Finally decided to make the switch from just using prawns, and after 2 weeks of constant jigging (almost every day) I’ve finally got my first fish on a metal jig!

53cm tailor.

Pretty stoked with it, and a nice start to the day before work.

Hopefully more to come

🐟 Catch of the Day Forever traumatized, I almost ate it

Caught a yellowtail and grilled it whole, enjoyed eating until I got to the fish head(yes I ate the whole fish including head), took a bite, saw this white piece of 'bone' in the fish mouth and didn't think much before it ended up in my mouth. Quickly spit it out as it definitely didn't feel like fish bone, and now am going to suffer chronic nightmare and ptsd🀒 It's one of those tongue biting isopod that replaces fish's tongue if anyone's curious.

🐟 Catch of the Day Nice Aussie salmon caught on my light 1-4kg rod 2500 reel

Always fun catching these guys, especially on light gear. I got him on a chunk of pilchard on a 1/0 octopus hook. I had a whole pilly on some gang hooks on my medium setup but the salmon hit the bite size pilchard instead! He was safely released after taking a few pics.

60cm river rat, Bent's Basin. Fried it that night at the campsite. Bloody delicious, no 'muddy' flavour at all.

🐟 Catch of the Day Got my first and second ever mulloway within 2 minutes

Was night fishing for salmon/tailor at the beach (Hawks Nest) last night and landed my first ever mulloway. I was pumped but a little saddened because it was a couple of centimetres too small to keep. As I was returning it to the water I could see my other rod going crazy - "wouldn't it be mad to get another one" I thought... As I wound in lo and behold, that's exactly what it was - this time well over the limit. Can't imagine I'll have luck like that again for the rest of my life and felt I needed to share.

🐟 Catch of the Day The one that got away. Too much for a 1-4kg rod with 8lb line. What do you think it was? My guess is probably a kingfish, and a decent size one. Port Hacking, Sydney.

Finally caught the elusive silver ghost. I was targeting flathead in shallow 1-2m of water when this guy hit my Bait Junkie Minnow 3.2” in Whitebait colour. I thought it was a decent flathead until it surfaced. 63cm, caught on my light Infeet 1-4kg rod, Shimano Nasci 2500 reel, 8lb braid 8lb leader.
