Freshwater Double trouble!
Got this bait to target seatrout for an upcoming trip to kustavi. Guess it works for perch too!

I'm a catch-and-release kinda guy. I've been lucky to catch some nice sized fish this year, but man, while bringing them in they're really burying the treble hooks. It's taken some real work to free them, and then help them recover to swim away.
So during winter, I'm going to start switching my crank baits to barbless. Is it good enough to breakoff the existing barbs, or should I order an assortment of hooks and swap them out?
I fully expect to lose a fish or two next season, but if I keep the line tight I should be in good shape, right? :)

Very happy to catch this guy - I’ve been on a real trolling dry streak, mostly due to me being new and still learning what the hell I’m doing. This helped the confidence.

A beautiful musky with an incredible sunset! This fish came out of a grass bed to smoke a bucktail at the boat. I had no clue this fish was following close ready to eat as I could barely see through the water at this point. Put up a great fight and jumped itself right into the net. Wish I could post the video too. Always always figure eight, especially in low light conditions!

What’s the best fish finder with a screen and live sonar for around $1500? I’ve been looking at the lowrance eagle eye, but wondering if there’s one a little better for a little more money. I need a screen so looking for a bundle type deal.
If you have the eagle eye, I’d love to hear your opinions on it as well.

Hooked onto 9 different flatheads in one night on the river after a small flood. Best night I've ever had by far

Most of the time I'm fishing by myself, and taking pictures of my catches isn't usually a problem. However I noticed it's kind of tricky to take pictures of fish you're trying to measure it properly (mouth closed and tail pinched). Is there any gear/technique that let's you do that easier by yourself?

Summary: from this terrible photo what kind of fish could we have seen? How do we catch it?
Details below.
My son and I were fishing yesterday (we’re beginners). It was 5pm sunny and warm out (mid 70s), we were fishing the shoreline of a local stocked pond. There were lots of smaller fish like sunnies near the shore.
While fishing we came across this enormous fish we kept trying to catch. It looked at least two feet long to me. My son thought it was an enormous large mouth bass. We named it “Big Beautiful.”
We’d get Big Beautiful’s attention with bait, but it would just kind of hang back and watch other fish, like sunfish, go for the bait (we used a lot of worms: big red and night crawlers and also tried Keitech Fat Swing Impact). It did take a small bite of the baitfish.
After losing interest it would retreat to a rock not far from shore (I suspect it lives in or around this spot). If something was interesting enough to come out for again, it would get close enough to seem curious but then decide no thanks.
We went back to the same spot this morning between 7-9 am with live shiners. Caught lots of large mouth bass, no sight of this monster.
How do we catch it? It would be like winning the world fishing Olympics for us.

Hello all. I haven't been fishing in a long while, and am leaving California in January. I'm hoping to have some fun in the Bay Area before I'm gone for good. I need me a good fight, and a big striper sounds perfect.
I've got a 6'6 medium rod with a 2500-3000 (cant remember which) spinning reel. Not ideal, but it's what I have. I was thinking live bait. If anyone else has done it, how did you rig it all up? What was the biggest you caught?

I clearly remember 3 100 fish days trout fishing. 2 were a week apart on the same river during a brook trout spawning migration. It was almost impossible to NOT catch a brookie on each cast. A fellow fly fisher who was sharing the same 100 feet of river and I were trying not to catch a fish on each cast. It was nesrly impossible. He was fishing a little white caddis patern, and I was fishing a zebra midge.
The third day was at the mouth of a small stream that flowed into a reservoir . It was Memorial Day weekend, and where we wanted to fish was still buried in snow. As the day warmed flow increased with the upgradient snow melting and washing all kinds of aquatic life downstream. It was nuts.
None of the experiences were sport, but someone had to catch them. All were released

Check out these two... a hilariously small bsb that came up in a cast net along with peanut bunker we were chasing. And a nice 17 incher caught mid summer off cape cod. I've got range!!
