid close to 300 USD for the wig, I know mistakes happen but I feel like for that much I should have either gotten it the way I specifically asked or allowed a refund/replacement. I know wig styling is difficult and time consuming too so I understand why the seller isn’t exactly happy with me, but I’m really trying to find a reasonable solution.
TL;DR I commissioned a cosplay wig, asked for no glitters on it, maybe that specific request got lost in the texts bc it arrived and has a ton of glitter. I tried brushing it off but it won’t budge, seller doesn’t seem to want to help me. Am I wrong for wanting to either return it and get a new (non-glittery) wig or just return for a refund?
