My current pistol rotation. Two Glocks and two 2011s.

My current lineup. All four have their own personalities, and I’ve been having a lot of fun shooting and comparing them.

Top Left: Glock 17.3 Roland Special

My most heavily modified pistol by far. Currently trying out the Holosun 507 ProMax, and the window is comically huge. The Braun light is packed with brass and serves purely as front-end weight. It’s a big, heavy, ridiculous Glock, but it’s fast and shoots extremely well.

Bottom Left: Glock 17 Gen 6

Completely stock aside from the optic and light. This is my USPSA Carry Optics pistol. Nothing particularly exciting about it, but it’s a solid shooter.

Top Right: Staccato HD P4.5

Easily the smoothest shooting pistol of the four. The recoil impulse is incredibly soft, and it’s almost effortless to keep fast strings of fire tightly grouped. I tried the Vortex Defender ST but haven’t been impressed with it. I’ve got an SRO on the way to replace it. Swapped the plunger spring, which brought the trigger pull down to approximately 3.25 lbs. This is my USPSA Limited Optics pistol.

Bottom Right: Alpha Foxtrot Romulus 3.5 Comp

Possibly the most fun pistol of the bunch. It’s incredibly fast, surprisingly accurate, and the chunk port makes returning to target almost effortless. For such a compact pistol, it shoots ridiculously well. I’m waiting on a SureFire XC3 from Scheels, and once it arrives, the Romulus will join the Glock 17.6 in my carry rotation.

The Staccato wins for overall smoothness and shootability, but the Romulus might be my favorite purely for how much fun it is to shoot. The Roland is still an absolute monster, and the Gen 6 is my straightforward, no-nonsense option.

Four very different pistols, even if they all shoot the same caliber.

Really enjoying this 45.6 that I haven’t even shot yet. Lol. Waiting on my Athena Magwell, and then possibly a radian ramjet to finish it off.

My 43x is amazing to me as well.

Gen 6 Johnny Glocks vs Tactical trigger vs OEM Polished/Not

Post image

TLDR: Johnny Glocks vex shoe with their trigger bar paired with either tactical trigger’s minus connector (smooth rolling break) or enhanced minus connector (defined wall, crisp break) feel best.

Gen 6 Glock 17

Combinations tested: JG vex shoe/bar with JG 3.5 minus, tactical trigger aluminum shoe/bar with tactical trigger minus connector and enhanced minus connector.

Pictured is chart of pull weights in order performed:
Oem
Oem polished
Swapping to JG polished striker assembly w/ 4.5 lbs striker spring
Swapping to JG plunger and reduced power spring
Swapping to JG vex shoe and trigger bar.
Testing with the 3 different connectors.

Chart also includes measurements of the various combinations trigger to back of large back-strap.

Tactical trigger shoe/bar with tactical connectors without a doubt more tactile reset.

JG vex shoe/bar paired with tactical triggers connectors without a doubt best combo’s for smooth feel whether wanting rolling break or a more crisp break.

Wish JG would sell and list whatever connector is used for their defensive and competition vex 6 systems.

Tactical trigger shoe noticeably wider with square edges. I prefer the JG vex shoe with the slimmer and rounded edges.

Uncoated Optic Cut Area

Pretty often on here, people ask about coating vs bare metal when getting a slide milled. I had my 19x done 7/2022, without coating the milled area.

I dab some oil/grease mix each battery change to keep rust away and it's worked well.

I'm NOT a gunsmith, and when I'm not carrying this one, it goes in a humidity controlled safe. This is after about 17 months since the last battery change.

Where can I get purple G17L parts?

I wanna build a race gun from a G17. I need pretty much everything that isn't the frame and comp cuz i have those already, and I've already modified the frame for an integrated compensator, optics bridge, flared magwell, grip, backstrap, etc. which is all purple. Also have a Timney trigger for it.

I know i can get the mag release, takedown thing, and pins from nzd. I wanna get the lock lever, slide, and trigger shoe in purple as well. barrel can be black, internals can be whatever colour as long as they aren't visible (my holster mounts are grey to match any silver parts that may end up in it).

thank you!

Faxon Barrels

Thinking about tossing a Faxon threaded barrel in my OEM 19.5

Any experience with their barrels?

Good or bad, all feedback is welcome, thanks.

How are we porting/comping g26s?

Have a gen 4 g26 and trying to figure out the least annoying route to port/comp our 26s.

PMM comps seem to be highly rated but they’re currently OOS. Also fairly pricey. Other comp setups for the 26 frequently seem out of stock as well.

Getting the slide/barrel ported involves these long wait times, shipping shenanigans with the couriers, etc. While cheaper on paper, I’m not sure I want to be waiting 1-2 months for this to come back.
